Spot on. I have nothing against the brand and I would happily gig one of the Jazz or P bass Vintage copies. I have owned a couple of the Sterling Sub`s and for the money they are really good.

Had one a while back but I would look for a s/h Sterling Sub. The shape of the Vintage one just looks wrong to me. Get a Sub and stick a Stingray sticker on the headstock

Ta for that. That is a JB 2 model which I had before and is really nice but the one I was looking for was the JB 3 model. Familiar Jazz looks with a maple neck. But they have a really nice LB 100 in DV247. https://www.guitarguitar.co.uk/product/180807330996008--gl-tribute-jb-3-tone-sunburst-black-pickguard-mn

Don`t get to excited by "we can order this from our supplier." Nothing against Andertons but I tried to order a Tribute version of the Jazz bass from GG and after a week they came back and said that they didn`t have a clue when or if they could ever get one for me. I have just checked their website and it still says available to order! Someone at the G&L importer or GG`s online store needs to get their act together.

Sad news indeed. I love The colour of spring from 86. Pretty dark album but sometimes it just hits the spot for me.

You mentioned the 505. You can get a brand new one for £529 from GG. But if the 755, which is no longer a current model in this finish, is in really good condition, I would go for the 755. Better pickups imo and the wood finish on it is a lot better than the 505. The SR500 I owned had a very bland finish. If I remember right, I payed £720 ish for the 4 string model a couple of years ago so the price seems ok for a as new model from a shop. But at the end of the day Chris only you can decide which one is right for you.

Remind me never to get Bazzer the Bodger to never do any work on a bass of mine. Not to say that the butcher job is down to Baz. Maybe Macca owned it in the 60`s? Could be worth a fortune....

I had the 4 string version and it was really nice. Norstrand designed pickups, active/passive switching, 3 band eq. Whats not to like if you are looking for an Ibby? Make sure you like it as if you don`t and try to move it on, Ibanez basses usually take a hit if selling on. Wrongly in my opinion. But I would buy this rather than a 505. Good luck!

In a recent Andertons video they bought some Custom shop tele`s, most were reliced, some were not. Guess what one are still sitting on the shop floor whilst the others flew out the door? Yep the non relics are still sitting there much to Mr Andertons displeasure. The Sandbergs are great basses and a reliced one is on my list of wants when the cash is available.

They usually go for £160 to £200 so £80 is a bargain.

E books are great for me. Saves oodles of space, you can make the font bigger - good if your eyesight wasn`t what it once was, you can link onto articles in some books right from the page and it`s so easy to download a book when you have run out of things to read. And if you keep your eye on Amazon, there are some good deals to be had.

I had a hankering for one as well. Bought it and very quickly no longer had said hankering. I know some people like them but it is by far the worst bass I have owned. If I was looking for one I would have to get one of the re issues or a vintage one.

I had one I got form here. Weighed a lot but sounded great.

Such a good bass player, Elton sacked him. Twice! There is some ex stuff from the BBC when it was just the 3 of them on Ya Tube.
-
That looks really nice with the black guard.

Cheers for the heads up re the book. But I bought it for the Kindle as it`s my preferred way of reading but the book format doesn`t transfer to the Kindle very well so I will return the electronic copy and buy the book.

I reckon the black strat and no: 1 will go for way more than the estimate. I can hear Joe Bonamasa raiding his piggy bank right now! It is a very noble thing he is doing especially as the guitars must mean a lot to him. And the fact that they were used to play some of the most iconic music ever made just ups the ante.

Tina Weymouth BBC bass programme in Jan
jezzaboy replied to arthurhenry's topic in General Discussion
I thought the program was pretty poor to be honest. Seemed to spend a lot of time on doo wop and upright bass and never really mentioned the P bass which started off the whole solid body game. -
Designed to reduce the weight from your rig, but not from your tone, Mi series cabs are compact, road-ready enclosures that punch well above their weight. Weighing just 16 kg (35.3 Lbs), the Ashdown Mi 12 features a single 12" driver and tuned 1" tweeter to deliver 250W of full-bodied bass tone. Cab for sale only, a few scuffs on the tolex, nothing to serious but this is reflected in the price. Ideal for monitoring, small gigs, home use or adding to a combo to get the full power from your amp. Collection from Paisley only or local meet up. ***NOW SOLD***

Your experiences of playing in a tribute band.
jezzaboy replied to Grassie's topic in General Discussion
Hey mate. I play in an acdc covers band and just played the Hard rock last Friday through Shock city productions. They have bands on there almost every Friday night. They looked after us well. Maybe give them a shout when you are up and running? We don`t really look like the band: I gotta wear glasses as I can`t see my hand in front of my face without them and we have a female singer that doesn`t look a bit like Bon! We do have an Angus with a school uniform though! We concentrate more on creating the songs as the band played them. We used to do pubs where we sometimes died on our derrière but now do about 1 gig a month but they are more tailored to a target audience. We are supporting Brian Downeys Live and dangerous next month in Prestwick then playing Bonfest later on in the year up in Kirremuir.
