  1. Holger reckons that the Sandberg ones are the lightest ones available as they are made from aircraft aly. Don`t know the cost of them mind.
  2. Good score there. Personally I have come to realise that I don`t get on with MFD pickups, far too hot so the pickups in this would be ideal.
  3. Pino Style from the heart of Leo for a bargain price. What more could you ask for?** **Answers on a postcard to the usual address.
  4. Keep the Ibanez, it`s one of the best basses in it`s price range. Tanglewood are not know for great basses. Apart from that you will be lucky to get around £80 for the Ibby. Shops will only give you half of what they can sell the bass for. I know you say you don`t want the hassle of selling but depending on condition, you could get £130 ish. Another shout for Yamaha BB, at the price point you are looking at, it is a very strong contender. Buy one s/hand from here and you won`t go wrong. Or buy a new BB 234 from the shops.
  5. Lovely. Those Smith basses are one of the few boutique type basses that I would like to own.
  6. If any potential buyer is not keen on the Tone switch, I will replace it with a normal wiring loom from Kiogon. This would take a few days to sort out. I would solder the original one back in but I`m rubbish at soldering! Thanks for all the nice comments posted above 👍
  7. I can maybe see an Electra TT, black and maple on the horizon. Are the Electras decent basses?
  8. NOW SOLD Now for sale only £800 Made in Fullerton (on Fender avenue no less) this is their Deluxe version of their Standard P bass. Due to the ongoing carry on, this hasn`t been out the house since buying it. Regarding the condition, as you can see from the photos it is in exc condition. The only thing worthy of note is there is a small blemish on the front above the pickgaurd, it`s about an inch long and it doesn`t show up in a photograph and it can only be seen by tilting the bass into the light, the finish is intact. There is a small scratch above the tone knob but again it is hardly visible. The scratchplate had a bit of stick plastic to protect it and it was so sticky, I had to use a green pad to remove the glue residue so the finish on the plate is dull but looks fine. The bass is fitted with one of Kiogon`s Tone switch which is a 4 position switch and as usual with John`s kit, is excellent. The original loom is in the case should you want to re fit it. Specs: PICKUPS: One G&L vintage split-coil Alnico pickup BODY WOOD: Alder Bodies NECK WOOD: Vintage Tint Satin Hard Rock Maple with Caribbean Rosewood NECK PROFILE: G&L 1 5/8" Medium C with 9 1/2" radius FRETS: Medium Jumbo, Jescar 57110 18% nickel silver TUNING KEYS: Custom G&L "Ultra-Lite" with aluminum tapered string posts BRIDGE: G&L Saddle Lock with chrome-plated brass saddles ELECTRONICS: One volume control, one tone control CASE: G&L case The nut with is 42mm and the weight is 4.1 kg or 9.1 lb`s. Fitted with a new set of GHS Boomers. Any offers by pm please.
  9. I bought a new 70`s Classic Vibe Jazz and a Mustang bass earlier this year and they were spot on. I think you will find that some people have bought great basses and others aren`t so great. Much better if you can check them out yourself before parting with your cash. Apart from the fact that the tuners on the Mustang appeared to be made of cheese. Gorgonzola if I remember correctly......
  10. Kenny`s is always worth a look as sometimes they have great deals on various brands, usually Cort and Yamaha.
  11. Whilst looking out the parts for Matti, I found the 1100s neck plate which is very clean and shiny. If it is any good to anyone pm me your details and I will post it out to you. After checking the P pickup, the surround wont fit but if Matti can un solder the pickups then he can turn them round and re solder them and Bobs yer funny auntie.
  12. Well guess what I happen to have kicking about The pickups are from a Jap BB 1100s and even though the P pickup is the usual way round, I`m sure putting it on the other way would work. Might need to extend the wire? I`m selling Matti the tuners so I will send him a pm.
  13. I think that you offered me your original pickguard when I was moving on my Mike D Gav, many moons ago! They are cracking basses but the one I had weighed a bloomin ton. It was bought on here, I think I swapped it for a 60`s Jazz and moved it on after a while. Another one I regret moving on and seeing this one with a Status neck puts me right in the mood for another one.
  14. Dubjukie gigs with 2 of these cabs with a TC head and says the set up works well. Why not drop him a pm?
  15. They have a few shops up here but I remember asking the guy at the time why it was so cheap, I thought they might be B stock or similar but he said that Yamaha tend to use them to get rid of excess stock and they punt it out for a good price. If you are looking for something they are always worth a look. They have some cheap Corts at the moment as well. Not that I bought one
  16. Can`t remember the bit about the volume pot, playing in a rock band the volume goes up as far as it can 👍 I don`t remember it being very heavy, I tend to remember the heavy ones. I got me from Kenn`y Music in Glasgow for the cracking price of £300 new. I gigged it that weekend then sold soon after, god knows why. It was a lovely black one and looked a lot better once I removed that daft creamish colour scratchplate.
  17. I think that you have nailed it. I once played a support slot years ago and it was "for charity" and I found out that everyone was getting a slice of the money except us
  18. Whilst driving my truck, I mostly listen to LBC or Talksport on my fitted DAB radio or when someone comes on I don`t like, I stick on the music on my phone. At home it`s Youtube, I very rarely put on cd`s even though I own six or seven hundred of the things and they are sitting on the shelves right beside me. It`s just so much easier to listen to Youtube playlists. I listen to more and a bigger selection of music than any time in my life!
  19. Great idea! I would get an A/B pedal and run it that way but if the send/return idea works it`s all good. I had one a few years ago and moved it on, God knows why but the GAS is now strong for another one.
  20. Ah the old "chunky, baseball L2000 Tribute neck syndrome!" I haven`t heard of a replacement neck and GL don`t sell US necks to mere mortals as far as I know. Why not go to a luthier and ask them if they can shave it down for you? Should`nt cost a great deal. Or see if you can find a tribute neck from a JB, SB, M2000 or Kiliton as they are all smaller. I really don`t know why GL insist on building the L2000 with such a big neck.
  21. I bought the same bass recently and just checked and it weighs 4.06 kg so fine for me. Great basses as well. If in doubt maybe ask the seller to weigh before they despatch? I think that Sweetwater in the US show you the weight of each bass on their webshop. The problem with this idea could be the vast majority of shops never open the boxes before sending it out.
  22. The word drama has popped up in a few replies and it perfect way to describe how we feel about the band situations that some of us find ourselves in. Me, I love playing with some of the band, others I could gladly never see again. I haven`t played a gig in almost a year now and tbh I have missed the actual playing but everything else that goes with it...
