NBD. Nice little early Xmas present to myself.

Nice! Treated myself to the fiesta red classic vibe precision a while ago - fantastic sound and feel 😀 -
Might be worth googling "Coverband bingo" as well, just in case you need to avoid the well worn covers.......😐😉

thanks Hiram - Gave up with the predictive text - you should have seen what it tried to put........😂😂😂

Agree, they need to be amplified the same way as a 'normal' acoustic bass, but they add a completely different tone to the proceedings! I use a little orange 30w practice amp, which is plenty to give me equal footing with the six stringers 😀. I can't go back to full size acoustic basses now, plus it means that I have more room for my pint and scratchings.........

I tried various acoustic basses in live situations ,with varying degrees of success. Mostly either low volume or constant feedback problems ensued, along with the fact that being only 5'6" tall, the things were nearly as big as me when cased up and took up loads of room. I eventually got rid of my Takamine electro acoustic and bought A kala Rumbler UBass. Great sound, easy to transport, and draws interest from people wherever we play. No feedback issues either! Reckon they're about £250 now, and apart from having to get used to the short scale (which doesnt take too long) theyre great for sitting at the back and sitting in on open mic sessions too 😀

Great gear you've moved on and wished you hadn't?

Have got the Terror 500 and matching 2x10 and 2x12 cabs. What an awesome sound, and not a back breaker to get in and out the car either! Wouldn't part with it for the world now. On the other hand, wish I'd never got rid of my westone thunder III back in the mid '90s though.........😢😢 -
Buying a round wouldn't go amiss either. I've also only ever played with a couple of drummers who've come anywhere near to meeting the brief! Must be the way they have to train their brains to do four different things at once ...........
-
I've played with less competent drummers who have been a far better band member, simply because of their attitude and contribution to all aspects of being in a band. Current drummer is far better technically, but a right royal pain in the backside in all other aspects. At the end of the day, it's about enjoying the whole experience rather than constantly grinding your teeth and bashing your Head against a wall (at the correct tempo).

One that helps to carry the majority of his OWN gear in and out of the van would be a good place to start. One that finishes a song at The same tempo as it started? One that doesn't ALWAYS need a p*ss halfway through the second set..... ????

What are you listening to right now?

Currently listening to the new Dead South disc. Check out the video for the track called In Hell I'll Be In Good Company - bass player playing a cello like a normal bass. Very cool....... -

Jacobs, or Carrs? -
I did a similar thing recently with a white Matt Freeman Squier Precision f ebay. It's a stunning bass, completely unmarked and fortunately came with a hard case. It's been gigged several times now, sometimes with my ricky 4003 on the reserves bench! Well done on a great purchase, hope u enjoy it as much as I do mine?

Ever tried a ukulele bass? I got to the same state as you a couple of years ago, then bought a kala ubass for an acoustic duo i'm involved in and bingo!!! Got three now, and always get the centre of attention when we play? (much to the frustration of the singer/guitarist!). Now having a go at making my own solid body ubass, so the world of components, tools and late nights in the shed with Planet Rock on the radio are now my addiction?? -
Hey Mike, Welcome! You're quite the modest bloke, yes? Not starting your own thread 'n' all? Anyway, enjoy BC as I presume you enjoy your (awesome) gear. best, bert
Oops sorry - have I overstepped protocol here? I'll kick back a bit until the newbie tag disappears.
If my band want a performing monkey they can go out and hire one. As far as I am concerned I've been employed to stand at the back and make the singer look a bit better than he actually is and I think I'm making a decent fist of it under the circumstances. Just look out for my 'I think I've been sacked' thread coming soon...
With you on that one fella......I laughed so hard reading your post that I nearly choked on my fish finger sandwich (not a euphemism, by the way)

First Shuker Bass Ordered !!! PICS ADDED !!!!!!

I just love his basses! I got a 5 string through neck elite from him first in early 2001, then went for a 6 string Jazz and a 4 string Jazz over the next few years after that! They're just unbelievable, and anyone who's not sure about taking the plunge, just needs to look at the gallery on his website - sheer genius and 100% porn combined!!!!! -
Having rediscovered the joys of my Status Energy 5 string headless from 1991, I now want a secondhand series 2 headless 4 string to use with my main band. Can I find one anywhere? Rare as hens teeth they are.........

Good gig last night - played for a local motorbike club outside in an open - fronted marquee, with burger stall, bar and bonfire going in front of us. Weatherman got it wrong - weather was perfect! We also managed to play a new song without trainwrecking it, and even got dancers up! Had to stay sober as was driving home afterwards, but the rest of the band stayed over to help empty the bar, and I've not heard from them today.......
