  1. Or if you are a bit old school, then here's a PDF with string gauges and tensions too:
  2. Here's a superb tool for deciding the ideal string gauges for a given tuning! @daddario_uk http://www.daddario.com/DAstringtensionguide.Page?sid=304dc307-655e-4790-915e-4d4a3818ad6c
  3. Mine is slow loading pages but typing is ok. Safari on Macbook Pro.
  4. Definitely check out my video as it could offer an alternative. If I think of anything else I'll drop you a line, but let's face it, when the P2 eventually appears (are they available yet? pre-order on G4M) 40 quid is nothing to test out a theory really. Good luck and keep me posted.
  5. This is awesome guys! - No rush as it's gonna take me a bit of time to get some other stuff out the way and set up my space to shoot some video again. Though I really don't wanna have to use the same set up as last time, I really want to buy a decent camera (with the money I don't have!)
  6. Good question. 12" would seem logical but I'd really want to try the 15" version. The three way model slips outside of an agreeable weight limit. The 15" 2 way version comes in at around 25Kg which is do-able for an all-in-one meaning that all of the backline can just stay at home. Also benefiting from feeding in keys (HPF'd) and vocals for a bit of spread at the back of the stage. I would dearly love a pair of Barefaced FR800's, they'd be amazing and would replace my BBII's. The Yamaha does have a pair of inputs and the onboard DSP, accessible from the back panel could possibly be a big thumbs up. Oh and the angled cabinet for monitor use is a plus.. yes I do have a stand here for angling cabinets upwards, but I have so many silly fiddly things to deal with on stage already it's wasting time and patience. Yup, for some gigs, I wanna turn up with my Helix, Monitor(s) and a box of leads.. or less ha ha!
  7. I spotted the announcements at Frankfurt Messe via YouTube but the products have been up on the Yamaha website for a while, so unsure of the exact release date.
  8. News appears to be circulating that actor Verne Troyer has died. :(

That man had a BIG screen presence.

      He'll be missed.

Poor Mini-Me, seems like he suffered a lot with depression and substance issues.

  9. Pretty much sums it up, yeah.. lol
  10. At the danger of getting this thread back on track, I see that Yamaha have announced the new DZR range to their powered PA kit. Given that I'm finding my way around my Helix (Yamaha own Line 6) and that our band PA is a full Yammy system too, I can't help thinking that I might like to try out a fully DSP controlled monitor instead of my backline.
  11. WOW!!!! Thank you so much! I'll give these a good listen through my studio monitors! Much appreciated! Off to a flying start!
  12. I use and have the device that behringer 'modelled' their P2 on, namely the Fischer Stick. The Fischer is a very high quality and excellent headphone amplifier and yes you could take a line out from your amp, in to this and direct in to your IEMs. I have another option you could try out too: This video I do need to update as I have some other solutions I use too. Maybe using a little mixer instead of the P2, you could blend your bass volume with that of the on stage sound but at a much more controllable volume in your moulded IEMs!
  13. I have Line 6 Native and will be looking forward to trying the DG plug in out too. I also use the awesome Positive Grid BIAS 2 and BIAS FX apps on my studio box. It'll be interesting to compare!
  14. Hey folks! Ok, so ages ago I promised (and let the side down) that I would re-do my TC Electronic Sub n' Up patches and share the settings with you. Well, ok so it didn't happen and I ended up finishing recording the biggest album of the year instead* So, in an attempt to pull my finger out (and take six months to complete this task) I want to see if we can emulate the sounds of some of our favourite Octave pedals using the stonking Sub'n'Up pedal and it's deeply delving TonePrint Editor app. Here's what I need: The sound of a dry bass recorded through the octave pedal of choice direct in to an interface (no amp please). Preferably with a P bass or J bass with all controls all the way open. I want to hear dry only and wet only sounds and a 50/50 mix. Wav files would be ideal but 320k MP3 of course would be a smaller file size. I'll then see what I can rustle up this end - and hopefully if I do finally get a new camera, a nice video to go with it too, like my bass chat review vids. What do you all think? @Al Krow I know you've been very patient! Dooooooood. *give it another 8 months, maybe!

    Line 6 Helix.

I tried to have a look at the forum, but I couldn't get in for all the toys thrown everywhere... dear me!

    Line 6 Helix.

I'm pretty excited as Nick very Kindly shared the first pictures with me. I love these and have put my order in already!

Oh man! I missed all the fun!
  18. The impedance will drop down to 4 Ohms in parallel and up to 16 Ohms in series. The wattage is best described, to simplify things, as being the lower of the two values to be safe. Or to put it another way, I wouldn't want to throw a full 600W signal at a 250W rated speaker for too long. Though in reality this (a constant 600W signal) rarely happens.
  19. Which in Focusrite terms is insanely good. Even my humble laptop has been able to attain the advertised low latency figures below 2ms..
  20. I was there too! What a day!
  21. I was listening to BIMM's own Spotify list for bass which has some nice tunes on it and thought this one could do with a bump! This is a collaborative list, so BassChatters can add their own favourite bass lines too!
  22. Absolutely ace and if I were to add some 'further reading' that is absolutely relevant to us bassists: Aimee Nolte and Rick Beato are superb educators that cover everything from really simple musical techniques (I think the cool kids call them 'hacks') to an impressive display of full on mind melting theory. All wrapped up in a very watchable and engaging delivery.
  23. p.s. that bass was gorgeous!
  24. Tone bends for the win: (You don't have to watch the whole video, just a wee bit of noodling at the start!)
