To the op. Re your other thread, yes a pa cab will do the biz. I use a RCF 715 but any decent 12" or 15" pa cab will do, Yamaha, QSC, etc. I stick a Sans amp in front of it, play in a loud rock band and have used it as a monitor and as my backline with no problems. But a decent one will cost you from £450 and upwards if bought new.

£975 Sandberg California II VS4 - Black Soft Aged - *WITHDRAWN*
jezzaboy replied to RickW's topic in Basses For Sale
Lovely bass, great colour combo. GLWTS Yes you can buy a plate from the Sandberg online shop but if you are in the UK, they don`t post to us! You need to order it through a authorised Sandberg dealer. They will get you one but only usually when they are getting a delivery of basses. It`s bloomin mental. Or get someone from Ireland to order it for you. They ain`t all that expensive either. -
I have mentioned this mob before. Via a recommendation on here, I used Overland Express multiple times. The one time I had a problem (not their fault, Richtone music problem) they couldn`t have been more helpful even getting the original APC driver to call into Richtone and sort it out. They use various shippers and we all know they all have their problems from time to time but they are at the end of the phone or e mail and they went the extra mile to sort out this issue. Much better than dealing with a bot on a computer. These sometimes cheap couriers are great until something goes wrong with your bass worth a load of cash. I have no connection to OE by the way, just found them to be good.

Over the last year, we have had a bit of upheaval in my band. Just when I think everything is sorted, something else pops up to threaten the future of the band. Too long a story to get into but it almost fell apart a couple of weeks back and I decided that if it did, I was finished with bands. I seem to have ended up the voice of reason and the peacemaker. I have a few nice basses but it takes me all my time to pick them up these days to practice so if this version of the band goes t*ts up, I`m gonna knock bands on the head and just play for pleasure in the house.

The best value gig bag at the price, plenty of padding.

I owned a red version of the Pawn shop when they came out and to be honest I`m astounded at the price that some are charging. On the one I had the bridge was fitted slightly out of line and I had it sent back to Fender who said there was nowt wrong with it. Apart from that, the finish and fit was ok. The pickup was very dark sounding and thumpy but with that kind of pickup, I guess that`s what you get. I came to conclusion that the sound wasn`t for me and I traded it in to GG who gave me £250 as I just wanted shot of it. Not one of my finest moment. I owned a Vintera and that was nice but a JMJ or a Japanese re issue is what I would go for.

The Rumble 500`s are about 350 watts on their own, to get the full 500 you need to add another 8 ohms cab. But having said that, I gigged the 500 combo on it`s on for a few months and it was loud enough for pubs/clubs. (In other words, what Sibob wrote above! ) The Ashdown studio 15 is 300 watts but I would take that with a pinch of salt as someone on here bought an Ashdown and it only had something like a 180 watt speaker fitted and I don`t think you can add another cab? I would get another Rumble 500 in a heart beat if I was looking for a light, loud combo that won`t break the bank.

If you remove the scratch plate it might have road worn stamped into the body. The Nate Mendel certainly has this and as it`s part of the road worn series, I would imagine this should be the same. But apart from that, the finish doesn`t look right. It even looks like a sander job and no serial number? I wonder why Looks like a Mexican Classic 60`s model to me.

No GAS for basses but even though I moved on my Ashdown stack a couple of weeks back and am planning on using my RCF speaker if I need backline, I find myself drawn to looking at amps and cabs again. It`s madness I tell ya!

If your daughter is young and smallish, I would recommend a short scale Harley Benton P bass. Had one a while back and after a set up was a damm fine bass,

A few years back, I replaced 10" speakers in an Ashdown cab. Spoke to Dave who sorted me out with a set at almost half the price Blue Arran wanted and delivered them next day. Superb service!

Silly fact. It was Billy Bremner who played the solo on Back in the chain gang by the Pretenders. And Tony Butler on bass.

Thanks for all the helpful replies👌

I bought the red P bass last year, just days before being told I was getting paid off! Sold it but it was a great bass at £400, better at this price though. -

Like lots of us on here I do the occasional gig. I`m not a professional musician, I don`t make loads of money doing it but do get paid for it sometimes. I`m doing the car insurance quote bit and as it`s a bit of a nightmare trying to work out the best deal, most policy`s state that for social, domestic and commuting use but excluding any trade or professional use. Does doing gigs if you get paid for them come under these conditions? Does anyone else bother? Thoughts?
