At the moment due to supply issues, there seems to be a very limited stock of Fender models so the chances of trying a few examples of the same bass might be limited. I have owned a Player Jazz and P and they were both really good but the Mexican Vintera models were a step above but they are getting pricey. I don`t know if you are in a position to buy used from here but a US Standard from 2008 ish onwards from a trusted seller on here would be my choice. For £900 to £1000 you can get a nice US model and if you feel like moving it on in the future, you won`t lose anything. Re the G&L models. If you look on Talkbass they are getting a bad rep for their quality control at the moment but if you get a good one, they are superb.

After a brief flirtation with a pre/power amp set up, I recently picked up these. Cab is a RM 414 and the head is a MAG 400 which is a MAG/ABM mash up according to the seller. The head is in great nick for something 15 to 20 years old.

It seems that Francis Rossi is spending most of his time next year doing a spoken word/question and answer tour so maybe they are cutting back on the quo gigs? Lets face it, the last couple of years haven`t been the best money wise for pro musicians so maybe he needs the cash.

Same here, went to check it out and it ain`t there. No clips on the BBC YT either.

The thing is they can never "replace" Freddie and to be fair Adam has never seen himself as such but any time I have seen clips of them, they still give it their all.

Tuffnells are another one of those 80 + drops a day guys. They are under constant pressure and that why they are always looking for drivers as they can`t keep good guys. They pay decent money but by jings you work for it. But there is no excuse for the above.

A wee update. We got the guitarist I had been speaking to on the phone the other week down to the studio. The guy was superb! He has all the gear, SG with Angus Young`s sig pickups, 100 watt Marshall head and cab with an attenuator thank God and all the licks and tones. Turns out he is a doctor who played guitar in bands a few years back but always wanted to play in an ac/dc band but never had the chance. Super nice guy and he was smiling so much whilst playing that at first it was a bit freaky as I`m not used to happy guitar players! So it just goes to show that some people who answer Gumtree adverts are alright.
