1. bought the Origin Cali76 compressor from Marc. He was quick, precise and negotiable in communications, and VERY fast in dispatch.
2. bought an MXR octaver from Matt, great communications and lightning fast despatch, much recommended to deal with!
3. I'll use this thread with a somewhat similar question. What would be a possible market value of a '83 or '84 japanese Squier Jazz, this time SQ series? My friend has got a rather nice cream white one and thinks about selling it (which I advise him not to, as it's probably worth more as an instrument than in terms of market value). I'm sure they don't go anywhere near JV type of prices. Any idea how much less could it be though?
4. I bought an MXR BlowTorch pedal from Dan, he was a top gentleman in our communications and very keen and accommodating with the postage, so that the delivery date could match my travel plans. Much recommended.
5. The BlowTorch is taken though, I'm literally making the payment right now!
6. the model range might not be too wide, but I strongly recommend checking out Anaconda Basses.
7. bought the Marcus Jazz from David! Very good, concise comms, quick with extra pics and stuff, and extremely fast, well packed shipping. Thanks!
8. hi, do the prices include postage?
9.
Great value basses I am sure though, but when you can pickup a used USA fender for less then the Fender is going to win.
yeah, you can put any new bass against a second-hand one and say it's not as good a value. Comparing new vs new or used vs used would be a bit more fair.
10. wow. Just when I though that I know which bass I want to buy... Paid a cheque with tax return in today, there will be some bass shopping when it clears! Following this thread, may do something unexpected (I was after a Jazz) in a few days if this baby is still here
11. yeah, I also was seriously eyeing it up, but as there's two more basses here that I really want (and only can afford one now), this one being sold only made my life and decisions easier
12. I've read somewhere that the first run of RWs in 2008 didn't have that hole, yours might be from that era, maldy. Officially, it's some sort of a guide for cnc machines. But really, it's there to stash things while going through customs at an airport.
13. yes, they only did that for 414, 415, 614 and 615, not for the newer lines. Well, more expensive ones like BB3000 had matching headstocks too. You shouldn't have a problem finding a 414 for little money. I find necks on them more comfortable (slightly slimmer, fretboard edges more rolled) than on 424, if less stiff.
14. Cool! No ugly swimming pool around the pickup I see more people wanting this bass and to be honest I still haven't decided between this and one of the marcuses here, but I may give you a shout in a few days when my tax return cheque clears if you still have it, that is!
15. Exactly! I shortlisted this one, a Marcus and a Mendel, will buy one of them sometime next week.
16. It wouldn't really be a deal breaker, unlike a big route around the neck pickup. That round cnc hole could easily be covered by a Hello Kitty sticker or something
17. Hey, just wanted to express some interest - I'll be buying a fender sometime next week and I shortlisted yours along with a RW and a Mendel.
18. I was just curious, as apparently early runs didn't have that cnc hole, and I do prefer my jazzes guardless, for sonic and aesthetic reasons.
19. Extremely interested! What's under the pickguard?
20. not sure what the "grind off and revise of body" entail, but the prices of trussrod replacing, strings, setup etc are not excessive. Try to get a quote from, say, Fender's CS for those same services
21. can one order it with the decal already in place?
22. "The Pork Loin incorporates two distinct tonal pathways that are blended together - a modern soft clipping overdrive and a modified British preamp for clean" quoted from the Dunlop catalogue.
23. I believe that the MXR Bass Overdrive is a repacked Way Huge Pork Loin (having tested them next to each other), with maybe some subtle tweaks. The "clean" is not a blend of the direct uneffected signal, it's a clean channel emulation, as in guitar amps. So yeah, it does have an eq preset, and it does have a bit of hair too. I had high hopes, but so far, the BlowTorch remains my favourite MXR drive pedal. Those Darkglasses do look interesting though.
