1.
Oh yes one massive knob controls the whole operation I'm afraid
I think that just about sums up most of us on here....
2. I can`t see any shop meeting that price. I think they are £575 in GG?
3. Used a Ashdown Mag since 2005 and gigged it about 20 times a year, no problems. Bought a TC BG 250, done about 12 gigs with it, it went pop. Back to the Mag. Agree with you Truckstop, sometimes solid is better.
4. Isn`t the 11th Commandment "Though shall not slap on a Rush song so as not to upset our God and Master Geddy?"
5. Last week, I ordered their cheap P bass copy as a gig back up for my main squeeze. Total cost £65 to my door. I changed the tuners and bridge to some Wilkinson gear I had kicking around, put on a set of Picato flats and its okay. The rosewood board did look a bit dry, so gave it a good going over with some lemon oil. The frets have no sharp edges, bass is nice and light and sounds pretty decent through my amp at home noise levels. I removed the transfer as I was looking to put on a Funder transfer, which I may do in the future but for now it`s a Spiderman bass!
6.
Wow, please let us know your thoughts when it arrives! Very interested to hear what it's like in passive mode. Truckstop
This is the way I used mine as the active boost, is hot, hot, hot! That price is a steal. I paid around £575 for my last one. The only reason I got rid of it was the chuncky neck.
7. Yep, old Betsy was sounding rather nice. And that is a decent drummer as well. The band looked as if they were really enjoying themselves but regarding Ferry`s vocals, did you notice that the backing singers were doubling every word that he sang? Just his style or is his voice shot?
8. I just stuck a set of Nickel wound Daddario EXL160M on my Pawn shop Mustang. They are medium scale, 50.70,85, 105. I haven`t had the chance to play it loud through an amp yet but they seem ok. Got them from Strings direct for £19.

Just completed a deal with Dave and can only echo the comments above. A pleasure doing business with him and would not hesitate to do so again. Gerry
10.
DPD have a system in place that gives you an hour's warning ahead of their delivery via SMS. I'd be asking questions about why that wasn't in effect.
Spot on Kiwi. I got a pair of work boots delivered by DPD, got a text saying delivery would be between 1 and 2 pm and the guy appeared at 1 05.
11. Another deal with Gary and as usual, a pleasure doing business with him.
12. In my quest to get some space back in my home, I offer this thing to the market place. Yamaha RBX 374 bass guitar, spares ,repair or project. I bought this a while ago and the active circut and volume controls were shot. The passive pickups are wired to the jack plug and work fine. The volume and tone controls on the bass are not connected to the pickups and are there for looks only. I fancied a fretless bass so I removed the frets from this bass. It is not a perfect job but has not damaged the rosewood board and could be easily re fretted if you have the skill. There is some paint chips on the body and at the top of the headstock. There are some stickers on the back, one of which covers the hole where the battery box was for the active circut. If you like Motorhead, then you are sussed! The neck is nice and straight and the bass plays okay and has a nice set of Fender flatwound strings fitted which cost £20. The bass plays fine as it is if you are looking for a bit a of fretless blast. The issues mentioned is reflected in the price and if you are handy at these things, for around £30 in parts you would have a nice playing bass. You can try the bass through my amp at my home in Paisley. I would prefer collection or localish meet up but may be able to post if I don`t get anyone local. I would be removing the neck for shipping. I would need a few days to source some materials and would be looking around £15 to post, if it`s less, I will refund you. ***Please note, this is sold as a project/repair.***
13.
korg pitchblack, superb piece of kit.
What he said. Cheaper than most rivals and comes in some nice colours too.
14. Here is a Squier Jazz body I got on here last year. The body has been "de glossed" it ain`t shiny no more, has a good few scratches and dings, could really do with a re finish. Fender would call it roadworn! Under the neck plate, there is 2 other holes that I drilled to fit another neck as an experiment, they cannot be seen once the plate is attached. It fits a standard Fender size neck. It has a set of Duncan designed pickups on it and is wired up to the pots but although they work, the electrics would need work. I was going to bin the pickups but will leave them on and you can decide what to do with them, they are thrown in and are not to be considered to be in working order. It will come with a neck plate, BBOT bridge and a set of 5 Wilkinson tuners with bushes but no screws. £45 collected and another £10 if you want it posted. Paypal gift is ok. 15. I liked the song they did at the end of fridays show, California, nice guitar work from The Edge. I didn`t like the acoustic song though. The problem for me on most of their later albums is they seem to have one or two killer tracks, surrounded by guff.
