Nope. It would need to be 1 x 4 ohms speaker or 2 x 8 ohms speakers. Don`t use a 4 and 8 ohms with the EB or it will do the old puff of smoke! To be honest, I don`t know if changing the speaker will be much of an "upgrade" If the original speaker is a 150 watt jobbie, putting in a 400 watt speaker won`t do much good if the head is only pushing out 150 odd watts and it will more than likely be less than that. Also the original speaker is designed to be used in the cab and the Soundlab might not be. But hey, if you like sound it`s all good.

I will buy this genuine Fender with my genuine £18 pound notes! Just hope I am "the lucky guy!"

**NOW SOLD** I got this earlier on this year in a trade but have only used it once as the vast majority of the gigs I do are through supplied backline. I think it`s a Gen 1 Compact but maybe someone can keep me right on this. It`s in good condition except for a small dent on the front, bottom left as you look at the cab edge (see 2nd photo), there are a couple of other very minor dings on the front near to the grill. There are a few marks on the plastic parts that hold the strap on. The metal corners are in good condition. The rest of the cab is fine. One of the rubber feet was missing so I replaced the all the rubbers so they match. It`s an 8 ohms cab, 12 kg and can handle up to 600 watts. Link to the Barefaced page: https://barefacedbass.com/index.php/compact.htm?page=product-range/compact.htm ****I might trade for a 5 string bass of similar value**** The cab is for sale only, no trades thanks and collection only from Paisley just outside Glasgow or I don`t mind a drive to meet up, just ask.

Have you lost your marbles?? Don`t you know that mixing cabs from different manufacturers upsets the space time continuum and the world could end!! Think of the children!

To the op. I think that if you are looking for that kind of information you would be better buying from a shop where you can test the bass to your hearts content. I`m not trying to be cheeky or sarcastic by the way, it`s just what I would do if I was in your position.

So you don`t think that offering half the advertised price of a bass that`s at a very good price to start with is a ridiculous offer? Please give me a shout the next time you have a bass for sale 😊

Nathan is a superb guitarist as well as bass player. Makes you sick! 😊

Having owned a few combo`s, I am now firmly in the head and cab camp. It lets you change things round easier if you get fed up with the sound and fancy a change. You could buy a small Class D amp like the TC BH and BQ range, budget amps with headphone and aux sockets built in and get a decent 2 x 10 cab and it will be enough to play pubs on their own. I use an Ashdown ABM 500 and a Bareface cab or there are plenty of bargains to be had if you don`t mind a bit of weight Combo wise you can`t go wrong with the Rumble 500, which sound very different to your 15 watt Rumble or the RM series from Ashdown or some of the Markbass gear. Really it all depends on your budget but if you intend to gig in the future, I would go with something with around 500 watts. You won`t always need all the power but it`s better to have than not. There is so much choice these days. If you post your location, someone local could let you have a blast through their gear. Your bass will sound so much better through a decent set up.

I have had all sorts in a P bass but the best ones were the custom shop one fitted standard in a Mike Dirnt Mexican P and my current favourite is in my Nate Mendel, a Tonerider with one of John`s wiring looms. Not expensive either.

There is a guy round my way that every time I put a bass up for sale on Gumtree he will give you a lowball offer. If you are asking £300 he will say something like "I know you are looking for £300 but I have £150 and can come over and collect the bass today." After 2 or 3 of these offers, I sent him back a mail congratulating him on giving a stupid offer on every bass I have put up for sale. Haven`t heard back from him since.

Buyer - "I will take the item, how do you want paying" Me - "Bank payment please if thats ok?" 5 days later, buyer responds. "Thats fine." Me - "It sold 2 days ago after you didn`t get back to me."

Keep on playing the Mex Player. I own a Jazz Player and it`s a great bass and am going to use it as my main bass in a new project. It`s hard when you buy a cheaper instrument and it speaks to you more/is easier to play than your more expensive basses but you have to play what suits you best. I prefer the Jazz which was half the price of my Sandberg and thats a hard one let me tell you

Good choice! Cant go wrong with a Yamaha.

That Stevie is a damm good point and one I haven`t though of!😊

If you are near to Andertons, go in and play any bass you can afford (imo you can`t go wrong with a budget Yamaha or Ibanez) and ask them to check the set up if you decide to buy. If you buy it online, most of the big stores don`t open up budget basses and check the set up no matter what they say so always better to go in person if possible. Save yourself £80 on a set up!

When he started making vids with Rob Chapman aka Chappers, Rob thought that Lee needed a nickname so he started calling him the Captain. Simple as that!

I own 3 basses at the moment (lightweight I know) and I have bought them all from Guitarguitar. This isnt due to loyalty to GG it`s just that they had what I wanted at the right price. 2 were bought online, 1 from the shop. There is a local shop but the last time I was in there (which was a few years ago to be fair) they had a couple of packets of Rotosounds and a small selection of basses and guitars. Everything they had in stock was about £40 more expensive than going to any of the shops in Glasgow. I would like to support the shop but they don`t have what I want at the price others charge. And therein lies the problem for small shops. I try and buy from places that have actual shops and a good online store.

I have always said this about bands. Small things happen, maybe over the course of a year or two and unless they are nipped in the bud or sorted out these small events all build up to members getting fed up with the situation and walking. I guess most of us have been there. As the old saying goes, bands are great things apart from the tossers that are in them. I hope you get your band sorted as it sounds as if it was a good thing at one time.

I have owned a evo 3 and still own a evo 2. Great amps. I haven`t used a 600 but Guitarguitar had one s/h a few weeks ago for around £350. I payed £325 for my evo 2 from GG but it was s/h and I am very happy with it. I had an issue with it (but it was 10 years old and I don`t think the courier was very gentle with it) and Ashdown could not have been any more helpful and sorted the issue in a few days. I have seen the 500`s go from £220 to £280 ish. The 600 has more eq options but for me the 500 has enough. But I would go with the Lozz man opinions on the 600.

I love the song Burn but all this "voice of rock" stuff that seems to follow him around puts me right off the guy.

What famous musicians death most shocked you

Your right! For me it`s more like the passing of someone that whilst I never knew the guy on a personal level, there was a time in my life when the music they created really meant something to me in my life for a multitude of reasons. -

When Marc Bolan died I remember the 11 year old me thinking that it was strange that he died in a Mini and not a Rolls Royce or some other expensive car. It`s weird the things that you remember. -

For me it was Cozy Powell, a monster drummer who played on most of my favourite records and was seemingly a right decent guy: Rick Parfitt, just cos it was Rick and he seemed indestructible and Tom Petty, someone who I only got right into a few years before his death, what a loss to music. The last one to shock me was Ted McKenna who died during a routine operation in January. -
Bugger, one of my local pubs. Had I not been gigging at that time, I would have been down there.

My mob are playing the Bonfest festival next Saturday in Kirremuir, in the town hall at 4 pm. Should be a good one.
