  1. I`ve just bought a P bass today! Does that make me a pro? Mabye not as it`s a Sandberg not a Fender.
  2. This isnt helping my "I need a white P bass" gas at all. Lovely!
  3. Now for sale to anyone who wants a shortie!
  4. This is now back up for sale as my G&L isn`t shifting. The new price is £370 which is a bargain. I would prefer collection but if you want to arrange your own courier, I have a hard case that I can stick it in and have it ready for collection. The bass would have to be paid for by bank transfer and UK only. Someone contacted me (sorry cant remember who) when I first put it up for sale asking about postage but I have deleted the message so I will give them 24 hours for first dibs on it. If I don`t hear from them by 7 30 pm on Friday, if someone else wants it, it`s yours. If whoever it was reads this, can you let me know if you are still interested?
  5. I got mine in early December from Thomman so I don`t know if it`s from the "new" batch or not. The switch is the wrong way round and as I said on page 5, the gain light is a little strange. I have since used the head mainly as a headphone amp for home use. I plugged in my Nate Mendel P bass fitted with one of John`s wiring kits and a Tonerider pickup and the red light was on with the gain at a quarter whilst in passive mode. I had to switch into active mode and move the gain to just over half to get a decent volume out of it with the red gain light coming on slightly. I haven`t had a chance to give this thing a bit of volume yet as I stay in a flat but I am in the studio early next months and will kick it`s butt and see what happens. I can`t make my up mind up yet if it`s a good bit of kit with a strange to me gain/master volume circuit or a piece of crap
  6. I have a P7 version 2 and the neck is really comfy. You should watch Marcus M`s YT clip he did at the Chicago music exchange (if I remember right) he explains the eq in particular the mids control which is the bit that had me a bit confused at first. Re the bridge. I kept the base plate but changed the barrel`s for Wilkinson brass ones and stuck on a set of Schaller tuners.
  7. All time best Rush? Got to be A farewell to kings. But I like all the albums up to Counterparts but after that nah not for me.
  8. I almost pulled the trigger on that bass myself but he who dithers aboot.... Looked a nice bit of kit for a decent price. It`s good that GG offered to take the bass back and please report back if you hear anything re the story of "the wrong neck!"
  9. I`m buying sod all next year. I have more than enough gear for a player of my limited skill We should all return here on the 1st of January 2020 and see who was talking garbage...
  10. The one and only price drop seein as it`s Christmas! £275
  11. I recently had a 4 strings version of this and the overall quality was really good. Great bass at a great price, GLWTS.
  12. I now have a hard case that I can post this bass in (the case is for protection only whilst in transport) but here is the deal. Payment by bank transfer only and you can arrange your own courier UK only. I will pack it up and have someone at home on the collection day to give the package to your courier.
  13. Just bought back my old BB from Tom that I sold him in June. So good to have the old girl back. Another easy, smooth sale with Tom, just what selling/buying on this forum is all about. Ta Gerry
  14. JB 2 Tribute Jazz bass for sale only, no trades thanks. After promising myself not to buy any more basses, I have just bought back my old BB so I need to get some funds back in the bank. This is a bass with an identity problem. They call it their Jazz bass but as you can see it has an L series shaped body but with Jazz pickups But hey, it`s a cracking bass and there`s not too many about. The neck is 38 mm at the nut but the neck is slightly "chunkier", more of C shape, a bit more meat in the hand, still comfy though. Speaking of the nut, it has a new bone one fitted and had a recent set up by Strung out in Glasgow. It has a fresh set of D`Adarrio`s fitted. It also has the saddle lock bridge which is a great bit of kit itself, you set it up and lock the saddles in place using an allen bolt on the bottom edge of the bridge: rock solid. Weight is around 8.5 lb`s. Really good condition. Collection is preferred but see 3rd post re posting. Specs Swamp ash body Maple neck Radius: 12" Nut width: 38 mm Pickups: 2 G&L designed Vintage Alnico V Single Coils G&L designed Saddle-Lock Bridge 2 Volume knobs and 1 master tone knob
  15. Don`t think it was a prototype as I have an ABM 2 x 10 mini, made in the UK that I cannot find any mention of except in the Gear4music website, which is where I bought it. The one I have has Celestion speakers rated at 300 watts and a strap type handle on the top. The one`s on the Ashdown website have Sica drivers and a recessed handle on the top. It seems that your ex cab and mine are from a secret stash that Ashdown released then erased from their history I seem to recall a 4 x 8 cab on the same advert for the same price?
  16. Right, had a mess about with the amp plugged into a cab. When the master is at zero even if the gain is zero, the clip light stays on when you hit any string. Move the master off zero, to say 9 o`clock, you can boost the gain up to over half way and the clip light only comes on at the peaks, as it should. Must be something to do with the relationship between the gain and master.
  17. Just picked up one of these from Thomman as I got some Crimbo cash. The active/passive switch is still the wrong way round and in passive mode, the red gain light comes on constantly even when the gain is at zero!! Passive P bass. Any ideas?
  18. The other guy is Lee. Nathan is a sh*t hot player whether on bass or guitar. But Dood`s videos are cool as well!
  19. The live Dead from 72 to 74, my favourite era! Whats the name of your band Dave? Any clips? Lovely looking bass but I can get away with 3 strings and sometimes 2
  20. Hey Mbm. Just my experience. My first band was a charity band put together to do 1 gig. Even though I hadn`t played in a band before, I quickly sussed out that the band was crap basically. But I got on really well with the drummer, we are mates and have found myself in various projects with him over the years. So maybe you should try and broaden your horizons a bit and play with people that you might not have considered before? What have you got to lose?
  21. NOW SOLD.
  22. It`s not a slab as they had maple boards and this has a rosewood board. Cliff played this one or a similar one (they weren`t well off at this time so I guess it was a band owned instrument) in his early days after Mark left. It can be seen in clips from 77.
  23. He`s the guitarist? Get shot of him, there`s loads about!! Couldn`t have put it better myself.
  24. Having taken on board the advice of the crack Basschat legal team 😁 and a text or two, I have come to the conclusion that the guy isn`t a scammer trying to rob me of my immense wealth and property, he just seems to do things in a more "relaxed" manner than myself. It`s not how I would conduct myself in a sale/buying situation but we are all different. I will hold the bass for him unless someone comes along before him and offers me the cash which I will grab with my sweaty mitts! Lets remember what the wise Sargent said....
