1. I would post up an example but I don't know how!
2.
everlong-foo fighters, painfully simple, but quite fun to play i tend to get quite aggressive when i play the chorus
We used to cover that.... our drummer hated it lol!!
3. If you're not playing it is there any point keeping it?
4. Well I had a gap this weekend of 2 days without practicing (normally 1/2 an hour a day min) and I was hopeless... so I guess for me it's the opposite! lol
5. Lastest one was Almost Easy by Avenged Sevenfold. Got it nailed now
6. Thanks everyone I don't think any of the replies have been useless at all, completely the opposite. It's great to see that it really is a case of personal choice. Think I'm going to change the strings on my Dean on sunday and see how it goes. Cheers guys!
7. I keep my strings fast fretted regularly and it keeps them clean and in good nick.
8.
Don't forget to defecate in your hand and throw it at the audience as a finale
LOL I'm a woman, I don't do things like that
9. Just to let you know I set up both my basses tonight, a 5er and a 4er.. and it took me 2 hours start to finish. Only way to learn how is to do it!
10. I've never changed a string in my life.. Currently still using factory fit strings on both my basses... aged 8 and 3 months.. IS that bad? lol How often should strings be changed?
11. Have ust adjusted the action/intonation and the neck has straightened out a bit so guess it must've been the string tension or something. Thanks everyone for the advice.
12. Yea sorry, ignore me it's sorted now. I have seperate bridge raising allen key jobbies on my other bass and had a bit of a blonde moment wondering where the same thing was on my dean... d'oh! lol!
13. I can't see anywhere to adjust the string height? Can someone help?? It's a Dean Metalman Z 2A.
14.
If you sight down the neck across the top of the frets, can you see any variation in how the frets line up with one another? Is the neck warped? If so, it might be covered by a guarantee.
How do you mean? From what it looks the whole neck curves to the right after the 5th fret.
15.
I've found necks usually bend most under 10-14th frets. If yours is bending most somewhere else, you might have a problem the truss rod can't fix. you can sort the intonation out by comparing the plucked harmonic to the fretted 12th fret note using a tuner. The closer they are to one another, the better the intonation.
Don't say that.. it's only a couple of months old!
16.
If it aint broke dont fix it. A few times i wish i had listened to that haha
Well the action and intonation needs sorting out.. just worried that I'll make it worse or something by sorting it out!
17. I noticed today that the neck on my (new) Dean is slightly bent from the 5th fret up. I say slightly as it's not massively but enough for me to notice. Apparently it's an 'up bow' bend.. (good old google). Have a gig on saturday and need to sort out the intonation and action and was going to do this tonight before I spotted the bend. It's not too extreme so I was wondering whether to leave it? I read that apparently necks should have a slight bend... but the neck on my 5 string is bolt straight.. so I don't know which to believe.. What do you guys think?
18.
At the end of the gig make sure you throw your bass on the floor, give the crowd the middle finger, say "f**k you (whatever location you happen to be in)" and then fall into the drumkit
LOL my basses are too precious for that!!!
19.
An interesting experiment would be to post the recording of the guitar riff on here and see what everyone else would put to it.
lol how would I do that?
20. After reading this thread I was inspired to check out the necks on mine... only to find that the neck on my dean is bowed out at the top slightly!! Craaaaaaaaaaaaap!
21. Its our bands debut gig on saturday. Not only this but this is both mine and our guitarists first ever gig, period! Needless to say we're both a eeensy bit nervous.. lol. I've also found that I'm getting VERY critical of my playing in the past week or so.. is that normal?? lol I know when push comes to shove a few mistakes aren't going to matter in the grand scheme of things and it'll be a great laugh.. but I still can't help beating myself up over everything!! Have a practice tomorrow night and then our last one for 3 hours on weds to sort out the final kinks... Going to set up my basses tonight, and stressing a bit as I've just discovered my Dean's neck is bowing out at the top slightly. Have done intonation and string height before but never the truss rod so not sure whether to leave it.. Eeeeeeeeeeek!
22.
i owe you all a beer and a white wine or fruit based beverage for the lady... i made slight adjustments to the truss rod literally only tiny millimeter adjustments and retuned afterwards... checked the spacing check for the buzzing and after repeating the process of de-tuning and re-tuning and checking the buzzing has now stopped and the bass sounds better than ever thankyou all... PM'd by the way...
Wine aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaall the way
23.
the truss rod is located where?
In your trousers mate.
