  1. I play in an ac/dc tribute and we do it the way it was originally played. The only change we make are we do the live versions of some of the tracks which are different but not by much. A lot of dc tribute bands add in extra fills and runs and it just doesn`t work as the music is straight ahead rock and roll. I imagine that some folk would find it a bit boring but we all love the real band so everything is cool. When I played in a pop/rock covers band, I got it as near as possible but as was said earlier, I played stuff for years only to find out that I had been playing it "wrong" the whole time.
  2. Price drop to £900. Bit of a bargain for this as they retail at £1350.
  3. I really fancy the burst one but not at £2000. You aren`t even getting the active eq for that but I guess that some folk could see that as a +
  4. NOW TRADED I bought this new a few months back but as usual with Jazz style basses (I know this isn`t strictly a Jazz) I`m just not bonding with it so I will stick it up here and see if there is any interest. It is in as new condition and has never left the house. It weighs 4 kg or 8.8 Lb`s and is fitted with a brand new set of D`Addario nickel strings. The build quality is fantastic as any Sandberg owner will testify. The pickups are by Delano and you can split the humbucker and use it as a normal Jazz bass. There is a passive option by pulling out the volume knob and the treble control becomes your passive tone control. The neck size is between a Jazz and a P. If posting is required, I will only send it on an insured service and this will require a hardcase which I will source but this will take a few days to sort out so please understand this. The cost of this insured service is around £30 but I will spilt the cost with the buyer, so £15 each. Please note payment by bank transfer only and strictly UK mainland. I will not be sending this overseas so please don`t ask. Specs: Body: Ash Neck: Maple Fretboard: Rosewood Scale: 34" 22 Frets Pickups: 1 Delano J-Style and 1 Delano Power humbucker PU Split Sandberg 2-band EQ Active/Passive Colour: Blackburst Matt
  5. Agreed. I wouldn`t touch some of that stuff unless I had my pink marigold`s on I think the auction should be called "Some nice amps but some right old tat that I was gonna skip but hopefully some mug will buy it!"

    UPS

Funnily enough I sent a bass with UPS 18 months ago, sent them the dimensions with a couple of cm`s added on just in case then got an e mail after they delivered it ok to say that the package was larger than what I had said. They weren`t going to charge me extra on this occasion (how nice of them) but if it happened again in the future they would. Guess who hasn`t used them again? Not that they are bothered.
  7. NOW SOLD I had this up before but decided to keep it but it`s not being used so it`s back up for grabs at a cracking price. Swamp ash body, Omega "baddass style" bridge, Hipshot lic tuners, 38 mm nut, 2-band EQ w/Passive-Active Push-Pull. Weight is 4.2 kg or 9.2 il`s. There are a few marks on the end of the headstock, a black mark on the back of the neck - it might be a wood knot and on the front of the bass, above the pickups, it looks like the clear lacquer has been applied too heavily and if you spin the bass into the light at certain angles, you can see a slight rippling of the clear coat. This is hard to see and not visible normally, I can`t even get it to show in a photo I just like to be upfront about these things. The price is £170 collected/local meet up or I can post for an extra £15 UK mainland only. If you want to arrange your own courier I will have it boxed up for you.
  8. It`s all relative. Some folk and shops are asking £800 + for 2009 ish US Standard P basses and I bought a brand new one in 2008/09 for £850. So I reckon around £1100 for a decent MM is ok.
  9. Bit pricey. £1739 for a P bass? They are nice but too expensive for me.
  10. I sold this to Keir and if I had the cash I would buy it back as it sounds and looks great. Look at the YT clip, it spanks the Squier`s bottom. And Keir is a great guy to deal with. GLWTS
  11. Well thanks to "wee Nicola" and her bunch of wacko`s I think our next gig is pencilled in for the 33 rd of Julember next year.
  12. If you are looking for a decent cheap pickup, have a look at the Tonerider pickups. I have had one in my Nate Mendel P for a few years and it`s a great pickup for not a lot of cash.
  13. Cliff is the man for me. He is such a modest guy but plays exactly what is needed for the song, which for me is what bass playing is all about.
  14. Fender used to spray over sunburst if they needed a custom colour bass. If I remember right, Mark Agnesi said that if you wanted a customer colour in the 60`s, you paid 10% extra to get it done. I wonder what colour all those fiesta red strat`s were that were refinished in the UK during the Shadows hey day. Sunburst? I think it would be cool if you were thinking about refinishing the bass to colour match the green colour.
  15. Sorry guys there was a problem with the post and it seemed to vanish for a while. The parts are now gone and I will amend the listing.
  16. Don`t apologise for the question, there`s lots of dafter questions on here! The size of neck issue will have affected lots of players on here. I have had a few Tribute G&L 2000s and while they are a great bass the neck was far too wide and chunky for me. I know that the US L 2000`s have a few different neck sizes but if the neck is causing you issues then time for a change. Really as Dan says, you would need to get out and try some. I really like the Yamaha and Sandberg necks which are between a Jazz and a P bass in size but thats me and not you. Best of luck.
  17. I work for a large plumbing goods supply company who supply to most of the large house builders. Our company has closed a few branches and let some staff go but we seem to be doing ok but nowhere near as busy as before the lockdown. I don`t really know what the future holds but who does? I took my truck for a wash last week and got talking to the guys as usual as the boss is a guitar player. He introduced me to a new guy who is a rigger at the SECC and the Hydro in Glasgow. He has had sod all work now for months so has went from a decent paying job to washing trucks. The rhythm guitarist in the band works for a plastic supply company and due to need for plastic screens for shops, buses etc has never been so busy. Singer is a teacher so she is ok and the drummer hasnt worked for a couple of years for various reasons. But on the bright side, although the possibility of playing any gigs is still a good bit away, we have decide to get back into the studio and have a blast so I`m looking forward to that. We never really made great money from gigging but it helped pay for strings and incidentals. The people I feel sorry for are the ones who made their living from the entertainment industries, how some of them are surviving I don`t know.
  18. If you want to hear some real live music, you can`t go wrong with the Richards Picks series from the Grateful dead. Forgotten lyrics, terrible out of tune backing vocals, musical clangers, sound problems they are all there. But there is some fantastic playing in there as well. It tells you on the back of the booklet that there is mistakes in the recording but what you get is what happened on the night of the recording and that is what Deadheads love about it. I can`t believe the profanity filter changed D i c k s Picks to Richard!
  19. The guy hasn`t been on here since December 2018. But you never know!
  20. For home use I use a small mixer into an Alto 10 inch powered speaker. Does the job fine for bass at home volumes. It is supposed to be 150 watts but as I live in a flat, I have never really gave it some serious welly. I think it was £90 from Guitaguitar. A budget option that works for me.
  21. I`m going to be the party pooper here. I can`t stand Mr Copeland. I much prefer it when Sting does police songs with Josh Freese on the drums.
  22. I will post this for £15 UK mainland only, if you give me a couple of days to organise some cardboard etc from work. Or will have it boxed up if you want to sort out your own courier.
  23. That MM is simply stunning but well out of my price range. But the call of the short scale is strong after getting rid of a lovely Mustang in my recent cull. The FSR black Mustang from BAX is very tempting but I have sworn off buying any new basses....
  24. Having owned an EB0 I would imagine it would be quite a downgrade as the one I owned was terrible. But some people seem to love them.
