Dood! What are you doing? A refin and then you put it down on the gravelly ground?! Looks bloomin' ace though.
Jon uses something underneath the instruments when he takes pictures of them Thank you, I’ve been playing it again tonight and really missed not having it. It’s a total joy to play.
Interesting that you went for neck face dots.....you actually use them? Si
You’ve seen the size of my new glasses right? Ha ha ha! Actually, for the really fast tapping stuff, yeah it helps!

If it's any help, it could be suggested that the members of staff in the actual shop are just as frustrated over the difficulties with the part of the business they have no control over too.
I have no experience of bass drive pedals at all. I've used an Ampeg combo with the scrambler circuit and I do occasionally run my bass through a Tube Screamer. Both of these can give a not entirely unpleasant drive sound but not the one I'm looking for. Can anyone identify the drive sound at 5 min 30 in this video, or something that could replicate it? https://www.youtube....h?v=gnVyH-tZ9Ac
Mike is plugged straight in to the front of an Aguilar TH head - either the TH350 or TH500 will do 'that sound', but if you don't have the head and the SL112 cabinet also featured, then maybe try the Aguilar ToneHammer pedal instead
Ah I see now, I was interested as my thumb is usually anchored on the pickup regardless of what string I am playing, which means my wrist angle changes depending on what string I am playing, so I was wondereing if I can expect pain problems at some point in the future! Thanks for the explanation Dan.
I hope it helps! That's interesting point re: anchoring the thumb on the pickup regardless of string - there are plenty of players that do. One of my drivers for dropping the thumb down on to the adjacent string for me is that I have more control over playing fast with three fingers when my thumb is closer to them. As an analogy , try typing with your thumbs spread a long distance from your fingers and it feels weird. Also, again, for me, resting my thumb on an adjacent string has the secondary effect of muting the string it is resting on, which is always handy should you be playing at full volume using way too much distortion It helps to keep things clean and not have strings resonating out by themselves. As it happens when I am resting on the A string, more often than not my thumb leans up against the E string too, (But I do have long fingers!) so I have the added benefit of muting both the E and A strings when I am playing the D. This leaves me extra right and left hand muting available for the part being executed. To reiterate for others reading, my original point was about not placing the weight of the arm on the thumb joint and to not bend the wrist over too much.
Hey guys, thanks everyone for all the comments and feedback. As for weight and specs we did screw up with the 210 weight on the release date. As for the weight, given that this are our first cabs I just wanted to go for whatever sounded best, we did a lot of tests with different drivers and materials and decided that Eminence ceramics (custom made for us) and a Baltic birch construction was the way to go solely for how they sounded. Most UK dealers should be getting them within a week's time, looking forward to hearing what you guys think once you've tried them! Regards, D.
If we can hook something up, I will be happy to video review the m900 and a pair of cabs in Guitar Interactive for everyone. I will as requested focus on the clean tones too. I’d also like to get Alpha Omega and it’s little sibling over for a review too in which I’ll endure the non-full bore tones are demonstrated too. The mag has a massive readership all over the world but I still focus on ‘No Shred, No Ego, Just Bass’, because I want the gear to shine rather than trying to focus on ‘the player’.
Amp and speaker in all its glory, but what goes in comes out. When you play that bass in the review (a revamped P-bass Lyte???) you have a creamy nice tone. I believe you sound the same regardless of amp... Also a thought about the switching between "none" and the cabinet setting: "None" had that cardboard box-ish tone that sounds dull and boring on its own, but is very much needed in a live/band mix. My own experience is when your bass sound is nice by itself it gets lost. A bit like the great Anthony Jackson; his sound is not that flattering alone, but in the music context it just sits right there. A good review from you as usual...
That bass of mine needs a review of it’s own, it gets lots of compliments! It’s a Japanese Fender, a Power Jazz Bass Special, which is the ‘steroids’ version of the 80’s Jazz Bass Special basses. Both models sought after for very good reason. Yes it has been revamped by me. I’ll counter your point about the profiles. Yes, it is down to the user what sound they go for and experience tells you what works in a mix. However, the profiles aren’t just a ‘nice’ button. It’s not a preshape or colour switch or mid scoop. The profiles help to ensure that what comes out of the speaker is closer to what went in to the front of the amplifier. You’ll have to excuse my enthusiasm, but experience of this amp, I can confirm, you don’t disappear in the mix for enabling the function. If anything, I spend way less time EQ’ing because I hear what the PA guy does - and often, that EQ is virtually flat

