I`m not really a big fan of him but total respect to the guy. Message in a bottle, so simple but exactly what the song required. I love the fact that he plays one of the most beat up bass I have ever seen and looks damm cool with it. As for his attitude, I have a Parkinson interview he did a few years ago with Billy Connolly on the show as well and he comes across as a right decent bloke. He states that even if he wasn`t a multi zillionare, he would still be out gigging and would have a day job. All round top bloke. Jez

He may be a talented player, but he was out to lunch! If you ever see a Bruce Palmer album called The cycle is complete, run a mile, please don`t buy it. Had it years ago and it was out there! And in those days, I was out there myself! And it still sounded sh*t! Having said that, it`s more than likley worth a few bob now. If anybody wants to try out the 4 E string idea, I`ve got a EB0 bass that I gave away but has been returned to me. Jez
Call me Mr Picky but I believe that's Fred Turner of BTO. Ted Turner being of Wishbone Ash.
Nah, you are quite correct Mr Picky!! I`m away to stick my gon*ds in a vice!! Making mistakes like that, do you think I could get a job on the magazine? Jez

jezzaboy replied to xilddx's topic in General Discussion
Pete. I went to check your bands website and it`s come up as "visiting this website may harm your computer". It`s on Google`s search page. Jez -
Apart from Guitar And Bass mag, which seems to feature less and less bass each time, there's no other mags to buy except Bass Player. Pete Guitar and bass this month. Vintage Private Collections-Peter Hook and John Illsley. Review of a TC Electronics combo Review of a Sadowsky MV4 Interview with Ted Turner and Randy Bachman of BTO Interview with Verdine White of Earth , wind and fire Review of Fender Bass manual Bit about Paul Paul Jones Manson Bass Bass techniques workshop with Steve Priest of Sweet And an advert for Adam Clayton`s Reverso bass  . And some stuff about six strings. No bad. Jez
There was always a time when someone like Nick Beggs was a nobody. While most of them will disappear into the wilderness I'm sure one or two of these nobodys will become somebody some day.
Bassbus. If you are reffering to my post, I would like to clarify my musings. I never said that they were nobody`s, I said that I hadn`t heard of them which is a different thing. They may be well know to people who like their style of music but I am not aware of them. The defence rests M`Laud. Jez

Do you ever look at a photo and realise that you are becoming a fat b*st*rd! Self plus gormless looking drummer at a gig a couple of weeks ago. Jez -
I really want to like it but most of it is full of people I haven`t heard of, reviews of expensive botique basses I could never afford and pages full of musical notation which I know sod all about and am not intrested in learning. Even the reviews of gear I might be intrested in/could afford usually gets printed months after it comes out. By that time, GAS has gone! I think that Guitar and Bass magazine is a much better buy. Having said that, I do buy BGM every so often. Then I read it and remember why I don`t buy it all the time. But it`s a true saying, you can`t please all of the people all of the time. Jez

I would like to hijack this thread to say thanks to the person unknown, who sent me my tickets for the show that was stuck onto the tickets that they ordered for the same show. They may be a member of the site, I dunno. They gave no name so a big thanks to them! And it`s scary to see that the staff at the Fringe`s main box office don`t have the ability to tear those wee perforations that separate the tickets from each other and send them to the correct person. Well, on tuesday, the band of delinquents I am in practiced Bad romance by Lady Gaga. Suggested by the drummer (always a bad sign), the guitarist loved it, the singer hates it, I don`t really give a monkey`s as it`s a laff but we might play it tonight! Here endeth the confession. I`m away to play in a cardboard box for a while. Jez

I picked up a tidy Energy four string yesterday. Really like the sounds but daft question time: What do the controls do? I know the middle knob is the volume but what is the balance one and the tone/terble/bass one. Jez -

And on the 7th day God rested and said to Steven, "isn`t it about time you got shot of that Stingray!" Re the Rick. I was over at Absolutpepper`s place yesterday doing a deal, as they say, and he showed his Rickenbacker. Beautiful guitar but a heavy bugger and the top of the body cuts into his arm so much he has to wear a wrist gaurd whilst playing it, as mentioned above. Also the sound ain`t for eveyone. And on the 8th day God said to Steven, "isn`t it about time you got shot of that Ricky!" Jez
