  1. Latest update on pubs and restaurants guidance still states that live music in front of live audiences should not be permitted........
  2. But would you pay to watch yourself?😂😐
  3. The guidance for pubs and restaurants etc has been updated again yesterday as well, but the section on live music (section 4.5) remains unchanged, stating that live performances in front of live audiences should not be permitted. This suggests that it's only the formal 'professional ' performances that are correctly controlled can go ahead. makes sense, as I think that pub staff still have enough do deal with without the added problems of a live band in the beer garden.......
  4. What happened to the 70's precision? Iconic bass!😎
  5. Or a wombles tribute band.
  6. Reminds me of when I went to see Jeff Healey play at the Rescue Rooms in Nottingham many years ago now. During soundcheck, a young woman in the crew tested the mics for feedback by putting her mouth right over the basket on each one in turn..........don't know why that has stayed with me..........
  7. Why wait that long? Surely the beaches are enough of a gauge of what's likely to happen..........😠😠
  8. I bought one just before lockdown - managed to gig with it as well. It's a brilliant little gadget, well worth the money 😜👍
  9. I interpret the document as stating what is not to be done currently, in order to prevent over exciting the horses. The second document does mention that further guidance for live performance situations will be forthcoming, further suggesting that it's currently not permissable.......
  10. Budgie - Bandolier..........😃👍
  11. Being in a British punk covers band (and in my mid 50's), I was starting to get hand and arm cramps during gigs as I play finger style. the revelation came last year when I put a compressor into my board, which meant i didn't need to play so hard to get the same volume/tone (not much dynamics needed in my playing). Hey presto, I can play faster lines a lot better now, without the aching arm and hand.....works for me!
  12. I'm just going to 're check that I've taken them all out now..............😂👍
  13. The brilliant Tony Levin.......Gabriel's let himself go a bit though........
  14. Have been getting into Massive Wagons, courtesy of Planet Rock, and been listening to the tracks from the new Deep Purple CD due out soon. Throw My Bones current favourite.......
  15. Managed to gig with the new YYZ pedal just before lockdown hit - it got some very favourable comments at half time.........
  16. Just pulled the trigger and ordered an Alden ES Les Paul style bass from Freestyle music. Always wanted the Gibson version, but prohibitively expensive and a bit too precious to gig with. Will let you know how it measures up when it arrives ...........
  17. Great job! Have done a couple myself, and they're trickier than they look to get right.........😀👍
  18. Yep - using the angle cut jig to keep everything nice and steady - as it was a uke bass, the cut depth was about 60mm (2 1/2"?) I normally use baking parchment for the non-stick aspect, but had run out after a sudden need for fruit cake the previous week.........😜
  19. Neck scarf joints cut, and another jig made to hold the joint securely while being glued.......
  20. Been a while - these are the neck and body blanks being glued up. Using Tite Bond rather than normal PVA here. Also, the neck blank is due to be split down the middle, to allow me to make 2 necks side by side (just in case the first one goes a bit awry.........) Time to get on with the next set of jigs for gluing the scarf joint and putting the radius onto the fingerboard.
  21. Cheers - I'll try and follow up tomorrow!😉
  22. I've had it since 2013, bought from Bass Gear in Wokingham. It's got a great tone and bottom end, so whoever put it together did a cracking job!
  23. Just throwing it out there, to see if I can find out something more about it. 😐
  24. I'm trying to find out more information about a second-hand bass I bought around 2013. Attached couple of pictures of my relic 58 precision, which I bought from Bass Gear, which were taken from the website prior to buying. I seem to remember that part of the description mentioned that it was built from all genuine fender parts, and used by a 'named' player to replace their original 58 precision(s) from going out on the road. I've always wondered about its precise (no pun intended) origins, especially as its got the most amazing precision tone and sound I've ever got from precisions! Its lately been getting more attention regarding its sound, and back-story from other players, so I'm wondering if anyone can shed more light as to its pedigree?
