  1. This video popped up on Andertons All about the bass today. It might help or maybe not....
  2. To be honest, I`m not really looking for "a sound" when I buy a bass. I usually just go "ooohhh shiny thing!" and it`s done usually.
  3. I will get some pics up when I change the tuners. The rolled edges make quite a difference, the neck is very comfy, something all basses should have but I imagine it would be costly. The fret ends are well finished as well, no jagged edges anywhere.
  4. Available again £370.
  5. And after all the debate about wattage or the perception of said watts, the above post is the most important one. Stew loves the amp. A happy bass player!
  6. So, I bit the bullet and got a Version 2 P7 from Andertons. Good points: Nice burst finish, the neck feels played in and is really comfy, I`m liking the blocks and binding, the back of the neck is super smooth, the range of tones from the pre amp is a s good as ever, weigh is 9.2 lbs. I can`t really comment on the new pickups as I haven`t had the chance to play it loud through my amp as I live in a flat. The following aren`t "bad" just things that don`t suit me. The bridge saddles had to go, I don`t like the look of them so I put on a set of Wilkinson brass saddles, the tuners work ok but again I don`t like the look of them or the feel to be honest so I have a set of Schallers coming in the post, when you adjust the volume control the tone piece of the pot moves along with it: this didn`t happen on the V models as it has a different type of knob. I could have bought a Mexican P bass for £130 odd extra and I still wouldn`t like the tuners and bridge and the Sire has the pre amp with passive option which is my main reason for buying it. Overall, I like it. It is fitted with D`addario strings, I had the saddles and the Schallers are £60 so £545 all in.
  7. Just read Eric Idle`s new book. He was standing somewhere with George Harrison and a guy walked up and astonished at seeing George, he asked him what he was doing here, "everybody`s gotta be somewhere" says George.
  8. Back up for sale!!
  9. Rich is spot on. A while back I bought a V7 and didn`t like the bridge, tuners, knobs and other things about the bass. I sent it back, I don`t think I gave the bass a chance tbh, but earlier this year bought a V3 for £230 and grew to love the bass. The pre amp is really useful when you are playing through supplied back line when you just don`t know what you are going to be playing through. I have been eyeing up a P7 version 2 in Andertons and I think I`m going to order it as I prefer the P bass shape.
  10. Cort basses are pretty cool instruments. They make stuff for g&l, Ibanez and a multitude of others no doubt. Buy it online, try it out and if you don`t like it, send it back. If I was looking for an active bass I would get a Sire. I am seriously looking at a P7 version 2 model in Andertons at the moment at just under £500.
  11. Just sold my P bass to Paul. He is new to the forum but it was a pleasure doing business with him.

  13. Now sold. Thanks Paul.
  14. I had a V3 and it was a good bass. Then I sold it like a t%t! I`m looking to get an active bass again and it`s a toss up between a Sire V7 and a BB 734. Thing is, I can get a V7 and a V3 for the price of the Yammy. But I love BB`s...First world problems.
  15. The "8 bars of piano" in Down at the doctors by Dr Feelgood really tie the song together in my opinion...😏
  16. But you can say the same of Geddy`s Jazz bass. He paid something like $200 for it and the US version is just under £2000. The Pino and the Geddy are high end models in the Fender range and you are always going to pay a premium for these models. Are they worth the money? That is something that only the buyer can answer. I also love that people talk about Geddy`s iconic 72 Jazz. It`s all original except for the neck, bridge and pickups!
  17. Cant go wrong with a Rumble 500. Light, powerful and fosters easy to get a great sound. Ideal for a bit of P bass goodness. It puts out about 300 watts on it`s own, add another cab to get yer 500 watts. There is a monster thread on Talkbass about these. Fosters?? Damm you profanity filter!
  18. Ta for all the replies. I`m gonna get the Hiscox.
  19. I`m looking to get a case. I have narrowed it down to an SKB FB4 or a Hiscox STD. I prefer the shape of these to the large rectangular types. Any users on here?
  20. Cool. Was looking at one of these, be good to hear your thoughts.
  21. I used to buy Bass magazine but stopped getting it as I only knew 2 or 3 players that were in the mag. I recently bought the Guy Pratt edition. I only knew 2 or 3 of the players in it! This may be due to my taste in music of course. And I don`t think much of their reviews, lots of pictures and not much info about the product. I might give the new mag a whirl when it appears.
  22. Good shop Kenny`s. Got a few good deals in the Glasgow branch.
  23. Oki doki, never knew that. Glad you like the sound.
  24. I think you will be ok with the 8 ohm cab. If it was the other way round it would be a problem: 8 ohms max load and your cab was 4 ohm. Of course I could have the wrong end of the stick re your description. Someone with more sense will be along shortly.... Nice amp, always fancied one of the Veyron models as a cheap back up.