Gig 17 days after carpal tunnel surgery???
Dood replied to chrisanthony1211's topic in General Discussion
Didn’t the doctor/specialist cover all of this before being booked in for the Op? -
D’Addario Planet Waves Cable Kits! http://www.planetwaves.com/pwCableStation.Page D’Addario are well loved around these parts and these kits are simple, tidy and work a treat.

Gig 17 days after carpal tunnel surgery???
Dood replied to chrisanthony1211's topic in General Discussion
I’d take a guess and say 6 weeks minimum. A mate of mine, who is a top guitarist took months away from professional playing when he had carpal tunnel trouble. -
Looks good....when everybody else is going down the relic route it's nice to see a refreshment....You may be starting a new trend.
Yes, I do seem to be refinishing a few of my guitars recently!!! It's great to see them in a fresh lick of paint!
Ooooh, Sally's gone all crackly she looks lush bro. What are the new pickups? Same again or different configuration?
Ha ha ha ha!! Sally!!!! Oh dear me!! Yeah a fresh set of EMG DCs have gone in after having previously had a set or passives in there for a bit.

In short, no. I don't think Zoom do any rack mount guitar gear anymore.
Bluetooth foot switch arrived direct from Bergantino today. It works perfectly and my plan to use the assignable effects loop on/off option does exactly what I hoped. Wire free rehearsal tomorrow!
I never knew I needed a wireless foot controller until I received mine for my B|Amp too!!! So handy! - I love that it's really flat too, so it slips in to the B|Amp bag too pretty much taking up zero space.

From my FB: @DanVeallBassist My custom Shuker Bass has been away for a service and spec update! After many, many years of gigging, it has taken a few knocks and bashes. Jon Shuker of Shuker Bass Guitars who built this bass to my specifications for me back in 2009 worked his magic with those golden hands once again to bring my bass a new lease of life. The bass has a new set of pickups, the addition of neck position markers and an incredible crackle finish with (yes you've guessed it) a Chameleon Flip Paint finish over the top of that. Jon has also enclosed the headstock string clamp altogether for a really tasteful neck end. The bass itself is a Neck-Thru featuring a 7 piece laminate of Wenge and Maple on to which Light Ash wings are attached. The tone is big, sustaining with lots of detail in the top end as well as a kick drum punch in the lows owing to the electronics on board. Hardware comes courtesy of ABM for the tuners and the locking nut is custom made.

Rane are known for great rack gear - I can't imagine this wouldn't sound good on bass considering the amount of control you have over your frequency range.

The Piano hasn't been replaced yet, neither has the Acoustic Drum Kit. Sure we have different ways of making those sounds, but they very much remain. I see no different for all other instruments.. even the violin is still here lol lol

I appreciate it's a desktop, but whilst the discussion is on Macs and upgrading, I had a 27" iMac - I think late 2011 model. It was an i5 Quad core and as mentioned above was a model that could be upgraded. It ended up with a 1Tb Sandisk SSD inside (in addition to the 1Tb drive it came with) and a whopping 32Gb RAM on board. A very impressive machine which given the price they go for secondhand is a great purchase with the upgrades on board. Now I need to be mobile so much more I have a MacBook Pro. It's a late 2013 i7. The RAM can't be upgraded and I certainly miss the 32Gb! - There is a kit to do the SSD and I will get round to that one day, but the 1Tb SSD for the MacBook Pro is very expensive!!

Thank you everyone else too. It’s usually eBay I go to, but the sets I usually grab for a reasonable price weren’t available. Thanks all and a big thank you to Ambient!
