1. Fantastic basses. I`ve got an L2000 Tribute and it`s flawless. Strangley enough, like Neepheid, I also run it in passive mode. I just use the active mode at the end of the night when the volume of the band seems to go up. Just gives it a wee extra kick. And if you use the active mode and the battery chucks it, it will still work in passive mode. Well handy as the battery is behind the plastic control plate cover. Jez
2. We don`t have an intro but we have an outro! As we break down the instruments, we play "Always look on the bright side of life." Gets everyone out the door with a big smile on their face. Jez
3. I would never buy something on here and then put it up for sale again on here for more dosh. It`s bad crack. I would ask for the same dough or take a small hit on it. I`m also crap at selling things! As Beedster says, as the membership grows, the potential for "dodgy dealings" increases. I have been burned this year on here but I am more careful now with who I would do business with. Call me an old hippy but what goes round, come`s around, karma and all that sh*t. Jez
4. Any Quo? Jez "Lightweight" Bass Dude
5. Cheers fellows bass gods!! Will get on to Interparcel asap. Jez
6. Got to post a bass to Bangor, Northern Ireland from the Glasgow area. Has anyone got any experiance of couriers? Aslo, a rough idea of cost inc insurance? Cheers!! Jez
7. Nice! Jez
8.
I prefer a precision I love the neck, if the instrument feels comfortable in my hands, I can normally get a sound I like I would be interested to find out what a jazz with a precision neck would feel like.
That`s what I`ve got. I replaced the neck on my VMJ with the maple neck from a Jap 57 reissue P. Looks great and feels dinky doo! Jez
9. The real cash is in the Gibson Les Paul 59 burst. They go for serious dosh as there was so few made. The Peter Green Les Paul that Gary Moore had was one and it went for between half a million to one million pounds depending on which version of the sale you beleive. Jez
10. Got to agree with you Burpster, she looks well hot in that clip. Still, I read a quote from a former member of Wings who said that she had hairer legs than him! Good clip and song though. Jez
11. That`s shocking putting a bass cab on top of your Grandma. Put her in a bloomin home like everyone else does. Jez
12. Persecute all thee who do not follow the one true being: The Brow!!! Bugger!! I can`t find it!! Get him back so I too can follow!! Jez He has returned!!
13. Get the Wilkinson set. They are vintage style with the long tunning key and stay in tune better than some expensive sets I have had. I have em on a P and my VMJ. The best thing about them is they are 24 quid for 4!!! http://www.axesrus.com/AxeBassMachine.html It`s the ones at the top of the page. Jez
14. Paul have you been hanging about with Munk or my good self? You`ve only just got it set up!! Really nice looking and tempting but I have nowt to trade with you, so have this bump. Jez
15. Hi Mark. I haven`t owned any of those 2 but have owned loads of Ibanez`s and they are quality basses that are excellent value for money. Nice slim neck and comftorable to play. Never owned a Washburn but I would imagine that it will be okay as there doesn`t seem to be any real dogs about nowerdays. Someone who knows what they are talking about will come along in a moment......... Jez
16. To the op. If you are going to run the site down, at least try and use the correct punctation whilst you are doing so. If you look on your keyboard, the third button up from the bottom, on the left hand side, is usually the caps lock button. Try and use it. And you are so wrong. I have bought and sold many guitars on this site. It`s all supply and demand. If people don`t want what you have for sale, people won`t buy it. Simple as that. If you see Tim, tell him. Jez
17. They are both decent for the money. The only thing I would say is that if you decide to keep the Jazz, you can easily upgrade it/sell it on. I have found in the past that Ibby`s are harder to sell on if you decide too. But as said, keep your eye on the s/h section here as you can pick up something nice for £200, especially now. You are in Vintage Modified Jazz teritory there which is a much better buy. Jez
18. We only play localish pubs and have done about 20 this year. We could have done more if the singer`s wife allowed him to out more!! We must have knocked back around another 10 and a couple of functions. Our last gig is on 11th of December as the singer has a couple of night`s out to go too. Yes I am slightly pissed off. Most of the gigs have been busy except for a couple in the last week of the month before pay day. As for next year, we have 26 lined up the now. Dinky doo!! Jez
19. If it makes you feel better, at the weekend I`m called Susan and wear a latex dress. Whilst playing the bass. Hang on, this is the cross dressers forum isn`t it? Jez Hang on, it`s 6:30 on friday. The weekend!! Susan.
20. Just had a look on Far East guitars and he has sold this cracker......... http://www.fareastguitars.co.uk/usedjb3.htm Tasty!! Jez
21. Not enough to justify the differance in price! Having said that, if you are thinking of splashing the dosh Wayne, why don`t you look for one of the Jap ones. They look the real deal and seem to go for between 500-700. Jez
22. I haven`t owned a JB but I have owned 3 L2000 tributes and use 1 as my main gigging bass at the mo and they have all been excellent. The build quality and finish is spot on and all 3 have have proved themselves on countless gigs. I would value them well above the quality of a Mexican Fender and I think that most of the guys on here who have them would rate them quite highly. Jez
23. Practially priceless? Practially brainless I think is more apt! Jez
24. Cheers Phil, your a starr!! Jez
25. I know that the question has been asked before but is anyone gigging with a PA cab as a bass cab? Having ran a search, I see that some people have used them for rehearsing. I was thinking of getting a Peavey with a 15" driver. I recently went and watched a local covers band and the bass guy was going through the pa and was just using his combo as a monitor. Don`t get me wrong, they had a sound guy and were using Mackie active speakers for the foh but it got me thinking. Opinions/advice? Jez
