Level 1 revelation for me was the initial run through using my IEMs with the XR18. Level 2, 3 & 4 was receiving a full stereo mix, loading plug ins, saving personalised mixes and then leaving my amps at home! I am a convert! Love it!!

Oh wait!! I've just thought of something! I mean, I really had no money to even entertain the idea at the time, but I was offered a pair of ex-demo FR800's last year. I regret not selling my kidneys to buy them. There ya go!

I've a clone power supply that has isolated outputs and two are 1A each. Is that enough to power the HXFX? I'll dig out a link; I've been rather surprised at how good it is for the money!

Good question. I'm not sure if there's anything I have regretted buying. I've enjoyed the learning process goes with having time to really play an instrument or amp before letting it go. I live in an area where it is monumentally difficult to try out bass gear, so buying secondhand seems to be the best option. I've a weird OCD-like tendency to analyse and pick apart every potential purchase to a point of driving myself up the wall. I guess it's part of my nature to not be able to leave anything alone until I've figured it out (bass lines, improving my playing etc) so I guess that has been part and parcel with the above that has made buying stuff lots of fun...even if I do have to sell it after! Things I wish I had bought? Only the lack of funds have been the decider. Kinda wish I could buy a nice vintage YOB Fender P bass though! and a... oh and a... then there's a .. I'd like..

We buy them because we want them. We sell them because we can't afford to buy other stuff we need unless we do. There's two basses I would love to have back, I know where they are (kinda) but seeing them again is probably unlikely.. a bit like my music career lol.

I guess a better question would be, "what costs do you take in to account when quoting for a function or wedding" as that can affect the fee greatly. If you google, there's a few good blogs out there that help with deciding a final cost. It seems like a lot of musicians sell themselves short and are not sure how to value their product. Although on the flip side, there's some truly horrendous pub bands out there too lol.

JJ Burnell has a signature Shuker bass, and there is a model known as the CarbonLite, which retains all the beef of a P bass, with much less weight and a gorgeous carbon fibre neck! You should absolutely consider Shuker at the top of your list, especially given the custom options you can have pretty much whatever you want, but picking from the available design selections will make things easier to chose. In terms of neck stability, you can, but you needn't go for carbon. For example my 7 string is made up of a 7 piece laminate neck through that features 4 carbon inserts and two truss rods. It has been rock solid at over ten years old and of course much cheaper to manufacture, if cost is a baring.

It varies almost daily, although I have my 'idols' that I blame for helping to mould me as a musician. For example I felt musically nourished today after listening to the new Lydian Collective album. Some really tasty tunes on there. Sophie Alloway's drumming is superb and the grooves are just stellar. Tomorrow, who knows. David Maxim Micic? Meshuggah? Jean-Michel Jarre? I bloody love music x

Not a multi-instrumentalist but a percussionist. I'd say I have been pretty wowed by a few performances on percussion only. Young Musician Of The Year is a pretty good place to see some incredible talent. Of course Evelyn Glennie I'd say is a particularly well known name in percussion.

I'm a long time user of a huge array of D'Addario products. I use them every day for long hours sometimes. For the most part, I have noted a failure rate which is minuscule in the grand scheme of things. When I have had a problem, D'Addario's customer service has been exemplary - for years. That's pretty awesome considering they don't just make strings. They have a wide customer base to answer to and still mange to help folk with a superb quick turn around. Nothing but good to say about @D'Addario UK And yes, in terms of disclosure, I do endorse D'Addario. I am (proudly) on the artist roster, but I wouldn't have accepted if I couldn't rely on them for my business needs. So, Thank you Adam and co, you are brilliant, give yaselves a pat on the back! Now, I should really get on with writing this new album.. lol.. D'Addario don't do any anti-procrastination products!!

I can't be sure, but if it's the same clamp that I have for my wall hangers, then no, a 6 string bass headstock won't fit, even my narrow 6er doesn't. I've always just used the triangle floor types that support the back of the instrument instead so I don't buy something and find it won't fit my 6's and 7's.
