Just bought a cracking wee TC amp from Jon, nice, smooth and easy deal. Thanks!

I hope you have better luck than me as I got that mail last Wednesday the 16th and according to DHL tracking it is in Osterweddingen in Germany, where it has been "in transit" from the 18th. I have now e mailed them back and told them to cancel the order and refund my cash which they have agreed to do. And just to clarify something. I realise that there can be delays, covid issues re staffing and a blockade that was out of their hands but when they sent the package there wasn`t a blockade at any ports, traffic coming into the UK was fine. What has annoyed me is they never bothered to let me or likely lots of other people waiting for orders know that there was a problem or that the couriers would be sending UK orders back to Thomann. I only posted the topic to make others who were maybe ordering over the Xmas period aware of a potential problem.

I`m right with you Bilbo. The worst offenders are guys with a vintage P bass and they stick that ugly lump of plastic on the end and it totally ruins the look of the bass.

Be a truck driver. Which I became at the age of 37, just to do for a year or so to decide what I wanted to do after working in a warehouse for 20 years. 17 years later I`m still doing it. As Sandy Denny said, who knows where the time goes....

Well since I`m stopping for my holidays, I won`t have access to my usual wrapping materials (nicked from the packing dept) until w/c 11th of January. So if per chance someone wants to buy it and needs posting, please bear this in mind. If you are local, you are probably snookered due to Wee Jimmy Krankie shutting the country down again for a few weeks or months or forever but give me a shout and we can see if we can work something out.

I`ve sent them a mail telling them as they can`t tell me when or if I will get the delivery to give me a refund. My colliwobbles feel much better now

I ordered some stuff from Thomann on Sunday the 13th of this month, nothing special just odds and sods that are hard to get in the UK. Usually I would get an shipping conformation the next day but didn`t hear anything until the 16th saying the goods have shipped with DHL. The goods have now been with DHL since then and don`t appear to have left Germany. Having heard nowt from Thomann, I sent them a rather blunt e mail and got a reply saying they had problems with the covid crisis, seasonal increase in demand and the problems with transport. But the last bit of the e mail was interesting... "At present it appears likely that most parcels to the UK / Ireland which are currently in transit will be returned to sender by the couriers. Depending on the situation we can then either re-ship the goods or issue a refund via the original method of payment." So if you have ordered something recently or are thinking of buying from them, bear the above in mind. I can understand the delays but to not let their customers know gets right in my colliwobbles!

I don`t play 5 strings but re the muting, would one of those fret wrap things help with muting the open strings?

Better than Thomann. Ordered some bits and pieces last Sunday, the stuff didn`t ship until Thursday and as of Saturday it`s still somewhere in Germany. Not impressed and after the 1st in might be worse!

"Maybe I should have stayed in bed" is the best rock n roll story I have read. I don`t really like the Man band`s music as such but Deke`s books are brilliant. It was typical of me that just as I got into his books, the man passed away. Cheers for the link M, I will have a listen later on.

Anyone ruptured a tendon in their plucking hand?

If it is any comfort, the nhs physio`s are great. I spent a good load of cash on private physiotherapy but the local nhs lady sorted the problem out and (touch wood!) I have been fine since. Good luck and stay positive! -

What a shower of barstuards! You couldn`t meet a more helpful bunch of folks than Louise and the rest of the guys and gals in the shop. They have done some really good work for me and a few of my mates over the years, here`s hoping they get most of them back.

It`s definitely up there, and it was also played by the best line up of Whitesnake by far. I think Mr Coverdale, who was once described by Jon Lord as "the Roger Moore of heavy metal" didn`t realise or appreciate the talent that was in that version of the band. I would be interested in a Neil book or how about one of the talented interviewer type chaps on this site setting up a chat - over the net even - with Neil and he could ask all the questions we are dying to ask?

Just completed a trade deal with Jeff. The only problem was I had the choice of 2 and deciding which one to take home was bloomin hard! But I chose the right one in the end Jeff is a pleasure to deal with and I can only echo the comments above. Thanks!

NOW SOLD Up for sale is my Sandberg California 2 VS4 Lionel short scale . I bought this from Bassdirect a couple of months back as during lockdown I was thinking of moving to short scale basses full time but having tried various Mustangs and this, I have decided that I am more comfortable on 34" scale basses. This has an ash body in beautiful satin blueburst colour and has the black hardware which looks ace. The bass is in exc condition, just one small mark on the wood at the underside of the neck which is a mark on the wood itself: see photo. The bass weighs 3.8 kg or 8.4 pounds. It has GHS round wounds fitted and comes with the rather nice Sandberg gig bag. The build quality is spot on as usual with Sandberg. Specs: Neck: Canadian maple, 39 mm at the nut, the neck has been fully plecked, lightweight tuners. Body: Ash, satin blueburst Scale: 30 inch Electronics: Passive volume and tone, Sandberg black label pickup according to the Sandberg spec sheet. Don`t trust the BD website, the specs are quite often wrong. I`m looking for £750 collected from Paisley or local meet up or will post UK mainland only for an extra £20. Payment by bank transfer only. These are quite rare basses and you are saving £350 on the new price for an as new bass. Any questions give me a shout.

I`m pretty sure that is Roco, son of Our Lord Pino. I think that it`s a Jap model and very nice looking it is as well.
