  1. I don`t see why not. I have seen Les Pauls with the head nearly broken off repaired as good as new. A good tech should be able to sort it.
  2. Thanks for all the helpful replies. Getting the 2 of them back down is a fine idea.
  3. Just seen another topic re how to audition a singer. Well here is the "after the audition" topic.
  4. It`s a VM 77 and well worth £180 - £200 any day. I had one a while back, changed the tuners, knobs and bridge and it was a tasty guitar.
  5. For various reasons I will never own a Ric but that looks stunning!
  6. I have bought 2 recently from North west guitars, one black and the other tort. I have a Mex Players Jazz, they are of good quality and fit this model perfectly and cost me £15 posted first class. But not all Jazzes are the same so check before removing the clear vinyl.
  7. Sort of related. There was one of these on Bumtree Edinburgh recently. It didnt have a neck plate, just the screws into the neck, was scratched to bits all over the body, needed a setup and all for the bargain price of £300! I really wanted to write and tell the guy they were £200 brand new but why rain on his parade.
  8. Pete is the man. Read his book if you get a chance. A great and sometimes sad rock n roll story.
  9. I was standing outside a hotel in Frazerburgh where we were playing a small festival last year. I was talking to the lead singer of The Stones, a very nice chap who looks like Jagger a bit, surprise surprise. 2 women came up to us and asked who was the "Jagger guy in the band" Me, I replied and they proceeded to speak away to me until I had to fess up, it was the other guy. I look nothing like Mick by the way. Fame is such a fleeting thing.
  10. Is it just the one person they are looking for because if it is, looking at the job description, they better be getting a damm good wage for what is expected of them.
  11. Please note. The cab is for collection or meet up only. I don`t like using couriers for large items as the risk of the item being damaged is too great and causes no end of hassle. I don`t mind driving to meet up and have done a few deals at Carlisle in the past so if this is an option for you, just ask. Thanks!
  12. Gary please don`t. There is an old Ashdown joke regarding fire extinguishers that did the rounds a while ago, you don`t want to resurrect it! The EB will not take 2 x 4 ohms speaker plugged in at once. That would mean a 2 odd ohms load which will render it gubbed, I think that is the technical term. You can use 1 x 4 ohms speaker on its own or 2 x 8 ohms speakers. Really 2 x 4 ohms cabs aren`t really any good unless your amp can run at 2 ohms and it tends to be the more high power, expensive amps that can do this. I`m 99% sure that the EB can`t do a 2 ohms load but I could be wrong...
  13. Nope. It would need to be 1 x 4 ohms speaker or 2 x 8 ohms speakers. Don`t use a 4 and 8 ohms with the EB or it will do the old puff of smoke! To be honest, I don`t know if changing the speaker will be much of an "upgrade" If the original speaker is a 150 watt jobbie, putting in a 400 watt speaker won`t do much good if the head is only pushing out 150 odd watts and it will more than likely be less than that. Also the original speaker is designed to be used in the cab and the Soundlab might not be. But hey, if you like sound it`s all good.
  14. I will buy this genuine Fender with my genuine £18 pound notes! Just hope I am "the lucky guy!"
  15. **NOW SOLD** I got this earlier on this year in a trade but have only used it once as the vast majority of the gigs I do are through supplied backline. I think it`s a Gen 1 Compact but maybe someone can keep me right on this. It`s in good condition except for a small dent on the front, bottom left as you look at the cab edge (see 2nd photo), there are a couple of other very minor dings on the front near to the grill. There are a few marks on the plastic parts that hold the strap on. The metal corners are in good condition. The rest of the cab is fine. One of the rubber feet was missing so I replaced the all the rubbers so they match. It`s an 8 ohms cab, 12 kg and can handle up to 600 watts. Link to the Barefaced page: https://barefacedbass.com/index.php/compact.htm?page=product-range/compact.htm ****I might trade for a 5 string bass of similar value**** The cab is for sale only, no trades thanks and collection only from Paisley just outside Glasgow or I don`t mind a drive to meet up, just ask.
  16. Have you lost your marbles?? Don`t you know that mixing cabs from different manufacturers upsets the space time continuum and the world could end!! Think of the children!
  17. To the op. I think that if you are looking for that kind of information you would be better buying from a shop where you can test the bass to your hearts content. I`m not trying to be cheeky or sarcastic by the way, it`s just what I would do if I was in your position.
  18. So you don`t think that offering half the advertised price of a bass that`s at a very good price to start with is a ridiculous offer? Please give me a shout the next time you have a bass for sale 😊
  19. Nathan is a superb guitarist as well as bass player. Makes you sick! 😊
  20. Having owned a few combo`s, I am now firmly in the head and cab camp. It lets you change things round easier if you get fed up with the sound and fancy a change. You could buy a small Class D amp like the TC BH and BQ range, budget amps with headphone and aux sockets built in and get a decent 2 x 10 cab and it will be enough to play pubs on their own. I use an Ashdown ABM 500 and a Bareface cab or there are plenty of bargains to be had if you don`t mind a bit of weight Combo wise you can`t go wrong with the Rumble 500, which sound very different to your 15 watt Rumble or the RM series from Ashdown or some of the Markbass gear. Really it all depends on your budget but if you intend to gig in the future, I would go with something with around 500 watts. You won`t always need all the power but it`s better to have than not. There is so much choice these days. If you post your location, someone local could let you have a blast through their gear. Your bass will sound so much better through a decent set up.
  21. I have had all sorts in a P bass but the best ones were the custom shop one fitted standard in a Mike Dirnt Mexican P and my current favourite is in my Nate Mendel, a Tonerider with one of John`s wiring looms. Not expensive either.
  22. There is a guy round my way that every time I put a bass up for sale on Gumtree he will give you a lowball offer. If you are asking £300 he will say something like "I know you are looking for £300 but I have £150 and can come over and collect the bass today." After 2 or 3 of these offers, I sent him back a mail congratulating him on giving a stupid offer on every bass I have put up for sale. Haven`t heard back from him since.
  23. Buyer - "I will take the item, how do you want paying" Me - "Bank payment please if thats ok?" 5 days later, buyer responds. "Thats fine." Me - "It sold 2 days ago after you didn`t get back to me."
  24. Keep on playing the Mex Player. I own a Jazz Player and it`s a great bass and am going to use it as my main bass in a new project. It`s hard when you buy a cheaper instrument and it speaks to you more/is easier to play than your more expensive basses but you have to play what suits you best. I prefer the Jazz which was half the price of my Sandberg and thats a hard one let me tell you
