  1. Yes, I should have said! Mine is an 89 the other is an unpainted 87.
  2. I've also just spotted that yours has similar serial to mine with the same bridge on - my other PJBS has a standard 'bent tin' bridge.
  3. I love these basses. BassChat probably knows that already. My two are customised a little and they are by far my favourite Fender PJ bass. £450 is a crazy giveaway price as the cost of say a body refinish (at a reasonable rate) will still put the bass at it's average market value. I think anyway.
  4. Hi ya! You'll be surprised, the bridge is standard - I have two PJBS basses and the first had this type of bridge too! The good news is that like for like models can be found brand new on eBay for little cash (I replaced mine)
  5. Does it ever!
  6. O.M.G.. an HD212... Lordy, Lordy, Lordy <3
  7. Visitors to BC over the years may well have seem me bang on about what I suppose is still a favourite 'tonally coloured' speaker cabinet, the Hartke 4.5XL. I've had about 6 of those 45Kg beasts over the years. Too heavy for my poor back now. Imagine my excitement when I find I can have 600 different IR's of this famous cabinet to play with on Helix and my DAW???!!!!! Could I have 'Dan's 90's Tone' back again??? Watch this space! (My back says thank you)

@SpondonBassed - You beat me to my reply - yours is a bit more concise and yes spot on. What's funny is that in terms of being coloured (in) the Hartke 4.5XL has aluminium cones and thus are shiny silver. The crayons are nice... but you know... shiny!!! (oh man. I'm a Magpie)

Which tends to be heavier?  Hartke or TE gear?

Hartke I believe are the only one out of the two that offer Neodymium in their range? So by default that would be my answer, but I think the Hartke 4.5XL is heavier than Trace's 4x10 equivalent.

  8. By responding, I fear I am bumping the post and less likely to snaffle it by the time I've one the lottery!
  9. Thank you indeed, I really do appreciate your words greatly! Can I quote you for my ‘testimonials’ on my FB Page? You’ve hit the nail on the head. I love doing these reviews and I feel lucky I suppose that I’m allowed to say it ‘how it is’. This one for example I chose to do a technical review because so many others had focussed on the simple stuff online. As it happens this and the HyperGravity Mini are two of my favourite compressors. My Nova Dynamics being the third! Cheers, Dan
  10. Thank you for working it out for me and yes, thinking about it, my Shuker are 9mm at the nut, so 8mm would probably be ok unless the player was blessed with "builders hands"!
  11. I guess the main problem here is that you get in to the limits of a comfortable amount of space between strings, even the big fat ones. A 43mm will give you (wait whilst I work it out) slightly less than 9mm between each string if there were zero room on the outer edges of the nut. Though it wouldn't cost too much at all to test the theory and have a nut made with a more squat spacing - At least that way you could decide if you want to stick with this one or, I suppose the next step would be going custom and specifying each dimension. (Cost implication of course!)
  12. Yes, I think I did ask Delano as I am more of a Blade fan than pole pieces but also due to the unusual string spacing I went for those too. They are the Bartolini P? size so will drop straight in. The Nordstrands, I'm enjoying the sound of the Big Singles. Carey makes some great pickups but my go to has always been EMG. I'd really love EMG to branch out and do different shell sizes (like the P2 etc) as I think there are lots of bassists who don't wanna carve wood out of their basses but love EMGs. Great news on Nord' having pickup plans, that's cool. I kinda wish that I'd spent more time with mine, but, as it seems to be lately as well, bills seem to take care of my purchases quite quickly. Sole earner and 4 mouths to feed!
  13. The Delano SBC 5 string Driver pickups drop straight in too. I had a GVB for a while. Loved it! My preamp didn’t have the issues you speak of though, so I wonder if it is faulty? In the end, I dropped in three EMG DC pickups which turned the bass in to an absolute beast. Silly me, I sold it.. duh! I never learn.
  14. When Doves Cry - Prince * Yeah I know, its that time again

    Line 6 Helix.

    Ignore this post.
  16. @Bikenbass very kindly got me Guy's book and had it signed for me when I couldn't make it to his show. A really thoughtful gesture and I have it in my (rather small) book collection.
  17. And Schaller strap locks too it seems!
  18. Here ya gooooo!
  19. Close up: Blink and you'll miss it at 34.16
  20. The bridge has been changed out for a Schaller 3D. I would be very surprised if the hardware had been gold plated. That doesn't seem to make a great deal of sense when premium hardware such as the Schaller keys that drop in are so good and cheaper in comparison.
  21. Wunjo have a 73 for £3k..
  22. UPS for me have been excellent every time. They even stopped me in the street once to tell me they were on their way to deliver a parcel so I could get home in time
  23. I'm really sorry to hear it. I know that sinking feeling well.
