I have the 715 and on the 2 occasions I manged to use it I was happy with it. I bought s/h MXR bass di to use through it and it`s got sod all output (not sure if it`s working right as the output is very low) compared to the ART Mic pre I was using before as a di with a pedal in front of it. But you are right, it`s rather a large box. I have a Sadowsky SP B1 di pre amp coming next week from Thomann for £134 delivered so I will try that into the 715 and then it will be: bass - tuner - Sadowsky - RCF

Looks great in that colour mate. Give me a shout when your are moving it on!

I recently bought a Squier affinity P bass for £200 and the fret work was better than a recent Yamaha purchase in that I had to get the edges of the frets on the Yamaha dressed. Call me crazy but when you are spending £500 on a bass, things like the frets should be spot on.

NOW SOLD Here is a 2 piece alder Northwest guitar P body. Finished in a natural finish for your John Deacon project! Fitted with a tort pickguard and a hi mass bridge both from NW guitars. Please note, there was another bridge fitted and there is a couple of holes under the bridge so no good if you are looking to fit a BBOT bridge but as you can see, they are not seen with the type of bridge fitted here. The body is in vgc just one small mark on the edge under the tone control knob which can`t be seen from the front and I can see one very small ding on the rear of the body near the bottom. The weight is 2.5 kg or 5.5 lb`s. The neck pocket is the correct size for a Fender neck and I had a Nate Mendel Mexican neck fitted and it was a perfect fit. The neck pocket is listed below. I`m looking for £120 posted in the UK, if you want to collect from me in Paisley I will knock off the postage. Material: 2-piece alder Body thickness: 44mm (1 3/4") Neck pocket width: 62mm (2 7/16") Neck pocket depth: 17mm (43/74") Control cavity depth: 38.5mm (1 33/64") Pickup cavity depth: 17mm (43/64") Finish: Polyurethane

I agree with this point 100%! Or do I disagree with this point 100%? -
You should be able to find out how much power that the pedals need and then get a suitable power supply. Do check first as Badhands says above, some pedals use different kinds of power such as centre positive and such like. The 1 Spot I posted above is fine for me as my needs are simple and straight forward (3 9v 100ma pedals) but it is still a decent power supply but I would avoid the (sometime) cheap power bricks that you can buy from Amazon, E bay etc.

As above, another lovely bit of kit from John. Ta!

The way I look at it, if you are being paid for a gig you should always have a back up. £80 odd quid for a Harley Benton PB 20 just to leave in the car or in a corner. It might never happen but if something goes wrong with your bass and you can`t repair it (and it can happen no matter how well you look after your gear), you will look like a right plonker without a back up. I even take 2 to a rehearsal in a Gator double gig bag.

I could be wrong but if you get a daisy chain cable, you can run a few pedals via the boss tuner? Funnily enough, I just bought a 1 Spot combo pack from Guitarguitar that can run 8 standard pedals from the one plug, cost £35. Cheaper than a brick power block but no good for some kinds of pedals.

Is now good time to be buying 'quality' musical instruments

Don`t know about that Jack. I sold 2 basses in a shop within 5 days that sat on here for a few weeks with less interest than a HSBC bank account. Granted the shop will take their commission but they went. If you price them right people are still buying. -
NOW SOLD Ampeg SCR DI pedal for sale only, no trades thanks. Very good condition, original box and instructions. Can be used as a headphone practice tool as it has a mp3 player input and it`s own level control. Price includes delivery to UK mainland only or if you want to collect from Paisley, I will knock off the postage charge. Here is what Ampeg say: The Ampeg SCR-DI Bass DI with Scrambler™ Overdrive is a true Ampeg preamp, delivering a wide range of Ampeg tone perfect for the stage. The classic Ampeg EQ offers additional tonal control including Ultra-Hi and Ultra-Lo tone shaping. Plus, you can dial in tube-like grind with the all-new Bass Scrambler overdrive. The SCR-DI has all the connections to get Ampeg tone out of any rig and send it all to front-of-house to ensure the audience hears your tone. With a built-in headphone out and aux in for practicing along with backing tracks, the SCR-DI is also a fantastic practice tool that can fit right into your gig bag.

Hey Dave, the plot thickens!! I watch Phil McKnight on YT and he mentioned that he tried to order a Mesa guitar amp from 2 separate mom and pop stores in the US. He was told that they were no longer Mesa dealers as they were told that they would have to start stocking Gibson guitars to keep the MB products. They refused and lost the products. However, he managed to buy one from Sweetwater as they sell Gibson guitars and so can stock Mesa. This is something similar that Gibson did when they binned a lot of small dealers in the UK a few years back. When they bought Mesa, Gibson said that they wouldn`t interfere with the running of Mesa. So not only are they shafting the UK dealers, they are doing it to some US dealers as well.

Spot on. It`s the second version of the Highway series, the first series had a BBOT bridge if I remember correctly. Good basses, I had a black one that I sold to Johnny Frog on here years ago.

Now things have calmed down a bit after the chaos of the start of the year, placing an order below the £135 limit to avoid getting into UPS vat billing scenario, seems to work the way it did before.

NOW SOLD THANKS I picked this up recently s/hand. My intention was to change the pickup and the pre but as per my previous adventures with Stingray basses, as I play with my fingers and anchor my thumb on the pickup, with the pickup being so far back I find it doesn`t suit my right hand. It is in very good condition just a couple of small marks on it. The frets are like new and I have fitted the bass with a set of new EB slinkys. I got a mate to change the pickup to the Wilkinson one now fitted (it is only 2 very small bit`s of soldering but I am lethal with a solder gun!) but I will include the original. The scratch plate had a sticker on it that had loads of adhesive on it and the only way to remove it was with a green pad which has left the plate with a matt finish. I fitted a e bay Stingray transfer, a bit naughty but hey ho. The weight is bang on 4 kg or 9.2 lb`s. The price is £250 collected from Paisley or localish meet up. I will post it to UK only for £12. I would swap for a bass head or gigable combo of similar value but I`m not looking for any bass trades.

I would say that if you were looking to buy a Fender Player series look at the Tributes at £200 less. They are fantastic basses and not just for the money.

We are in a somewhat same scenario. Our singer left in November 2019, she gave us plenty of notice and was upfront about the situation. No probs there. But the lead guitarist is her other half and we agreed to continue with a different vocalist. We found one with more of a bluesy voice but she can belt it out, then covid with all plans put on hold. Got together in September last year and managed 1 rehearsal before lockdown again. There was a distinct lack of enthusiasm from guitar boy. Since then no contact from him, he has deleted his facebook account and isn`t answering calls or texts. So as he is a moaning negative type of guy, we have decided to move on without him. One of these guys that even when we played a great gig with the punters right into it, his face would still be tripping him. Myself and the drummer had had enough of his attitude anyway and it feels like a weight has been lifted from our shoulders. It was always going to be hard to pick up after the singer left but I feel more positive about the future of the band now even if it means almost like starting from scratch again.
