  1. As I have absolutely no patience, I might be interested in a trade for this baby. Must be a fretted 4 string, be located in the UK, Yamaha BB`s, Fender P or J preferred. Send me a pm if interested. Trade plus cash also considered.
  2. Having driven a truck for Hermes in the past for a week (thats all I could manage as I told them to stick it) and seen the way they deal with fragile goods in the warehouse, if you have any choice in the matter, do not send anything with these bunch of cowboys. You have been warned!
  3. I think that when you start to get into that price bracket you really need to have a quality product. Part of the problem for me with expensive Sire`s is we all remember when they came out they were a budget bass and they were exc value but these don`t really do anything for me at that price point.
  4. It`s nice but I think the pre amp is the same one you get in the sub £300 V3? I don`t think I would pay the £1k + these are.
  5. There are some chancers, sorry sellers, trying to get around £1000 for them when I reckon that a good Jap one is £500 ish tops. There was a couple of nice ones on here last year that sat for a while. It like everything else. When you don`t want one they are everywhere but when you actually have the cash and the need, they seem to have vanished....
  6. I would give Strung out guitars just off the Saltmarket a shout. They have done some work for me and my bandmates over the years and they have been spot on. I don`t know what the script is now re the lockdown though https://www.strungoutguitars.com/
  7. I fear that even if we ever do get out of this lockdown loop we seem to be in, there will be sod all places left to play in.
  8. It usually does.... I have been there so many times. Like when I bought a 734 earlier this year and didn`t give it a fair chance and moved it on
  9. Sold a pedal to Brian. Nice and easy, the way it should be! Thanks!!
  10. Update! After Thomann telling me in an e mail that DHL would be sending all orders to the UK back to Thomann, I got a text from DHL on Tuesday saying that they would be delivering my parcel yesterday which they did. But it is more than likely going back to Thomann as I got sorted with parts from Northwest guitars, delivered in 24 hours (had to pay £5 for next day delivery) and whilst they weren`t the same parts I ordered from Thomann, they will do fine. The lack of coms from them is disappointing but after the year that we have all had, it`s a minor event.
  11. £750 collected. £770 delivered to UK mainland with the caveat on postage above. Damm good price for a as new bass made by your favourite German chappie.
  12. They are usually "set up" at the factory (Mex Fenders have tags with them and one of the items is set up by..) but sometimes I wonder if they were set up by next doors small dog Set up is a personal thing, what suits you won`t suit me. It`s quite easy to set a bass up yourself via websites or youtube tutorials or get the shop you buy if from to set it up for you.
  13. Just bought a cracking wee TC amp from Jon, nice, smooth and easy deal. Thanks!
  14. I hope you have better luck than me as I got that mail last Wednesday the 16th and according to DHL tracking it is in Osterweddingen in Germany, where it has been "in transit" from the 18th. I have now e mailed them back and told them to cancel the order and refund my cash which they have agreed to do. And just to clarify something. I realise that there can be delays, covid issues re staffing and a blockade that was out of their hands but when they sent the package there wasn`t a blockade at any ports, traffic coming into the UK was fine. What has annoyed me is they never bothered to let me or likely lots of other people waiting for orders know that there was a problem or that the couriers would be sending UK orders back to Thomann. I only posted the topic to make others who were maybe ordering over the Xmas period aware of a potential problem.
  15. I`m right with you Bilbo. The worst offenders are guys with a vintage P bass and they stick that ugly lump of plastic on the end and it totally ruins the look of the bass.
  16. Be a truck driver. Which I became at the age of 37, just to do for a year or so to decide what I wanted to do after working in a warehouse for 20 years. 17 years later I`m still doing it. As Sandy Denny said, who knows where the time goes....
  17. Well since I`m stopping for my holidays, I won`t have access to my usual wrapping materials (nicked from the packing dept) until w/c 11th of January. So if per chance someone wants to buy it and needs posting, please bear this in mind. If you are local, you are probably snookered due to Wee Jimmy Krankie shutting the country down again for a few weeks or months or forever but give me a shout and we can see if we can work something out.
  18. I`ve sent them a mail telling them as they can`t tell me when or if I will get the delivery to give me a refund. My colliwobbles feel much better now
  19. I ordered some stuff from Thomann on Sunday the 13th of this month, nothing special just odds and sods that are hard to get in the UK. Usually I would get an shipping conformation the next day but didn`t hear anything until the 16th saying the goods have shipped with DHL. The goods have now been with DHL since then and don`t appear to have left Germany. Having heard nowt from Thomann, I sent them a rather blunt e mail and got a reply saying they had problems with the covid crisis, seasonal increase in demand and the problems with transport. But the last bit of the e mail was interesting... "At present it appears likely that most parcels to the UK / Ireland which are currently in transit will be returned to sender by the couriers. Depending on the situation we can then either re-ship the goods or issue a refund via the original method of payment." So if you have ordered something recently or are thinking of buying from them, bear the above in mind. I can understand the delays but to not let their customers know gets right in my colliwobbles!
  20. I don`t play 5 strings but re the muting, would one of those fret wrap things help with muting the open strings?
  21. Would make a lovely Xmas pressie for the wife. Far better than a iron!
  22. Better than Thomann. Ordered some bits and pieces last Sunday, the stuff didn`t ship until Thursday and as of Saturday it`s still somewhere in Germany. Not impressed and after the 1st in might be worse!
  23. "Maybe I should have stayed in bed" is the best rock n roll story I have read. I don`t really like the Man band`s music as such but Deke`s books are brilliant. It was typical of me that just as I got into his books, the man passed away. Cheers for the link M, I will have a listen later on.
