1. Oh and in other news... had a message from the venue last night wanting to rebook and offering us headline...
 2.
Judging from these photos, if you tilt the Laney amp back onto its wedge so that it acts as a monitor, you should be able to hear yourself better - the way it is setup at the moment most of the sound will not be reaching your ears. Relying on the PA monitors to hear yourself can often be problematic, as you appear to have discovered... Jennifer
You know... why the hell didn't I think of that??? :lol
 3. My one bug bear is 'vintage' basses. Like when people say, I've got a 1965 Fender Strat in sunburst yadda yadda yadda.... This is the music industry.. not bargain hunt!
 4.
Yeah it's on the body, which is worse
lol how is that worse.... it's style and design I tell you...
 5.
Headstock snobbery, i.e those who wont touch a bass if it has a cheap name on the headstock. Pointy Basses, just a no no for me. Bass players with the most expensive gear who have little experience or talent
How's this for cheap.. my Shine doesn't even HAVE the name on the headstock...
 6.
Great use of the Birth card!
Why thank you
 7.
Are they graphite sticks? My drummer has graphite sticks andhas used the same pair for years in a Punk band.
He says they're aluminium with polyuerethane sheaths... (covers, not condoms!). He tried graphite but they stained his skins so he went off them
 8.
Pussy. 8.5lbs - heavy..............pffft
Your fender is only .1lb heavier than my first baby at birth... that's heavy! At least you're not trying to push a fender out of your wazoo...
 9.
What about your drummers Aheads?
He says 'Oh piss off' LMAO! Don't start on his sticks!
 10.
And red bull cans beside amps Loving this thread
I'll let you off... as long as you don't diss my lucozade....
 11.
....and I just hate those trousers that don't quite reach as far as your shoes!!!
Oh bog off....
 12.
Ooooo thanks for reminding me Sarah! Wooden or Exotic knobs just ruin the overall look of a bass, and in some add character. Shine are just cheap basses, some good and some bad. Laney amps, the ones I've played were as bad as Ashdowns.
But... my knobs add character... (never thought I'd be typing THAT sentance..) My shine's a beauty... As for laneys....God daaaaaaaaaaaaaaaamn yooooooooooooooooooooooou!
 13.
Laney are great at Practice/small gigging combos but when they make big heads the result is shockingly bad IMO
Good job mines a little combo for small gigs... my Laney dignity remains intact..... for the moment...
 14. Damn it.. there I was thinking that I'd manage to not have my gear slagged off... *sigh* 5 string bass - check Dean bass - check POINTY (explorer) dean bass - check... oooh wait.. I have some redeeming features... No ones dissed red eyes skull knobs (on my dean) No ones dissed Shine basses (My 5 string) No ones dissed Laney amps.. Waheeeeeeeeeeeeey... I guess there's still time...
 15.
That's not a 5string It's a cool bass though, do you like those 2 Musicmanstyle pickups?
The guy who took those pictures didn't take any of when I was using my 5 string.. just waiting for the band photographer pics to come back *runs off to see if one of the pics has her 5 string.. just for proof.. lol!* The pickups are great... reaaaaaally meaty. I actually had to lower them as it was playing too hot!
 16. Final some 'action shots!' Backstage post gig.... totally f***ed lol!
 17.
Well done mate! the first one is always the scariest, the sooner you play the next one the better you'll soon see the nerves disappear. As for the monitors at the Varsity they are how should i phrase it?...............sh*te? Did you stick around and listen to the other band?
lol you're telling me! The only think I could hear was my singing and that was the last thing I wanted to hear.. We did stick around, they were really good! Proper thrash metal so not like anything we were doing at all but still good.
 18.
i only wish they were all like that and why couldn't my first have been like that... just nice to hear that you finally got out there and did it, and who needs a second guitarist, we manage with one so why bands seem to think they need two is ridiculas, by not having a second guitarist means that you the bassist can fill the hole how ever you like! keep rocking sarah! and if you ever need storage for one of your 5 strings my rooms free!
I'm sure I'm ok for storage at the moment
 19.
A bit excited whilst playing the acoustic there!!!
Tea => keyboard That's some impressive wood you've got there!
 20.
So how'd the gig go? Hope everything held out ok......! Cheers Grahame
It went great! The amp was DI's straight into the PA. No idea how the front of house sounded but all in all it stood up well as the general mix was really good. I had to really drop the bass etc down though to prevent the speaker being overloaded but that was compensated by the PA and the room acoustics
 21.
Always good to hear great comments on your playing espeically from your peers, so well done hun!!!!
Yea, especially as my playing was all over the place..
