Yamaha BB 1024x. In black.

I have owned Ashdown gear since 2005, various heads and cabs, have kicked their butt in various rock bands and haven`t heard the sound that you are describing. I am no doubting you by the way. Is there a BCer near you who would test your cabs through a different head to see if the head is the problem?

There are so many things wrong with this bass to make it a US Standard. Maybe the guy who is selling it bought it in it`s current guise (or disguise?) but there is no need for you to be taken in as well. If you were buying this s/hand in the UK it would be worth about £140 ish if it is in good condition.

The bridge is all wrong as well. It looks like someone has drilled some holes through a BBOT (bent bit of tin) bridge. Engage reverse gear and run in the direction of away..

I think this is a Squier Vintage Modified Jazz with a fake decal. The pics are very small. The tuners are cheap, US Jazz`s from 2010 have the truss rod adjuster at the body end but it has through body stringing which may have been done by someone after purchase.

In August this year, I was looking to replace the Peavey Mini Max head I had bought. I spotted a TE AH 600 7 band on Thomman for £280 down from £1100 odd!! It seemed like too good a deal to be true so I bought it. It came with a cover and a four way footswitch that was as heavy as the Peavey head it replaced! I don`t know if it was old stock or the last of the line but for the price, it was a no brainer. I have never used TE gear before but I have played a few gigs with it now and the drummer says he can feel the bass as well as hearing it. I`m still not sure of the best way to set it up, pre shape, graphic etc but apart from the weight, it is a great bit of kit. And it looks cool with the green light.

Cool bass but even cooler shoes

In order: 10 watt Epiphone amp bought with 1st bass. 65 watt Ibanez amp. I think it had a 12" speaker but it was useless for the first band I joined, so replaced it with.... Ashdown Mag 300, 15" combo. Used this for ages and eventually removed the head and used it with a variety of cabs. Still have it as a back up. SWR Tower of power head. Bought it as shop soiled for £200 from Guitarguitar. Big and heavy, 700 ish watts if I remember. Used it on a few gigs but moved it on as I was always scared of blowing up my cab. Eden Nemisis 2 x 10 combo. Nice amp but sold on here, cant remember why. Back to the Mag 300.. Tc BG115 250. One of the early ones that went up in smoke. Piece of garbage. Back to the Mag 300.. Behringher BVT 450. Bought after reading Discreets review. Decent amp but large and heavy. Punted it for £50. Still going somewhere I bet. Ashdown ABM 500 Evo 3. The best amp I have owned, one of the last ones. Used with 2 Mi cabs. Sold amp on (foolishly). Peavey Minimax 500. Got this to downsize but it felt cheap and didn`t sound good to me. Sent back to Thomman. Trace Elliott AH600. Bought from Thomman for the silly price of £280. Taking a bit of getting used to but a lovely bit of kit. Was going to pair it with a Markbass 2 x10 but the deal fell through so bought a Ashdown ABM mini 2x10 cab. There we go.

In a previous band, the lead guitarist didn`t have a mobile phone and was murder to get a hold of. I gave him one of my old ones, still a half decent phone and told him to get a PAYG Tesco sim card just so I could contact him. Did he get a sim card? Did he heck! And his wife works in a bloomin Tesco shop!! Just a lazy fecker. Funnily enough, I`m not in a band with him anymore.

A guy I played with did this after every song. He played a Les Paul and I was forever telling him to get it looked at but in 4 years he never did. He did it silently but it ruined the flow of the set sometimes. Done my head in.

Nice. The higher end SR`s are really good basses.

I gig in a rock band playing pubs and clubs and we have our own pa that the singer owns. I wouldn`t be without our own pa as most pubs round here expect you to bring your own. Only the bigger places have a pa and usually have a sound guy. We just put vocals through ours and use Marshall valve amps for the guitarists and Trace Elliott for me. The on stage volume is quite loud and the singer and lead guitarist don`t wear hearing protection and are going deaf but won`t try earplugs, the silly so and so`s.

I`m the same as you Mojo. I can`t seem to settle on one bass. I change them frequently and try and justify it to myself. Recent purchase is a Ibby Sr750. Really nice bass but so are the other 5 I own. The price doesn`t really matter: some are cheap, others not so. I still wonder why I traded a 2009 US P bass, black and maple, as it was a cracker and would have done me for the rest playing days.

When asked recently why he plays his battered 57 P bass, he said "Because it growls!"

Loving the natural one with black hardware.

The box wouldn`t be sent back to Fender or whoever. The amount of money it would cost in transport, manpower etc would not be viable when the box cost pennies to make. Or a fiver according to GAK!! I think some social media slagging off is in order on this occasion unless the money goes to Nordoff Robbins or similar charity.
-
I don`t think they would get a fiver from the recycle company. Most companies are happy enough to get it uplifted for free, saves them having to pay to get it taken away. Rip off
Cheers, perhaps a few emails shall be sent soon then! Any ideas why they are so scarce in the UK?
Not sure but I once had a bass player come up at a gig and ask me what the heck was I playing. A G&L L2000 tribute I replied. Never heard of them he says. And he had been a bass player for years. And here lies the problem. They don`t seem to have a high profile and not many stockist, especially the US models.
