1.
hese unfortionatly in and out of the hospital at the moment so im not able to question him on it. he just handed it over and said try this one. this is a lovely jazz bass.
How much is he looking for it? If you like the bass and it`s a good price, get it.
2. Remove the scratch plate and check the routing around the pickups and it may also have the circular cnc/drugs stash hole. I can`t remember if the US models had these or just the Mexican models? If it`s a Mighty mite neck it`s not a US model. Nothing wrong with MM necks but if the neck isn`t US, I doubt the body will be.
3. Those tuners aren`t fitted to US models and the string tree is a cheapo. Is the seller telling you it`s a US model?. If it is it should have a serial number that you can check.
4. Saturday Bumperoo.
5. I`ve gotta say that the 3 shops I use in Glasgow - Guitarguitar, Merchant city and Strung out, have all been good for me. Some have better prices on strings, effects pedals etc but I try and use them rather than internet shopping. Strung out is a fantastic repair shop with really helpful staff. Overall

7.
Lol, thanks jezza. Already seen this vid. Wanted to hear what our fellow basschatters had to say though
It is a lovely looking bass. So nice in fact that I bought a SR 750, a few steps down from the one you are looking at. Cracking bass with licensed Norstrand P and J pickups with a Ibby 3 band eq with a passive option. I had it about a week and was looking at it one night, when I noticed that a 5 string pickup had been fitted in the bridge! But hats off to Guitarguitar. I dropped it off on Tuesday and the replacement is sitting in the Glasgow shop, ready for collection tomorrow. Happy days

10.
When The Beatles first recorded at Abbey Road, They were not taken that seriously. They where looked down upon by the older generation as disposable kiddies music. As a result the staff didnt try too hard on recording them as they did their seasoned acts on their EMI roster. It wasnt until they became EMI's golden goose that they where taken seriously.
I am reading a book by session player Martin Kershaw and he states that at the time, Abbey road was just another studio and not the hallowed ground that it is now considered to be. Me, I love the Beatles especially the first 3 or 4 albums. Poptastic!!
11. The track I heard on radio 2 from Shea was full of teenage girls screaming. Giles Martin said they left the screaming in but after about 30 seconds, it did my head right in. What I could hear of the music sounded quite good considering they couldn`t hear one another. I can`t wait till October when the real Beatles movie - Supersonic, comes out
12.
That's a point.......... perhaps some T Rex?
Well Steve Currie played a P bass, a slab if I remember and Herbie Flowers plays a Jazz. 2000 posts!
13. Last year I went to see a band that I was in at one time and the singer guitarist had his face in his A4 folder through the entire gig. And there was zero interaction with the punters. It looked very unprofessional. That was maybe an extreme example but I see nothing wrong with having an ipad on a bracket, attached to the mike stand. If you ever see a Stereophonics gig, Kelly Jones has some monitors in front of him. One of these is a tv with the words scrolling down. I wouldn`t mind but he wrote the blooming words!!
14. Just bought a SR - Whoopeee!! But the stock strings? - Booo!! So if you want the strings (I think they are Elixars?) drop me a pm and I will stick them in the post to you.
15. The HB PB50 is still surprising me. It`s a right good bit of kit. If I didn`t have a £700+ Nate Mendel P bass sitting here, I would gig it more. And at around £90 delivered, it`s a steal. And if you don`t like it, send it back and Thomman give you back your cash
16. I always have a spare bass and a BD121. I don`t get the "its only a pub gig" mentality. To me, all gigs are as important as each other. The spare at the moment is a Harley Benton PB50 so no big worries if it goes walkies or gets damaged. Having said that, I have never had a bass or amp fail on me. It pays to look after the kit.
17. There is pages on Talkbass about the hot pre amp. There is/was a guy from the company on there and he showed a way how to change the wiring to sort out the issue. I don`t think you can simply adjust something in the pre amp to easily rectify it. Crazily enough, the company knows about the issue but says it wouldn`t be cost effective for them to solve it, which I find bizarre
18. I had one of the Peavey Minimax`s. It has plenty of power on tap and is small and easy to carry. But to me the chickenhead knobs and the push buttons below the knobs, are very cheaply made and when I pressed in the buttons, a popping noise could be heard through the speaker which did not fill me with confidence. Overall I don`t think the build quality was worth the price I paid for it, so it went back and a Trace Elliot now resides in the amp space. Not much difference This is only my opinion of the Peavey and I know that there are a few fans on here.
19. Twice divorced at 42?? You have been a busy boy Bought the Kindle book.
20.
I have the Indonesian SUB. A beautiful well made black and maple jobby. The pre amp is very hot and sends my Markbass into a digital distorted frenzy. I,m gonna get round to rectifying that.
Here is my solution to the pre amp issue. Rip it out and replace it with a passive circuit. A bit extreme but it works. Wilkinson pickup, volume, tone and a series/parallel switch.
21. I play in an acdc covers band playing music I love. We do about 1 gig a month for about £50 each a gig. I could go back to playing your set list no problem if I could get 1 or 2 gigs a week earning decent cash. The list isn`t too bad, I have played much worse songs than that And it gives you the chance to play with different people and you never know where that might lead. But where is the Slosh and Mustang Sally????
22.
The OP has put S.U.B so it will be the new entry level one, I'd never buy a new 34 over a used USA Ray myself.
I agree with that. I have owned all 3 below. A MM Stingray, 3 band eq with matching headstock, cracking bass but a bit heavy, bought s/h on here for £700. Good price. Sterling Ray 34, 2 band eq, Jazz neck, bought new for £650. Cracking bass but not worth the money new. Better to spend the extra on a s/h MM. Sterling Sub, 2 band eq, jazz style neck, black n maple, bought new for £309. This is the only one of the 3 I have left. I have spent approx £130 (pickup, wiring, tuners, labour costs) on upgrades due to the well known pre amp issue and wanting it to look cool. It is a decent bass without the upgrades but I bought it to modify. I would either get a MM Stingray s/h or the cheap Sterling Sub. The Sterling is too much money for what it is.
23. But what SUB are you thinking of? The MM Sub, around £400 ish used or the Sterling by MM Sub at £309 new?
