Whilst looking out the parts for Matti, I found the 1100s neck plate which is very clean and shiny. If it is any good to anyone pm me your details and I will post it out to you. After checking the P pickup, the surround wont fit but if Matti can un solder the pickups then he can turn them round and re solder them and Bobs yer funny auntie.

Well guess what I happen to have kicking about The pickups are from a Jap BB 1100s and even though the P pickup is the usual way round, I`m sure putting it on the other way would work. Might need to extend the wire? I`m selling Matti the tuners so I will send him a pm.

I think that you offered me your original pickguard when I was moving on my Mike D Gav, many moons ago! They are cracking basses but the one I had weighed a bloomin ton. It was bought on here, I think I swapped it for a 60`s Jazz and moved it on after a while. Another one I regret moving on and seeing this one with a Status neck puts me right in the mood for another one.

Dubjukie gigs with 2 of these cabs with a TC head and says the set up works well. Why not drop him a pm?

They have a few shops up here but I remember asking the guy at the time why it was so cheap, I thought they might be B stock or similar but he said that Yamaha tend to use them to get rid of excess stock and they punt it out for a good price. If you are looking for something they are always worth a look. They have some cheap Corts at the moment as well. Not that I bought one

Can`t remember the bit about the volume pot, playing in a rock band the volume goes up as far as it can 👍 I don`t remember it being very heavy, I tend to remember the heavy ones. I got me from Kenn`y Music in Glasgow for the cracking price of £300 new. I gigged it that weekend then sold soon after, god knows why. It was a lovely black one and looked a lot better once I removed that daft creamish colour scratchplate.

I think that you have nailed it. I once played a support slot years ago and it was "for charity" and I found out that everyone was getting a slice of the money except us

How much music do you actually listen to?
jezzaboy replied to TheGreek's topic in General Discussion
Whilst driving my truck, I mostly listen to LBC or Talksport on my fitted DAB radio or when someone comes on I don`t like, I stick on the music on my phone. At home it`s Youtube, I very rarely put on cd`s even though I own six or seven hundred of the things and they are sitting on the shelves right beside me. It`s just so much easier to listen to Youtube playlists. I listen to more and a bigger selection of music than any time in my life! -
Great idea! I would get an A/B pedal and run it that way but if the send/return idea works it`s all good. I had one a few years ago and moved it on, God knows why but the GAS is now strong for another one.

Fred Flintstone's war club aka G&L Tribute neck
jezzaboy replied to Andy Brice's topic in Bass Guitars
Ah the old "chunky, baseball L2000 Tribute neck syndrome!" I haven`t heard of a replacement neck and GL don`t sell US necks to mere mortals as far as I know. Why not go to a luthier and ask them if they can shave it down for you? Should`nt cost a great deal. Or see if you can find a tribute neck from a JB, SB, M2000 or Kiliton as they are all smaller. I really don`t know why GL insist on building the L2000 with such a big neck. -
I bought the same bass recently and just checked and it weighs 4.06 kg so fine for me. Great basses as well. If in doubt maybe ask the seller to weigh before they despatch? I think that Sweetwater in the US show you the weight of each bass on their webshop. The problem with this idea could be the vast majority of shops never open the boxes before sending it out.

Not sure if I can be bothered to go back to gigging
jezzaboy replied to BobVbass's topic in General Discussion
The word drama has popped up in a few replies and it perfect way to describe how we feel about the band situations that some of us find ourselves in. Me, I love playing with some of the band, others I could gladly never see again. I haven`t played a gig in almost a year now and tbh I have missed the actual playing but everything else that goes with it... -
The way I look at these things is if there is doubt about the provenance of a vintage instrument, it`s better to walk away. Especially if the seller is reluctant to do what most folk would consider reasonable (taking the neck off, showing the pot dates etc) to obtain a sale. There is always another vintage Fender round the corner.

The Johnny Cash version of "I`ve been everywhere" is a pretty wordy song. Get him to sing that!

Bailout announcement from the Music Venues Trust.
jezzaboy replied to Painy's topic in General Discussion
Spot on. Thankfully I don`t make my living from the entertainment industry but hopefully this will provide some help to those who depend on it to live. -
The body on the newer ones is smaller than the old BB`s and usually a bit lighter. They are cracking basses and not just for the money, just good basses.

But Dave that`s allowed as the Dead have the coolest looking stickers..... in the world! I have white Jazz bass GAS at the moment and that picture you posted is not helping.

Over the last 13 weeks of furlough I have spent far too much on gear, basses and effect pedals. I have had some right decent kit and moved it on fast losing some cash in the process. I`m beginning to think that all the wheeling and dealing is the only thing that has kept me on the right side of sanity as I have never had as much time off before. But I reckon I`m done bass wise. Now amps, that`s a different kettle of haddock.....

That cab looks interesting.

Bas bought a Zoom pedal from me. Good comms, quick payment and easy peasy all round!

Has Brian May only ever used one guitar?
jezzaboy replied to Barking Spiders's topic in General Discussion
His original black strat belonged to Paul Kossof and he bought it, stuck in some humbuckers and played the crap out of it but it has been retired for a few years now. -

Snowy White played his Gold top Les Paul on nearly everything he did for 40 odd years until he sold it in late 2014. -
Grounds for divorce right there my man!

I sold a bass amp to a guy from Cumbernauld (what`s it called?) who played in a Free tribute band, I think they were called Tons of slobs but maybe I made that bit up! He played a five string fretless Stingray. Andy Frazer and his Gibson must be turning in his grave

American Professional Prices Compared to Player
jezzaboy replied to thegummy's topic in Bass Guitars
The point regarding the case takes me back say 10 years or so. When you bought a Mexican Standard you got a gig bag with it, it might not have been the best gig bag but all the same for £350 all in you still had something to carry it home in. Fast forward to today, you pay £650 and get sod all bag. If they stopped offering a case with the US models, it wouldn`t be long before you were paying the same price if not more with sod all case. And we would be sitting here saying "remember the days when you used to get a case with a US P bass."
