I might try them for my next bit of "German shopping" as Thomann are terrible on their deliveries now, for me anyway. Those Ashdown prices are very tempting.

I tried to sell a G&L bass through The Bass Galley. They had it about 3 weeks and I had to chase them up to actually post the bass on their site and when they did the photo`s were crap and the info about the bass non existent. Got it back then.. Got Mark to sell it, good photo`s and description. Result, it sold in a couple of weeks. It was a 20% fee instead of 15% but it went. I will say his communication could be better once the bass sells as others have stated. And I did have a bad experience regarding a bass I bought from him a couple of years back re the condition but what the heck. The reason I sold the bass through BD and paid the commission is I don`t do Facebook much and selling a G&L on here for a decent price can be rather difficult. And I have very little patience when selling much to my wallets detriment!

It's NOT EVEN been nine whole days since I bought any bass gear...
jezzaboy replied to Al Krow's topic in General Discussion
I have bought 3 basses in the last 10 days. 1 is up for sale, 1 has been sent back to G4music (great service on returns by the way) and the 3rd one is sitting in the hall awaiting collection by UPS to take it back as well! I`m off work at the moment due to a damaged foot and am spending far too much time on here and various bass gear shops. If only I spent all that time learning how to play the bloomin things. -
I think you will find it`s also on here for a lower price But it is on hold for a rather dodgy worded Gumtree reply. Apparently he wants it for his mum "for my best price and delivery" and all I need to do is e mail him at some G mail account. No it doesn`t sound in the least bit dodgy

I have used my RCF 715 on stage at the Hard rock in Glasgow. Whilst all the out front sound was provided by the rather nice pa, the on stage volumes were still quite high as I play with 2 dinosaurs who use 100 watt valve Marshall`s to "get their sound." The RCF handled the gig easily and I would have no issue in using it as my main sound source on a pub type gig. MY RCF is around £550, about the same price as a Fender Rumble 500 and I bought this as they get a good name for this type of speaker. I cannot comment on the speaker that you are thinking of buying but before getting the RCF I looked at the 15" version of the HB powered speaker but as I had the budget, I decided to go with my present one. The good thing about Thomann is you can buy it, try it and if it doesn`t suit, send it back. Got to be worth a shot.

Just got this last week but I have far too many basses and none of the others are selling so someone can have this for the price I paid, ish. Good condition apart from the usual minute swirling you get on black basses and a dent on the bottom edge next to the jack socket. Everything works as it should, currently fitted with GHS flats, usual BB specs. The weight is 4.2 kg or 9.2 lb`s. Postage included in price to UK mainland only on a 48 hour service. Or you can collect from me in Paisley / Glasgow. No trades thanks.

G&L Tribute JB Bass in 3-Tone Sunburst. ON HOLD

Aye, my bad. I`m always getting the bloomin Yammy numbers mixed up! It is a 424.

The BB 414 from BD arrived and apart from a dent on the bottom edge next to the input jack, it is remarkably good condition for a 11 year old bass. And everything works which is a bonus! Stuck on a set of old GHS flats and it sounds really good. For the price of a Squier Affinity, I have a good quality bass that looks good.

ON HOLD Here is my G&L Tribute JB Bass in 3-Tone Sunburst in good condition. Swamp ash body, 2x G&L Alnico single coil pickups, 38 mm nut, saddle lock bridge, new Ernie Ball rounds. The weight is 5.1 kg or 11.2 lb`s so no light weight but it`s fine for me with a wide strap. Will ship to the UK mainland only for £350 or you can collect / meet up in the Paisley / Glasgow area. Not interested in trades thanks. Here is a demo so you can hear the bass.

Just spotted a 2010 black 424 at BD priced at £211 including postage. 9/10 condition according to the advert. I don`t need it but they look cool as in the black so what the heck

For a simple, great sounding pre, my vote goes to the Sadowsky SPB 1 pre amp. Bought one from Thomann to plug into my RCF and love it. £133 delivered.

For me the sound is far more important. Our previous Angus used to dress in the school uniform until one day he turned up in jeans and informed us he had sold it to some guy. After that he wore jeans and as our crowd are hardcore Dc fans, they usually gave him one of their cut off denim jacket full of patches to wear which made the fans very happy. The guitarist`s use a SG and a Malcolm lookalike Gretch but I play whatever bass I feel like.

Have a look at the Yamaha TRBX 304 which is in the same ballpark or for a P/J bass the BB 234, a great passive bass. Nothing wrong with the Ibby though. There are also some new Squier Affinity`s out at around £230 that are nice. Really you need to get to a big shop like a Guitarguitar and try some out if you are near one. You are lucky as at your price point there are so many great options, you just need to have a play and see what suits you. Good luck!

I use a 715 and have never had any problem with volume. The only thing I`m not keen on is it`s feckin ugly! To be honest, most of the stuff in that clip goes right over my head. But at least they aint as ugly as the 7 series!

Difficulties agreeing on rehearsal precautions
jezzaboy replied to Stylon Pilson's topic in General Discussion
We are a 5 piece. Drummer, rhythm guitarist and self are both double jabbed, singer is a primary school teacher with 2 young kids so I think she has been jabbed but lead boy is a new guy, the drummers mate and apparently a anti vac guy but the subject hasn`t come up. To be honest the only one who was a bit wary was the drummer as his wife works in a care home. I can understand some people feeling wary of getting back in a studio with others but I wouldn`t insist in taking a test before going in, if you are that worried, I wouldn`t bother. In my job, I have been in constant contact with people since I returned to work last July. -
Am I the only one who has never played a P Bass.?
jezzaboy replied to bubinga5's topic in Bass Guitars
Here it is. Just looks like a white P bass. It has a Tonerider pickup, Gotoh tuners and bridge and a Kiogon loom. It was the original red, then black, natural, white, black and white again. Never again! It`s nothing special apart from the neck but for some reason it`s like putting on your favourite pair of slippers -
Here is my home playing set up. Bass into the MXR DI (which is crap for plugging into my RCF speaker-no volume when used live. Bought second hand so that might have something to do with it.) MXR into Berhinger mixer. A good bit of kit that cost £50 odd quid. I have the laptop on one channel, an old pc tower into another, a Alto 10" powered speaker from the line out and headphones. Sometimes I plug into a Beringher BDI 21 instead of the MXR and it does the same job for £22! As I live in a tenement flat, the speaker only gets used during the day on low volume.
