  1. The guy hasn`t been on here since June 2019 so I guess it must be gone.
  2. A guitarist I played with 10 years ago wanted to start a mod band. It was his vision so they stuck to that and they were doing ok on the mod scene up here. If the 80`s band was the original plan you should stick to it and surround yourself with people on the same page as you. No point in playing stuff that you don`t want to, stick to your guns!
  3. As he is a kid and they can be a tad fickle, I would go for the Harley Benton short scale. I had one a few years back and it was great for the price. Being a HB you might need to do a set up but that can be true of most cheap basses. They are a fun little bass. (I`m talking myself into buying one!) At about £80 ish delivered to your door at least if junior decides it not for him then no big loss. https://www.thomann.de/gb/harley_benton_hbp90bk_shortscale_ebass.htm If you want to go more upmarket, get a Ibby Micro or a Mini P bass.
  4. I`m pretty sure that the SB has a slimmer neck than the LB Tribute. The Kiliton Tribute has the slim neck as well. As for the Jazz JB ask @dub_junkie as he has had a few. I had a JB 2 bass with the P bass shaped body and it had a thicker neck than a Fender Jazz. Why do these guitar companies make things so damm confusing!
  5. Just bought a set of pickups from Paul. Good price and a smooth transaction. Thanks! Gerry
  6. Slip of the keyboard, I meant the LB.
  7. The neck on the LB 100 Tribute is a bit more of a handful than a Mexican P bass and the same width, about 42 mm if I remember right. I really don`t know why G&L do this to their Tribute necks especially the L2000 which is a bloomin baseball bat! But the Tribute L100 is a really nice bass.
  8. But the bass is in "players condition!" Who the heck was the player and has he any more to sell that we can avoid like the plague.
  9. You can get a nice Sire V3 for £261 from Andertons. https://www.andertons.co.uk/brands/sire/sire-v-series-basses/v3-basses?#facet:&productBeginIndex:0&facetLimit:&orderBy:&pageView:grid&minPrice:&maxPrice:&pageSize:& For the price they can`t be beat as they have the same pre amp as the more expensive models. Edit: just checked, sod all stock!
  10. I tend to agree with you but at least any profit from the sale of his model went to charity. What made me laugh was for a good bit of his career he played loads of different basses!
  11. Taken from a brand new Player P bass, comes with screws and foam on the back. £23 posted UK, paypal f&f.
  12. Well there is a US one with a different body shape and a skinny neck in the classifieds....
  13. The price seems ok for a US Jazz if it`s a nice one. Re the price when new. I remember 11 years ago or so a Mex Standard P bass was £320 with a gig bag and if you sold it on now, it would be in the £350 range so it`s all relative.
  14. Bought a finger rest from Mark. Nice bit of kit, just what I was looking for. Thanks!
  15. Sold Chris a Sire and as above, a top man to deal with! Thanks
  16. I would agree with Chris here. These 2 albums from 1970 are their most "accessible" being the Dead doing country rock ish. The thing with the GD is there are a few different versions of the band. Psychedelic RnR in the late 60`s, country rock in the early 70`s and a big mix until 95 and the end. There are loads of live stuff on YT, some of it great some of it iffy. I only really like them from 71 to 74 when they only had one drummer instead of two and I can`t stand the endless jams that they are famous for. Sacrilege to some Deadheads I know but there you go. Live is where they really shine, I own about 20 of their live albums (mostly 3 and 4 disc per album) and only 3 studio albums. I can highly recommend "Hundred year hall" from Germany in 72 as a personal favourite. But there is so much good stuff out there so dive in and find out what you like the best.
