I've 'played' through the Trickfish but I am yet to get my hands on a pair of 112MNTs and a Spartan to try out. Sadly on this occasion neither the Trickfish or the included cabinets made the journey. Shame really as on paper they seemed like a nice piece of kit. Looking forward to hearing the red faced demons though. Marc Vanderkley is a lovely guy.
Without an XLR out! It was a dealbreaker for me.
Have a look out for the Fender rebadged Mooer 'Micro DI' pedal. Super little box even has a cabinet simulator on board. So cheap I bought two for when I do actually need a DI pedal.

Yes I have one of these too! It's very well made, but the only downside is that one evening I sweated like mad in a really hot venue and I've made the suede side ripple from when it got wet and dried out. No biggy as it still feels ok on my shoulder. I have another very cool 4" strap that came via Amazon Prime from Minotaur. I'm really impressed with the one I have got. Nicely padded too. This one has a smooth underside and less likely to suffer as the Hypnotic has.

The offerings on YouTube doing demos of these pickups against others are thin on the ground. Anyone using them care to do some video/sound clips? Thoughts? Cheers!

Hi! I've seen them but not tried them. My only reservation about an empty cabinet is that the cabinet should have been modelled to get a certain response from a specific speaker. Is the one you have the speaker that should go in to this size box? 'Any speaker' can work, but I've seen the results of getting it really wrong.

String identification experts, if you please...
Thanks - Any way of telling ?
Quick search of google for some images: Fender: D'Addario: Sorry, quick search so I didn't grab larger images. {edit} These are obviously guitar strings, but the colours used are the same if not necessarily exactly for each string. -
Not sure if this has been covered, but right hand grip can be the problem when it comes to 'sticky glossy necks'. If your hand is sticking to the neck, then the chances are your grip could be improved. I've un-taught 'broom handling' to many bass players and they have found that they can play more fluidly and have less problems with shiny necks on hot sweaty gigs. Just a thought which might be helpful! Dooooood.

Looks very cool. A great idea! I only hope that there's the option to blend in clean bass in all of the effects to make it useable for bassists too. It'd be great to be able to use drives and distortion, but not useable if there's no option to keep our all important low end intact. Other than that, seamlessly melding on board effects with external pedals is a dream come true and the reason I bought my TC Electronics G-System (currently for sale). There's no manual online I can see for this pedal yet, so I await to find out more. The Zoom B3n is obviously a hot topic too but of course is bass orientated out of the box. I'm looking forward to seeing some reviews.
I think it's just a case of the Guitar being out of tune (for what ever reason). It's not in concert pitch. The Keyboards are in tune at C# (for some reason a semi tone up from the studio recording). The giveaway for me, is the Bass is pumping out C# Quavers along with the Keys. So C# must have been the key decided before hand. But knows or cares...? It's a very, very funny clip.
I was intrigued by the comments on the YouTube video so I grabbed my bass and yeah, the keys are playing C# but Eddie's guitar isn't playing a C even if he was meant to be a semi-tone out by accident. So I agree, something was up with the EVH machines that night. Strangely odd that the choice was made to play the song up a semi-tone anyway, but sometimes that can be an easy choice if a song before or after is in a similar guitar tuning. I've no idea if that case meant to be the case here. Bit cringey throughout, though I think DLR smashing himself in the face with his chrome pole live on US TV is probably up there with memorable VH performances.

