7. Hey guys... after a sabbatical since the now ex hubby and I split up I'm back. *Waves* Hope everyone is well.. did I miss much? I'm good, slowly settling into single life.. still playing bass although currently mourning for my 5 string after the strap gave way and it hit the deck, bouncing off the jack... Taking it to a luthier friend of mine sunday.. pray for me... Band's going good. Got 2 new songs and a gig on the 14th December which we're really looking forward to. Ex hubby is still the drummer.. so was a bit weird at first but it's getting easier... Anyway, yea... I'll stop rambling. Hello anyway!
8. Good bits. I'm a woman Bad bits. I'm a woman.
9. I've got a Dean Metalman Z explorer which was £275. Most expensive bass I've ever owned.
10. I'm shocked.... sending my love and condolances to his family. x
11. I'm in ThisIsNotAnExit 4 piece hard rock band with a dash of metal thrown in. www.myspace.com/thisisnotanexituk No tracks up yet but hopefully will be soon.
12.
I see Posh Spice was in getting her septum done at the same time then.
LOL could you imagine how many tweens would get it done if she did?
13. New pic.. just so I can show off my new piercing and sunglasses mafia pose... lol (Me on right)
14.
Yeah, but you did what all women in hard rock/metal bands seem to do and play bass! So far no gimmicks for me, but there's still plenty of time!
only becasue I can't play anything else. lol
15. Depends what you want to play really.. anything can be transposed onto a 5. Although anything metally works well. My personal faves include avenged sevenfold (Drop c# usually) and Alter bridge.
16. Being the only woman in a hard rock/metal band is a pretty good gimmick.
17. It's not about it being boring.. it's about learning everything about the instrument you love.. and furthing you musical knowledge and ability to improvise.. and KNOW what you're playing rather than just playing what sounds good. I've just learnt this after playing for 6 years without a dot of theory.
18. Oh wait... I found the sound files in audacity.... ... 458 files.... including the original track.... originally 8 minutes long... which is now in hundreds of 6 second clips.... ... I think I need a drink...
19. This evening I sat down to work out and record a new complex bass part for Avenged sevenfold's A little piece of heaven. It's 8 minutes long... full of trumpets, clarinets, brass sections.. etc.. so I thought it would be a challenge to encompass all of these parts into one bassline. A challenge.. but I set about it... recording all of the parts in Audacity. 3 hours after I first sat down.. I was about 95% finished. then... the program crashed.... Not a problem normally... but what didn't I do? ..... I didn't F*CKING SAVE IT! .... I don't know whether to laugh or cry.
20.
Your amp should be good enough to gig with for now; until you start playing on massive stages (when you'll need a stack of at least 4 cabs) I'd say wait till you've got a few more shows under your belt to see what you really want from an amp to get one that will suit your live playing style. I find I have to EQ my amp very differently for each room (which is usually nothing close to rehearsal settings). Did you take any of your other basses for the gig, or did you stick with the with the Megaman Explorer?
Megaman? lol! Nah I had my Dean and my Shine 5 string.
21. I'm SOOOOOOOOOOO getting a new amp if we're headlining... (Any excuse)
