1. Just completed a deal with Vinny. Gave me the bass for a good price and his packaging skills would come in very handy at Christmas time All in all, a great guy to deal with.
2. Got a few things from my BB 1100s that I no longer need. Please be aware that these parts are from a 30 year old bass and show some signs of wear/use. If the prices are well out, let me know by pm as old Yamaha parts are hard to find and price. P and J pickups. Includes the fixing screws. The pickups work fine and the P in particular is a great sounding pickup imo. £48 delivered first class. Original bridge. Comes with the screws that were with it but I don`t think these are the original ones. £28 delivered first class Neckplate and 4 screws. £8 delivered I also have the nut and the bit of plastic that fits in the truss rod rout that someone can have. Whoever buys any of the above and wants the nut and cover, they can have them. Paypal by gift is fine, if you want to collect, I will knock off a few quid.
3. I`m looking for some singing lessons from someone in the Glasgow area. I need someone who is a bona fide teacher who does it for a living and not someone who was almost on the X factor! Before I trawl Google, can anybody recommend someone?
4. There have been a few topics on them. The search button is your friend. Looks nice in white.
5. You said it yourself Artisan and I agree totally. It is a lot of cash for a basic instrument. But if you want a Fender US P bass new, you might have to bite the bullet.
6. Sorry Jack, should have said non powered mixer. I will have a look at the Pre gear you mention.
7.
With pedal preamps there can be a volume issue. The pedals have a rather limited amount of gain they can provide for a few reasons, mainly that they're limited by the 9V power supply but also they're designed to work in front of standard amps rather than power amps. You'll get sound either way, but I've seen the pedal output volume maxed and the gain controls on an amp maxed and still the signal LEDs are just barely being tickled. You really have two options, one is to find an amp with the lowest input sensitivity that you can, ideally around 0.775V. Option 2 is to use another gain stage to boots the pedal before the power amp. If you use the RBI you'll likely have a wider choice of suitable power amps. Oh sorry, I should answer your question. QSC PLX??02, pick the one you feel you need. I have a 1602 that does 300W a side into each of my Barefaceds, and the possibility of 1600W into both if I wanted. They have either a 1.2V or 1.7V input sensitivity I think, depending on the model, so you may find your RBI will sing and your VT Bass a little on the quieter side.
What about going into a pedal (Sansamp, BD 121 etc), taking a line out into the mic premap on a passive mixer, then into a poweramp? Might be a daft question.
8. Due to this topic, I took my Pawn Shop along to a rehearsal last night. Sounded bloomin good to me turned up nice and loud. Might take it to a gig or two.
9. Jeid bought some tuners from me. Good guy to deal with, no probs whatsoever. Jezza
10. I wonder if this is the bass he used in Live at Donington in 91? Be perfect in my band...if I had a spare few thousands!
11. I have a Pawn Shop model which I don`t think you can buy anymore. I don`t really use it to be honest and have almost sold it on several occasions but it`s the wife`s favourite and it`s so damm sexy. It sounds like a hot P bass to me and as I have 3 other basses with versions of the P bass pickup, I usually grab one of them. Use medium scale strings and I have fitted D`addario rounds, 45 - 100 if I remember right. If I was to buy another short scale, I would get a SS Jag with the PJ pickups. They seem to get a good write up and are a good bit cheaper than a Mustang.
12. This is the original pickup from my Sterling Sub MM pickup. It works fine, I replaced the pickup and original pre amp circuit from the bass. No foam on the back of the pickup. Paypal ok but no fees thanks. £12 posted. Now sold.
13. Seymour Duncan SPB-3 quarter pounder. This pickup came from my Nate Mendel P bass. It requires some work to make it function. As you can see from the pics, 2 of the wires have become detached. The covers have been very lightly rubbed down to go with the worn look of the bass and there is a scratch visable close up on one of the corners. There is no mounting foam on the back of the pickups. So to clarify. The pickups do work ok but require some work and are not cosmetically perfect but this is reflected in the low price. Edit: cant find the mounting screws so £25 delivered. Paypal ok but no fees thanks.
