2.
Don't freak out onstage when you realise you can't hear anything: yourself or the rest of the band. Just listen out for the snare drum/hi-hat and the lead vocalist. Don't be afraid to quickly, firmly and politely ask for more or less of whatever you need in the monitors after the first song on the night if the sound's all horrible. Chances are it'll be the cheap monitors and the sound engineer won't be able to do much to fix it - but it's worth piping up if there's a problem with levels.
What do you mean can't hear anything.
 3. Thanks guys.. knew I could rely on you.. any tips for the band practices leading up to the gig?
 4.
Yes. One for each bass. Enjoy it, and remember - you're only doing it for the kids!
I've got a double hanger so shouldn't be a prob and what kids.. its an 18+ venue.. lol!
 5. I'll be taking 2 basses... do you think I'll need to take my own stand?
 6. Woo! Our band has finally agreed and got our debut gig! 3 out of 5 of us have NEVER gigged before, whereas the other 2 have plenty of experience so are up for anything and know what they're doing. We're doing 2 originals and 5 covers. 2nd band on in a 4 band bill on the 30th August at the varsity in Wolverhampton. We've sorted out our setlist and are starting and finishing with our own tracks and padding out with the covers. Do any of you seasoned pros have any tips for a gig newbie? Personally I can't wait, I'm really excited, especially as it's a saturday night and usually people would have to work up to playing a saturday, especially new bands like us!!! wooooo! Any hints and tips are greatly welcomed!
 7. I lived in america for 6 years. So glad I escaped.

 13.
I have a friend who is adamant he doesn't need music theory, to the extent he was riffing under a G major chord with B flats all over the shop. It sounded "dark" to him. It sounded wrong to everyone else!! He wouldn't listen to the guys in his band so they asked me to tell him after a soundcheck once. Sure enough from that night on he switched to B naturals. The music didn't clash anymore but it still didn't sound right either - I think ideally the 3rd shouldn't have been in his riff at all under the music the guitarists were playing. Make of that what you will in the theory/no theory debate...
See... for me there you may as well be speaking chinese... lol
 14.
Just thinking - we should have a bass 'cool wall' like top gear , but without the meglomaniac or the dwarf.
ooooooooooooooooh yes! Can we? Can we? Please!!! please???? Come on.... can we?
 15. I couldn't even tell you one scale... to work out what note I'm playing I have to count it up from the open notes.. I just don't have enough hours in the day to learn. I'm self taught from playing along to CD's tab etc and yes, I could be a MUCH better player if I learnt the theory like scales etc, but I'm the only one in my band (other than the drummer) who can learn something totally by ear without looking at a tab..... and both the guitarists have recently passed their grade 5s...
 16. Headed for me... headless just look wrong imho..
