1.
Are these effects boxes simple to use ? I look at some of em and I wouldn't have a clue what buttons to press
The B1 comes with loads of built in sounds already. If you don`t fancy making your own up, you can use them. It has a tuner and drum machine as well. In its simplest form, there is just an up and down pedal to move between effect. A great piece of kit.
2. Leave? You guys get leave??? What kind of strange evil doing is this??
3. I play in an acdc tribute band and believe me, the hardest part is playing the lines the way Cliff plays them. Adding in additional fills, runs etc just doesn`t suit the songs. I imagine it would be the same in a U 2 tribute. Both guys are great players imho.
4. I had a Joodee. I bought it from e bay around 9 years ago for £117. It was quite heavy and I painted it black, badly!! I ended giving it away. Here is a couple of pics. This was pics from the seller and aint my carpet!!
5. Well, I play with my thumb resting on the pickup, fingerstyle. On the T bird, I rest it on the neck pickup but the problem is there is no body for my hand where it joins my wrist, to rest against and it is uncomfortable for me to play. Nowt to do with neck dive.
6. The coolest bass is a Thunderbird. But they are, for me, the most uncomfortable basses ever made so I don`t play one.
7. As the original post has "vanished", let me make an basschat guess at some answers to the post. Flats are better than rounds. A ESP is the best bass for metal. Leo got it right with the P bass. If it had 5 strings I would be all over it. Any more?
8.
I got my B1.on (brand new) for £41 inc p&p from a seller on Amazon. It's perfect for home practice. Headphones in, iPod or other music source and bass...sorted
Got to agree with this. A great bit of kit for home practice.
9. 4 string bass for me and I only use 3 but could get away with 2....
10. I did think of vanishing a while back but then I discovered the ignore button and binned one guy who said every bass he bought was the best thing ever, then 2 days later put it up for sale. The other only pops up every so often, stirs it up and buggers off again! Basschat nirvana has been re-established. What are you gonna do for bass related chat anyway? Go on Talkbass and read endless topics like "can I put this fake Fender decal on this Squier?"
11. I had a 304. Build quality was really good, decent range of tones via the 5 way switch but I fell out of love with active basses and moved it on dropping £90 in the process but it is a good buy for the price. I agree with Machines re resale. If you are buying one as a keeper it is worth it.
12. Take it down to your local amp guy if you have one that is! I imagine that is what Ashdown will say. Or else buy a Toneman 300 from Thomman for £207. http://www.thomann.de/gb/ashdown_toneman_300_evo_iii.htm
13. You could get the MI12 cab which is in stock at Dawsons. It is £250 but it says it is the 8ohms version. They are good little cabs. I use 2 of them for gigging. http://www.dawsons.co.uk/ashdown-mi-12-bass-cab?gclid=CKzgkoTSrMoCFQueGwodDlUD2g
14. Re payment for gear. I read an interview with Mark at Ashdown and he said that u2, Foo fighters etc, pay for their gear. Did they pay the full price, does Guy Pratt pay full whack for his gear when he pops up in their adverts? When I bought a MAG 300 combo in 2005, I got it because it was a good price and had a decent amount of power. 10 years later, i`m still using Ashdown gear. Gotta be worth an endorsment by now
15. I know that when PRS made the Bernie Marsden SE sig (he used to play in Whitesnake among other things ), initially it was to be a UK only product but it turns out to be one of the best selling PRS models ever. Next step is a US model sig. He admits that it`s more to do with the fact that it is just a great guitar rather than his name. He does play one when gigging, doing clinics etc. I own a Nate Mendel P bass because it is a great P bass with a nice spec, nothing to do with the player. I would imagine that Fender sells quite a few of these and Geddys Jazz model.
16. I have 3. Nate Mendel P bass for the ACDC tribute band, BB1100s that is a bit fragile usually comes as a back up and a Pawn shop Mustang that rarely gets gigged. The thing is, the BB sounds the best and is the handiest especially on the rare occasion I`m not using my own amp due to the active/passive/pj options but the Nate P is damm cool and the neck is perfect for me. Oh first world problems!
17. Try telling a lead guitarist with an SG, a Marshall valve amp and a boost pedal to play at a "sensible" level
18. Was never a 2 tone fan until I watched them on Jools when they got back together. An excellent drummer and looked cool as f**k behind the black and white drum kit. https://youtu.be/KaV9GYPSM94
19. I have changed string gauges on my Pawn Shop Mustang a few times and havent had to alter the truss rod yet. I have had rounds, flats, half rounds and am now back to using Ddarrio rounds again. If you have to tweak the truss rod, honestly, its no big hassle if you check out the Fender site or you tube clips.
20. Cool idea and very simple. (Runs down to the patent office to register the "Bass slidomatic storage system" and retire to Barbados on the proceeds!)
21. The one that made me chuckle was when Beedster was selling a horse. Its true I tell ya!!
22. The B1 on is a cracking bit of kit for practice. Some nice tones going on. Gonna use it in front of my amp on the next gig to see how it sounds live.
23. I seem to remember that Lemmy was asked to give him some bass lessons but Sid was useless.
24. Yamaha BB all day.
25. Buy a new one as mine went pop and was out of warranty. I would assume they have solved whatever problem they had by now. The combo is rated at 250 watts into the fitted 4 ohm speaker. Mine was loud enough for pub gigs and I was quite happy with it until it went up in smoke.
