1. The B1 on is a cracking bit of kit for practice. Some nice tones going on. Gonna use it in front of my amp on the next gig to see how it sounds live.
2. I seem to remember that Lemmy was asked to give him some bass lessons but Sid was useless.
3. Yamaha BB all day.
4. Buy a new one as mine went pop and was out of warranty. I would assume they have solved whatever problem they had by now. The combo is rated at 250 watts into the fitted 4 ohm speaker. Mine was loud enough for pub gigs and I was quite happy with it until it went up in smoke.
5. Could be expensive if he loses but he might win. In the end, the only people who will do well from this is the lawyers.
6. Sorry to say as a Rush fan of 30 years but after buying the Time machine dvd, I decided that Geds voice was shot and I was done. Which saddens me as they meant a lot to me as they have to many people on here. The clips posted above are a bit of a shadow of their former selves. Still, we still have the albums to fall back on.
7. And in later years, Guy Pratt and Jerry Meehan. I think they only did the live gigs. On the Roxy music story dvd extras, Guy has a run through the bass players. That was before being fired by Ferry for an on stage bass smashing episode if I recall.
8. I have a 2005 MAG 300 head, that was originally part of a 1x15 combo and that is UK made. Im a bit dissapointed that they only make a few heads in the UK now. Having said that, I would buy some of their Chinese stuff.
9. I seem to remember Eddie saying that he had a stroke so possibly its to do with that. Sad loss to the world of music. If you watch the Classic Albums- Ace of spades dvd, not only was he a great drummer but a funny guy as well.
10. If Cozy aint in it (and even with Ritches black magic, he still wont be) then to me it aint Rainbow. Just watch the live in Germany dvd. The guy was a perfect foil for Blackmores playing.
11. Look, the guy has spent all his cash on his drum kit and he is gonna use every bit of it all the time Can`t stand a busy drummer.
12. The Dirnt I had was bloomin heavy, `14lb if I remember. I also had the Squire version at one time and it was a good bit lighter. The tuners look ok, 70`s style but I seem to recall that the neck was quite square at the body end unlike a normal P bass. That is some "hairline" crack!!
13. Ta for the info Mr Toe. The magnets are very strong. I have fitted the pickup but can only play through headphones in the house so don`t know how it sounds.
14. I bought a set of these P bass pickups. What is the script with the bar magnets? Never seen them on the outside of a pickup before. And the covers don`t fit in a Fender size pickup hole as the lugs are larger. No bigee but they will need some alteration to the pickgaurd.
15. I play in a tribute band so there is no moaning regarding the music we play and that can be a major reason for bust ups as I have found in the past. We have been together since March and seem to get along ok but none of us are friends outside the band which helps. And we all love the music, especially the drummer as he lives miles away but is happy to travel to play with us.
16. Leo said that they were the best guitars he ever made and he should know.
17. She might have the chops but that sort of playing does my head in.
18.
I think the B1on is hugely underrated. I must post a review of it at some point.
I wish you would as I bought one after reading your posts I use it as a headphone amp for silent practice just now but might stick it in front of the Mag300 and would like some pointers. And I am also umming and ahing about buying a BVT...
19. This is a good grooved bridge. I got one for my Jazz recently. http://www.wdmusic.co.uk/hardware-parts-c1/bridges-tailpieces-c2/bass-c96/bass-bridge-knurled-barrel-saddle-chrome-p4939
20.
Yep, I try to avoid the G as much as possible, and also try to play anything D upwards on the A, as it has more "beef" to it/
I agree with this. I play in an AC/DC covers band with 2 guitarists, sporting valve Marshall amps and trying to do anything subtle on the G string is a waste of time. Or Tim
21.
Nice. Looking forward to the video.
+ 1
22. The NM has a different shaped neck from a standard P bass, I think its a "slim C" shape? A much better fit for me.
23. Cool bass. Nearly bought one but I liked the neck on the Nate Mendel better. The paint job on the body looks really good in the flesh.
24. At last! Someone who is worse than me at playing the bass. That was cringeworthy.
25. Bloomin bargain!!