16. Wooks, ta for the offer but I will have to give this some more thought. It doesn`t seem as easy as I thought it might be without spending a good few quid. Ray, my mate has a whammy pedal that I might try out. Cheers for the suggestion.
17. Hey Dad. That Wall of Sound nearly bankrupted the Dead and they had to go on hiatus for a year. So, mabye not the best business model for Fender to go for But always good to see a mention for the Wall.
18. Ta for the replies guys. I may have to tune down for more than one song and the singer isn`t sure if they will be next to each other in the set. The Mooer Pitchbox looks to be the perfect thing Wooks and at a decent price. Unlike the Eventide!!
19. I dep for a band just now where everything is played a half step down - E is E flat, A is G sharp and so on. I have something on the go where I might have to play one song in standard tuning and the next a half step down, then back to standard. I could use 2 basses but that is a pain in the behind. Could I use a pitch shifter pedal that I could kick in to detune the sound half a step, then kick it out to go back to standard tuning? Is this what this pedal does? It may seem like a dumb question but pedals are not my strong point.
20. Yeah Lozz, great basses. I have owned most things - Stingrays, Status, P basses....and I really prefer this. Not too heavy, good range of sounds in active or passive, and the neck is perfect for me. All I have done is stick on a set of Chrome flats, Schaller strap locks and have gigged nothing else since.
21. The morning after my BG250 went up in a puff of smoke, I got a Ashdown Mag 300, 2x10 on gumtree for £100. Not the lightest of combos and slightly tatty but does the job. Unless you have pa support or quiet band mates, I can`t see a 80watt amp doing the biz. But you know the type of gigs you do better than me. Why not stick a wanted advert on your local Gumtree and see what pops up?
22. I recently got a BB1100s and I think it a cracking bass. Active/passive, P and J set up.
23. Withdrawn for now. Might just keep it. Up for sale, straight trade or trade plus cash my way. Fender Mustang, MIM, Short scale, 38mm nut, bought by me new in 2013. The bass is in excellent condition with no dents, dings or scratches that I can see. It has been gigged but looked after. It weighs in at 9-9.5 pounds or 4kg. The bass is fitted with D`darrio half rounds and I will include the original Fender strings. It does not come with a case or bag but if posting, it will be sent in a full size hard case which is meant for protection only. The pickup wiring has been modified as described below by my guitar chap as the pickup is hot. It can be easily modified back to stock if required. I have nicked the text below from Telebass`s description as this is where the mod came from, so I hope you don`t mind TB. "To get the bite, you do a simple electrical mod. The TEB101 humbucker is a 4-wire jobbie. Under the plate is a taped pair, red and white. Solder red to ground and the white to the green wire on the volume pot. This puts the pickup into parallel mode, halving the impedance from 22k (HOT!) to around 11k, not too far off a standard P-bass pickup". The only issue is with the position of the bridge. It has been factory fitted about 1mm out of line with the string through holes. It does not effect the string alignment on the neck or the sound of the bass and is only noticeable very close up. Most of the early ones I have seen, have this issue and I have only mentioned it as I like to be as honest as possible. There is a photo showing this. The ones that have sold on here previously seem to go for around £500. I am looking for £460 posted to you, UK mainland only. I will knock something off the price for collection of course. Trade wise, I will do a straight swap for a P or Jazz Classic Series A GL tribute or US MM sub plus some cash my way A Squier CV or similar plus cash my way Or something else 4 string and fretted. The only thing I`m not interested trade wise is a Ibby SR or a Thunderbird and I don`t want to trade up the way. If we can do the deal face to face, all the better and I don`t mind travelling within reason. I am located in Paisley just outside of Glasgow.
24. The last gig I played, the bass amp was around 6 inches behind my legs, just in front of the bench seats. So in the fine old tradition... "Sweet spot, my a#se!"
