  1. You've just described my set up mentioned above! Cool! Very pleased about that
  2. NO WAY!!! His playing on Barbara Thompson's Paraphenalia is great. A notable mention for Dil Katz and Dave Ball on bass.
  3. One cab with a pending sale already. Thank you Tarman!
  4. Yes, they do certainly deliver! I'd be keeping if it wasn't for the lure of the FR800 models! and thank you, very kind of you to say - and likewise, I'd trust you with my 7 string. Which I say to exactly nobody. Ever
  5. They are amazing, I am planning an upgrade to the FR800 which is the active (internal amplifier) version. Otherwise, these puppies would be going nowhere!
  6. I can now reveal that my 'valve amp tone' if you want to call it that is just a drive pedal and an IR. Recording has never been so easy!
  7. Absolutely stunning pickups going spare! Used but by no means abused. Get them for a substantial saving over new. http://www.aguilaramp.com/pickup-series/soapbar-pickups/ http://www.aguilaramp.com/wp-content/uploads/aguilar-pickup-dcb-g5.pdf Will fit EMG 45 size pockets. These pickups are of the rail/bar type and thus string spacing is of no consequence. That's why I love them.
  8. Yes! I recall having a long conversation with Dave Meros years ago about recording his bass tone (which is epic by the way) and he said his top tip was to add more drive than you think you need and he talked a bit about the importance of mids too.
  9. Oh yes indeed, what works in an isolated environment (at home for example) is a very different story to what works 'in the mix' either recorded or on stage. I can think of so many examples! You have hit upon one of the best ways to hear the differences by seeking out isolated bass tracks and then to have a go at recreating them. Guitarists should absolutely do the same!
  10. Anyone collecting two or more pedals (not including the Red Sub) and I'll throw in a new pedal case too whilst I still have it!
  11. Signs of use on the outside but still sounding awesome on the inside! Grab a bargain.
  12. Boss FC-50 MIDI controller - £55
  13. Ok, so not as much as £600 but lots to choose from: I am selling up as both the need for cash and also that my effects needs have been taken over by one multi-effects beast. Thus the following are for sale: TC Electronic Mojo Mojo £30 Red Sub BEQ-2 EQ - £15 TC Electronic Ditto Looper £60 Boss GEB-7 £45 Tech 21 MIDI Moose (Foot Controller) bagged, boxed and I've never used it in all the time I've owned it! £85 COG Rogue Leader (Like a Boss LS-2 wet/dry active effects loop with phase switches) £80 Barefaced BB2 cabinets advertised in Amps&Cabs TC SubnUp MINI - yes the best octave pedal on the market isn't getting any use from me right now! £68 VITOOS DC8 pedal board power. A highly regarded ISOLATED power supply, a clone of a well known brand I guess - £45. Never used outside of the house. (See below for more details) Boss FC-50 MIDI Foot Controller - Great fr changing patches on effects units and pedals such as the Helix range.
  14. I'm based near Norwich, btw! It should also be noted that the covers alone are £75 each and there's one for each cabinet. P.S PRICE IS FIXED. I won't be doing that "start high and work down in price" thing. I'm already doing these at a massive barg' price.

I have two barely used BB2 Generation three cabinets with OFFICIAL Barefaced covers for sale. They are for sale as I would ideally like to purchase the FR versions instead. Ok, looks like only one of those for now, but I need to sell these before I can go anywhere near the FR's. The reason for sale being is that I am loving using my Line 6 Helix for pretty much everything now and it makes sense to go down the FRFR route using an active cabinet rather than extra amplifiers and cables. To be honest, 90% of the time I am using IEMs anyway so these are staying at home in their covers! I have boxes and shipping will of course be extra, to be arranged by yourself. Collection therefore is a much better option and I might be able to deal on selling both at the same time (collected)
  16. Gotta agree here, I put NYXL's on my Shuker 6 string after using up the last of my FlexSteels and slap bass sounded great this weekend.
  17. Indeed it was Lee who put Dingwall on to those smaller frets. Hi sown Lee Sklar Dingwall bass does indeed have Mandolin frets whereas all the other models in the Dingwall range are Banjo sized frets.
  18. Actually just spotted on the website that it is the USB versions that bus power, not the TB versions.. Whilst I am here though, the Clarett is a great, great interface. Mine is use every day and has been used for recording bass on some pro releases. rock solid, dead easy to use and the low latency figures are bonkers good. Love it. I also love the free plug ins that come with the interfaces too including Addictive Keys, which I use every day.
  19. Ooh! - Do I need to change my cable? I am using my existing TB2 cable in to a TB3 adaptor in to the back of my new Mac. Bus Power doesn't seem to work, or are you referring to a USB3 version of Claret?
  20. When the bass in the shop window that in no way you could ever afford to buy is sold..

      Also curious...

What object of desire would tempt the man who gets to review all that kind of kit at work?

The rather lovely 76 P bass on the Wunjo website. It was a Natural w/Rosewood. Lovely!