Does anyone play Riders on the Storm correctly?
Dood replied to Yukimajou's topic in General Discussion
For comfort, I'd place it on the 7th fret of the A string position. Either way, yes, to be in the right register it's not down at the bottom of the neck, open E. -
I've got a HD210, sounds great and is a breeze to move around
I guess that would make a cool stack with an HD210!
That's cool - it looks purple on the video. I was typing quickly: I didn't really mean bitsa, but more that it looked like it had been specially configured at least. I must have been half asleep as the body looked more P than J. You also did a very good review of the ABZ6 - don't tell me you bought one of those too! I really think the B|Amp is the start of something: I know there's been a kick back against digital (;all analog or it's fake, man! and people who swear they can spot the digital effect from the analog in blind tests), but the sophistication of electronics as applied by people like Bergantino, Source Audio and others means the boundaries for what can be done are limitless.
It's ok, I took no offence or anything like that It certainly has been customised though - and actually you are right, the body is a highly sculpted P bass body. The 'Jazz Bass Special' version doesn't have the extra cutaways, this was reserved for the 'Power' model with active electronics. Really the only Jazz bit is the neck, which I understand, and have no proof, was profiled on a '62 Jazz neck. Certainly wonderfully comfortable and the usual super high quality Japanese workmanship, even now the bass is 30 years old. I guess the inclusion of the J pickup in the bridge position has a bit of a J Bass nod to it. Thank you! I did my best to run away with the ABZ6. I didn't buy that one but yes I have an AB1 and a Combustion in my fleet. One of the downsides of this job is *having to* (ha) be *forced to* play the very best basses the market has to offer, year after year.. Oh well, someone has to do it I suppose!! I have to agree with you regarding the B|Amp. It's bridging the gap between PA with DSP and Bass gear. I like that these options are available but you don't have to use them either. There's no doubt that enabling the Speaker Profiles is a noticeable change to the sound and is a function that works and is useful. There's so much more though. There's an adjustable HPF on board, configurable line out, the afore mentioned parametric EQ, wireless foot controller and tuner. There's three different drives available and even the ability to notch the fan up when you are using a 2 Ohm load to provide a bit of extra cooling when it is needed. Firmware updates future proof the amplifier and via a standard USB stick means it's also very simple to do.
Would it not have been worth sending the pedal back for another in return? If it's just odd units that are affected?
Yup, or just try using the Firmware that fixes the problem, it seems: https://www.talkbass.com/threads/new-firmware-released-for-tc-electronic-spectra-comp.1268962/
The latest firmware does include some nifty features, including a new bluetooth foot controller for switching between presets, tuner and mute function. I think there's other things it can do too! Thank you, very kind Awwww! My bass! It's not a bitsa! I have a pair of these and this is a bass with a long story behind it, but in short, it is an AMAZING Fender Power Jazz Bass Special from 1989. It started life in Candy Apple Red (the other is in the red still) but after many years it was time for an upgrade. So a jolly nice chap by the name of Mark Ball Of Musical Instrument Rehab decided that given my penchant for flip paint offered up a new coat for my bass. It started off as a bit of an experiment with a different base coat, but it will do a flip paint colour change between a mixture of Pink, Burgundy Mist, Gunmetal Blue and Grey depending on how you spin it in daylight. Like those TVR car paint jobs - although under the studio lights the effect isn't as strong. All other upgrades I did myself. Full set up, new hardware throughout including a Glockenklang 3 Band pre and EMG PJ actives. The Red version is mostly upgraded, but it has a 2 band Glock circuit that I want to change for three at some point. On the subject of Musical Instrument Rehab, I foresee another paint job happening very soon with a jaw dropping flip paint. Keep your eyes peeled! Here's an outside pic on my Instagram of the PJBS looking very pink!
They look very clever and I see on tb that Jim announces new patches/updates every now and then: compression and new cabs etc. Loved the review vid too: dood, what mix of shiny bass bits is the purple machine btw? So, does anyone actually own one still? lol

Tom Bowlus loves them. I respect Tom's opinion on amplifiers and cabinets greatly.
I'm thinking Geoff Tate and Mike Patton. I know Def Leppard but don't lusten to them. Thank you for your opinion really appreciate it. Hoping to get more views on the song.
Yes! Tate! Exactly what I was thinking!! Bang on Are you planning to expand on the theme? Add more sections etc?

I'd put it in the 'Power Rock' category rather than metal. There's some rock influences in there for sure. Early Def Leppard, a bit of Harris-esque bass and atmosphere from Malmsteen. I can just hear some high pitched soaring vocals in there and you'll be set.
Coming late to the party, but for others with a G10 an alternative fix could be this... http://www.switchcra...wings/13_cd.pdf http://www.switchcra...ct.aspx?ID=2698 Rather than a TRS arrangement to make a power circuit closed for the bass preamp it has an isolated make circuit separate from the audio circuit. The jack tip locales in a plastic cup and physically pushes the circuit closed. This is the arrangement Wal use for switching on their active circuits.
That's a brilliant idea and a more permanent fix verses my patch lead approach. I like this one! I didn't know Switchcraft made them, thank you!
