  1. Much apologies for mis quoting you. I have deleted the quote.
  2. If you reckon they will want you to send it back down to them to do a set up, by the time you do that and pay for the return postage, you would be as well paying for a set up from someone local. Whether you should be doing that in the first place, only you can decide.
  3. This year we got rid of our "Angus" in a acdc band. The guy was just too much work, wanting everything his way, surly always down attitude and he ignored all attempts to contact him. So the rest of the band got together and he got the elbow and now he tells anyone who listens that it`s all our fault. It was quite difficult to replace him but now we have someone who is a super nice guy and it has worked out great. In your situation, for me, his attitude towards the band would be enough to can him and the fact that in this day and age he has no mobile phone, whats that about? I would get together and speak to the rest of the band and if you all feel the same, get shot of him. It might take you some time to find another singer but as my example above, a change can really work out. Life is too short to work with a bell end.
  4. We were doing a charity gig in Ardrossan last Saturday night and as guitar boy had brough his rather fine pa, I decided to make it easy and use my RCF and a couple of pedals. Sounded good and just took 5 mins to set up.
  5. I returned a bass to them about a year ago. I was speaking to the guys in Newcastle and they wanted me to get a courier sorted blah, blah. I said couldn`t I just drop it off at the Glasgow shop? You could do was the reply, so I did. It might have changed now that they are owned by the employees?
  6. I had a 4 string M5 and it was lovely with loads of tonal options. Only moved it on as the shape was too different for me if that makes sense? But well built and not too heavy.
  7. This is a pickup from a MM Sterling bass. The pickup is in working order and was removed from a 2001 model Sterling. There is a bit of wear on the front of the pickup from a previous owner. I swapped the pickup and original pre amp out as the jack socket was starting to misbehave and was so worn, the input cable was almost falling out the jack socket. If you want I will throw in the original pre and you can sort it yourself but bear in mind it may need some work. I have never seen one of these for sale so hopefully have priced the item fairly. Looking for £60 posted to UK.

  9. Nice thought these look, Lobster has just reviewed one and it weighs 10.8 lb`s. Quite a hefty beast and a deal breaker for some I would imagine.
  10. This might be daft or been suggested earlier but can`t you borrow their usual bassist amp to do the gig?
  11. A similar thing happened to me this week. Bought a bass and got the DHL tracking. I realised that no one would be in to accept delivery so chose the "collect from local parcel shop" option. On the morning got a notification that bass was on the van. Got home and got a e mail saying that they couldn`t deliver the bass and contact the supplier. Guessing that the bass had been refused due to the size, I spent 22 mins on the phone to DHL who as soon as they asked me for the tracking number promptly cut me off! After another 35 mins on the phone an operator confirmed that it was too large for the shop and would I like it delivered the next day to my home address. So in the end the guy was really helpful and I got the bass. But the bass arrived with one of the tuner clover stem broke off and lying in the bottom of the gig bag. Don`t know how it happened as the bag showed no sign of damage and the shop are sorting it out for me, so all good.
  12. For sale only a MXR Di +. As new condition and comes with original box which is as new as well. Has Velcro on the bottom and is fitted with a 9 volt battery. Cost me £150 a few months back so looking for £90 posted UK only.
  13. Great photo and album as well!
  14. I use one of these myself and they are a great piece of kit. GLWTS
  15. I used this set up and if you stick a ART Tube Pre Amp at the end of your signal chain, it will provide a hot enough signal to drive the power amp. The MXR DI I have doesnt give a hot enough signal to do this on it`s own. And someone has one for sale on here at the moment. You can use it for vocal, bass, guitar etc.
  16. Bought a personal monitor from Dave. Exactly as described, good communication and fast postage. Thanks! Gerry
  17. "She used to be a diplomat, now she`s down the laundromat" Not one of Gary Kempt`s finest lyric.
  18. Re Every breath. I either read or saw an interview with Andy where he said that it was indeed his riff and that he was quite happy with the deal that him and Sting came to over it`s use. I don`t think Andy is at the poor house knocking on the door.
  19. A guy who worked with a company I worked with for a while found out I was a bass player. He was on the lookout as he had apparently mislaid his bass player. He then proceeded to tell me in no uncertain terms that if I wanted the pleasure of playing for him I would need a P bass, Sansamp and use a pick. As I didn`t have a P bass, a Sansamp and can`t play with a pick to save myself, I told him where to go. This turned out to be the right thing to do as it turns out he was a right fu*kwit!
  20. Gotta agree. I bought the double one and at £135 I thought it was a bit pricey but for the spec, so far it`s been great.
  21. Just sold Chris another bass, the 3rd I think. Great guy to deal with and a nice guy. Thanks! Gerry
  22. Just in case you haven`t seen this, a cracking interview from 2013 that was broadcast on Vintage tv. Enjoy
  23. Welcome! Yeah quite a few guys on here have done it. You may have to give the neck a tweak and alter the nut but not always. Someone who has done it will no doubt be along shortly.
