I would love to be in the 1 bass camp as I have no band and don`t feel like playing the bass that much at the moment. I recently bought a Sterling Musicman and could happily just use it and nothing else.

They sometimes have some nice stuff in there but I find it a bit pricey and their descriptions of the items are terrible. Nice photo`s though.

I had a conversation with Dave last year about my ABM 2 x 10 compact and he said the best thing to do was line the inside of the cab with that wool underlay that you can buy, 15 mm thick if I remember correctly. He says that it tightens up the low end. When I asked him if it was so good why don`t they do it when they build them? Cost was the answer.

Stuart Adamson / The Skids / Big Country
jezzaboy replied to skankdelvar's topic in General Discussion
I did a deal years ago with @lawriemacmillan and he played with Stuart if I remember right. The guy was a great writer, guitarist and singer in the Skids and Big country. I still love the first BC album The Crossing. Sadly his personal demons got the better of him -
NBD: Fender Roadworn Mike Dirnt Precision Bass

I should have guessed that it was Mexican from the Roadworn moniker. The black one I was a cracker, bought and sold again on here but weighed too much for me. The Custom shop 59 pickup was exc. -

Cracking bass you have there. Does it weigh the same as some of the Mexican versions - the weight of a small semi detached? -
I had a East in a Jazz a while back and it`s a great piece of kit. If he stuck his pre in a pedal, I would be in the que for one.

"Sold as seen please study pictures well." I rather not if you don`t mind.

A clip from Normans rare guitars talking about TH.

I have a dvd recorded when they played T in the park in 2011 if I remember right. Great gig especially when Dave threw his black explorer and then tried to play it again and it was well gubbed. What a body of work, so many fantastic tunes, I only hope that after this tragic event they can return in some form.

Well to be fair they did charge me £230 for a Squier Standard P bass and that was in 2001. I didn`t know any better.

I remember seeing Sadowsky basses in Guitar guitar, must have been around 2008 ish and asking the sales guy who was going to pay £1200 for a bass? Changed days. And that bass is a cracker.

When I bought my first bass from McCormack`s in Glasgow, I got a second hand 10 watt Epiphone amp to go with it. It was in another room from the till and when the guy at the till asked how much the other guy said it was to buy, I told him £50. It was a lie, the other guy said it was £60 so I done them out of a tenner. No wonder the shop shut!

What amp/cabinet/PA for small venue/pub?
jezzaboy replied to DocTrucker's topic in General Discussion
I would get the loud guitarist`s sorted out first. No need for this these days. If you are too loud, not only do you p*ss off punters and some venue owners but unless you use decent hearing protection, you will knacker your hearing. This last point is one of the most important things to do right from the start. My last band had 2 x Marshall 100 watt toting guitar players and it was murder trying to get them to turn down and now one of them has tinitus badly. -
The only time I have been really bricking it was the first gig I played in 2005. It was a charity gig but after that one I have been ok thanks to some comforting words from my drummer mate: Me "Aren`t you nervous?" Drummer "No!" Righty ho! Now I just have some nerves just before you hit the first song. I prefer playing to a decent sized crowd as you get a lot more energy from them and if they like you, there is no better feeling. But if I go into a shop to try a bass out, I`m useless and can`t wait to get the heck out of there.

Exc job on that, looks really good.
