I had a V3 and it was a good bass. Then I sold it like a t%t! I`m looking to get an active bass again and it`s a toss up between a Sire V7 and a BB 734. Thing is, I can get a V7 and a V3 for the price of the Yammy. But I love BB`s...First world problems.

Humble instruments that 'make the song'
jezzaboy replied to Barking Spiders's topic in General Discussion
The "8 bars of piano" in Down at the doctors by Dr Feelgood really tie the song together in my opinion...😏 -
But you can say the same of Geddy`s Jazz bass. He paid something like $200 for it and the US version is just under £2000. The Pino and the Geddy are high end models in the Fender range and you are always going to pay a premium for these models. Are they worth the money? That is something that only the buyer can answer. I also love that people talk about Geddy`s iconic 72 Jazz. It`s all original except for the neck, bridge and pickups!

Cant go wrong with a Rumble 500. Light, powerful and fosters easy to get a great sound. Ideal for a bit of P bass goodness. It puts out about 300 watts on it`s own, add another cab to get yer 500 watts. There is a monster thread on Talkbass about these. Fosters?? Damm you profanity filter!

Ta for all the replies. I`m gonna get the Hiscox.

I`m looking to get a case. I have narrowed it down to an SKB FB4 or a Hiscox STD. I prefer the shape of these to the large rectangular types. Any users on here?

Cool. Was looking at one of these, be good to hear your thoughts.

I used to buy Bass magazine but stopped getting it as I only knew 2 or 3 players that were in the mag. I recently bought the Guy Pratt edition. I only knew 2 or 3 of the players in it! This may be due to my taste in music of course. And I don`t think much of their reviews, lots of pictures and not much info about the product. I might give the new mag a whirl when it appears.

Good shop Kenny`s. Got a few good deals in the Glasgow branch.

Oki doki, never knew that. Glad you like the sound.

I think you will be ok with the 8 ohm cab. If it was the other way round it would be a problem: 8 ohms max load and your cab was 4 ohm. Of course I could have the wrong end of the stick re your description. Someone with more sense will be along shortly.... Nice amp, always fancied one of the Veyron models as a cheap back up.

A classic from 79. He wasn`t allowed to say "cowson" as someone in the bbc said it was offensive so on this live vocal, watch his face after the first Gertcha he misses it out and has a smile to himself. Nice bass playing as well.

I`m on the look out for a new bass and obviously I`m checking in here on a regular basis. I mean, who`s got time to practice when you are looking at great basses for sale But the amount of adverts with little info is doing my head in. Maybe it`s just me but things like: Where is your location? The amount of adverts that are collect only and then the poster doesn`t put their location especially with bass cabs is frustrating. Not all members have their location in their avatar. Will you post the bass or is it collect only? If you are willing to post, will it come in a hard case, what about insurance, UK only? Weight. This is no big deal for me but for lots of potential buyers it is a deal breaker. It doesn`t take a lot of effort to get a rough weight. And some nice pics of the bass would go down well. A question to the mods. Would it be a major hassle to have a sort of standard form that you fill in when posting something for sale? I realise you guys are busy people and I may be looking for an answer to a problem that doesn`t exist except in my own mind!

Hey Thomas. Richtone is bad for that, lots of the new basses they show are "special order" which basically means they aint got them! Try putting a wanted advert on the Marketplace on here, they sometimes come up for sale.

I was planning on buying a bass but it has fell through. I would prefer a sale but if you have a nice Jazz bass or a G&L of some kind to swap, I may be interested. I should have put this info in earlier. I`m not keen on posting the bass and would rather meet up in person to do a swap. I don`t mind driving a good bit for a meet. I know this cuts down the number of potential deals but posting isn`t worth the stress for me. I thank you!

But is it any good for metal? Coat gotten....

I had a look at a green model in GG in Glasgow and thought the roasted finish on the back of the neck was very unattractive, especially for the money you are shelling out.

Fender Mexican 50`s P bass for sale. As new condition, made in 2017, bought in January this year, totally standard except for strap locks which will be swapped back to the original buttons. No dings, fret wear or buckle rash. I reckon the price is pretty fair for a bass in this condition. The weight is 8 to 8.5 lb`s with the old stand on the scales method. Will come with the Fender gig bag that came with the bass. No trades please and I am not willing to post this bass, no exceptions so please don`t ask. I live in Paisley just outside Glasgow and am willing to travel a bit for a meet up, if that is an option for you, just ask. Price drop to £500 collected.

It`s a rather bad copy. For that money I would look for a second hand Sterling Sub Ray. At least the Sub bass is from the MM family (I know its not a real MM before someone says it) and is a decent budget bass.

I will give you £175 for it!! 😀 Nah, it`s worth about £450 -£500. Do a search on the for sale forum.
