I use this set up (only used it once but it works for me). Bass - tuner - TC Mojomojo - ART Mic pre amp, mostly used to control the volume - saves you going round the back of the cab to adjust the volume, once set just use the volume control on the pre - RCF 715. The desk signal can either be taken from the cab or pre. I`m going to get a few other effect pedals to put in front of the ART pre just to experiment.

I shipped a bass the same way as yourself - Interparcel via UPS and a few days later got an e mail from UPS saying I hadn`t gave them the correct dimensions for the package. I always give it a few cents extra so I knew they were talking bollocks. They said they would wave any charge this time but if it happened again they would charge me. Needless to say, they won`t get any more work from me, which saddens them greatly I bet

Aye short scale. I had one about 10 years ago and it was pretty meh if I remember. I played it just the once on a gig in a pub in Cumbernauld, the strap button fell off and it was brand new. Luckily it was the one at the neck and I caught it. Disclaimer: if it wasn`t one of these, it was the same idea. I`m 95% sure it was the same. I remember losing a wad of cash on it to get rid of it as well.

Really sorry to hear this Lozz. Every time I have read your posts regarding your band, you were always positive re the band and seemed to be enjoying yourself. It`s sad that your health is a deciding factor in you giving it up but you are doing the right thing. I hope you find something local that will have a less demanding schedule and will keep you playing.

There are a couple of Ashdown Mag 300`s on Glasgow gumtree at the moment. The 4 x 10 for £120 is exc for the money and if I had the space for it, I would be all over it. I played through one of these last week with an additional 4 x 10 and it was great.

Me and the band rockin Hellfest 3 in Blackpool`s Waterloo bar the other week and one from the Hard Rock cafe earlier on in the year. This might be our last gig as Laura our singer has knocked it on the head and finding another lady who can belt out AC/DC songs is proving rather difficult. -

Just completed a deal with Benedict. Super nice guy and dealing with B was a pleasure!

Lozz should be along shortly, I`m pretty sure he had one.

Ashdown amps are cracking bits of kit. The gig I had the other week, I took along my 15 year old MAG 300 head and 2 x 10 ABM cab and it filled a 200 seat room on it`s own with no pa support.

Is it just me but are the price of new basses just getting to the fr%ckin ridiculous stage?

I feel your pain brother for I am the same. After next Friday my band is knocking it on the head yet at the weekend I was seriously considering buying a G&L LB 100 P bass costing £1400! And I already have 3 nice P type basses!

A couple of hours 180 years' worth of Precisions

Ah but in 2019 its "a fantastic 72 P bass and not a boat anchor as some of these were!" -
I bought a Nate Mendel P bass as the shape and size of the neck is ideal for me. Not really a Foo`s fan but the bass has stayed whilst many others have come and gone. Everyone needs a P bass in their life

If I`m looking to get a new bass, I usually spend weeks mulling it over and end up getting it. But earlier today I had a wee peeky boo at Bass Direct and they had a 90`s BB1100s for £385 delivered. Set up and cleaned with fresh strings and a gig bag. Within seconds of checking the advert it was bought and is on it way! So much for not buying anymore basses!

Sometimes the time away doesn`t justify the pay. Earlier this year, we were asked to do a small festival in Fraserburgh as someone had let them down with little notice. We had played there last year and got £500 and free lodgings as it`s a 4 hour drive away. This time due to a budget problem (no cash!) they wanted us to do it for £250! I was the only one to knock it back and luckily we don`t have deps so we didn`t do the gig but the rest were all for it which made no sense as the week before we knocked back a gig in Stranraer, 2 hours away for £300! Sometimes it just doesnt make sense either time wise or money wise to do a gig. So I`m with you all the way Al.

Thats a bit of a strange one. It`s defo an Epiphone, Gibson don`t do bolt on versions as far as I know. Nowt wrong with the Epi, it`s a decent bass.

What about one of those Aria Cardinals, I think thats what they were called? Quite rare but the last one I seen was £350.

The Sire P7` is a really nice bass. The pre amp is one of it`s main selling points but if you run it in passive mode, it`s still a great sounding bass. And the rolled neck is super comfy. But the Sandberg is well sexy!

Where in the world are you? I have both long and short scale basses that you could try out and see what one suits you if you are in the West of Scotland. And the fact that they are both for sale has nothing to do with it
