1. Anything other than the truss rod is a pretty simple job. Hell.. even I can do it and I'm a woman
 2. I never had the pleasure of meeting him but just wanted to pass on my condolances...
 3.
play the riff or line in the same key but on a different part of the neck for example if you need to play an open E try replacing it with the twelth fret on the E string or the 7th on the A string... all 3 are E but sound different... i rarely play the open E now un-less the song requires it play around get to know the neck and play the riff in a completely different way to the guitarist... just have some fun with it...
I do that already though, I rarely play just root notes..
 4. Another encore P bass copy here... Black with a white pickguard
 5. .. how the hell I'm supposed to 'not follow the guitar'? I've been working with riffs sent over from my guitarist and apparently everything is following the guitar.. no matter how different I try to make it???? Surely the whole point of bass is to hold down the root note (with added flair and pizazz ).... it's doing my head in and really frustrating me as it's making me feel like a sh*t bassist!!! Grrrrrr!
 6.
FAIL - I have a grand total of 0 (zero) gigs under my belt...
Same here!!!
 7.
G ----------------- D -----------4-6-7 A ----4-5-7------- E 5-7------------- This is A maj bar any silly mistakes by me. The 5th is the fifth note in the scale, so its an E in this case, the 7th fret on the A string. The 7th is the 7th note in the scale, so its a G# in this case, the 6th fret on the A string. 5ths go down aswell, so an octave below the other 5th. This would be the open E string. Does that help? I've only just started theory myself!
Oooh I think I get it. Dear lord.. spent 5-6 years playing bass... and one afternoon on theory.. oops!
 8.
Have a scan through this... http://basschat.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=16422 I've neglected it of late, but will get back to updating it.
Thanks
 9.
Mixolydian scales are genius for funk! I find, when not slapping, using this scale just works amazingly. The notes are in places that you can do good fast runs and mix it up nicely. Don't you like pretty heavy music sarah? Try diminished scales. I think these are the ones with the flat 5ths? Am i right? Just think of the opening riff to black sabbath by black sabbath. Thats the root, octave, then the flat 5th. It sound bloody terrifying.
Yea. Hard rock/metal mainly
 10.
Mine's only small but there's 17 stone rammin' it home....did I say that out loud?
*passes out at the thought*
 11.
Try A#
Yea yea I know. I'm feeling pretty thick right now. But then again I've never done any music theory..
 12.
I would say start with C major (no sharps or flats): CDEFGABC A minor (no sharps or flats) ABCDEFGA Then F Major FGABbCDEF Then D Minor DEFGABbCD Can you see a pattern developing yet?
uh.... the B occasionally likes to be awkward and flat? hang on.. how do I do a Bb when I haven't got a Bb on my fretboard???
 13. Ok... I've printed off a few... (recommended by guitarist) A natural minor E minor pentatonic A major E minor blues.. those any good? lol Am I right in thinking that the Root is just the position of the fretboard.. so if I played the 'a major' starting on the E it would then become an E major scale?
 14.
You realise, of course, that you have an additional responsibility to learn this stuff properly so you can cut the blokes out there that think that girls can't play music, especially the heavy stuff?
Tell me about it....
 15. Paintwork for me... the more outlandish the better
