Had my audition. The guy who was doing mine was lovely, but of course as soon as he started recording my performance piece I went into panic mode and started sweating all over lol. Apparently there was a bit of lag but he said he could tell that what I was playing was right from my hand positions as he knew the track well honestly himself. In the end he only got need to do the one piece and didn't ask me to do a separate piece to show groove, timing etc as said he was really happy with what I played and that I did really well. Long story short, I got in! Looks like the next couple of years are going to be a fast track to bass awesomeness

Cradle of filth, Dimmu Borgir, Morbid angel, Mushroom head, Slayer, Pantera, Killswitch engage, raging speedhorn, sikth..... I like a bit of everything and anything generally but I draw the line at things like Nile and 'agoraphoboic nosebleed' where it's someone growling incoherently down a mic for 5 minutes while a guitar shrieks in the background.

OMG.. my audition is tomorrow and I'm just freaking out about all the things I don't know that they'll probably ask me 🤣 On the plus side.. it's my birthday! 36 today and don't feel a day of 35 and 364 days.

Exactly this. An expensive, luxury bass for me is £1000. I'm not someone who can drop 3k+ on a dream bass so there's no point dreaming above my means! If I ever won the lottery I'd totally buy a dingwall tho.

I had been lusting after a BTB Ibanez for years. They looked stunning, had the pickups I like, and already beign a big Ibanez fan I was certain I'd play one and fall instantly in love. That was until I actually played one. The sound was lacking and weak, plus t didn't feel anything like the Ibanez I'd played in the past and loved. It felt bulky, heavy and just not the same as I'd imagined. Needless to say I no longer want a BTB Ibanez. Have you had any basses that you'd wanted but just didn't fit the bill when you actually came to play them?

I've been trawling the internet but can't seem to find a cover for the Ashdown ABM115. All I can find is one that's since been discontinued. Does anyone know where I can get one, or at least find a cover that would fit?

Also, I can't stand the beatles. If anyone wants me I'll be in hiding.

I can't stand the stuff from early punk, ie sex pistols/ramones etc. I have yet to find a song from that genre I like

Nah, I've ditched off the sight reading now I know enough to blag it. They're not expecting me to play from sheet music, I just wanted to get familiar with it/the notes and know the FACE/GBDFA etc. I'm back to the metronome now
