You put them on eBay. You don't get much for each one, but they all add up.
Brilliant!!!!
I'd love to see a thread about this! I've just bought an unfinished alder body.
Ok! Will do!
I've just put my order in with the exceptional Jon Shuker of ShukerGuitars.co.uk as I have a 70's neck that needs mating with a body. The 'John Deacon' tribute (80-85 period) will be coming together courtesy of the fine hands of Jon. Alder, natural and a quality finish that will allow the body to resonate!
I may part with the bass pictured earlier when the new one arrives, we shall see!
Could anybody recommend a UK luthier to supply a 70's style, natural P-Bass body finished with a 'vintage tint'? Nothing 'coffee table' fancy, alder or swamp ash, not too heavy and not too valuable? I remember them being featured in Guitarist Magazine years ago. There's a Stratocaster version too!
One of the big problems is that live music in pubs hasn't moved with the times.
and venues are still paying the same as they did when i first started gigging in them.

Ok, I've been searching the internet for info' and indeed it does appear that these crossovers are only a high-pass filter for the tweeter to filter out the lows. The woofer isn't affected and thus no, you are unlikely to notice any difference bypassing the crossover. For now, just pop the other cabinet with the working tweeter on top of the one without and that pretty much equals the sound of a DB212
-
I'm not familiar with this cabinet's crossover, but I've seen many where the woofer driver isn't even affected by the crossover. It is purely there to serve the tweeter. So, it may be that you are getting everything you can through the driver already.
Leave it and see how it goes. The effect might be barely noticeable.
Again, this I switch between those gauges when I fancy and agree, there's very little change - nothing that will cause any problems unless you have the lowest of low-low actions to begin with.
I use a Zoom H1 to record our rehearsals all the time, I've never thought about popping some IEM's into the headphones out. I will get myself a decent set of IEM's and try that out next week, thanks for the tip.

What a great great idea using the Zoom headphones out. Never thought of that and Ive got IEM's just sitting in my guitar case! Ive got an AC moulded earplug at -15DB but I just dont get on with them and everything sounds muffled to me (although I put them in later in the rehersal rather than at the beginning which may be the problem) so will try the "zoom soloution" - Thanks!
No problem at all! I stumbled upon the idea a while back when I was monitoring off my Q8 camera. The H1 is incredible as it can easily take the full volume of a band without distorting AND gives a brilliant high quality stereo image from the dual microphones. The feed from the camera could go in to the band's IEM mix I suppose too, but for a stand alone set up, the H1 is small enough that it could be attached to a stand and then have a cable run up to your ears directly - I'd probably run a longer cable and my super Fischer Amps 'Stick' headphone amp to keep things tidy and have more control over the ambient level going to my lug-oles. I'm using 64 Audio's A8 in-ear monitors that do a very good job of sounding natural - any excuse to use them as much as possible!! Dan
Not always on eBay, sadly they are now so biased towards the buyer that selling on there is a risk and I have stopped for that reason. Hopefully the OP will be ok in this as he is completely in the right.
Yes me too! - I won't sell on eBay any more after buyers 'trying it on'. I'd rather sell to the awesome people of BassChat.

It can help, but channeling everything in to mono could actually make things worse. I'd suggest using a stereo mic of some sort feeding in to your IEM channel to get a better more coherent version of what is going on in the room. I'm going to try out a Zoom H1 handheld recorder for such a job actually. Even though it is a recorder, it has a line out direct from the stereo microphone elements that could be fed in to the IEM signal path. I've tested the theory with my Zoom Q8 camera and that seems to work very well, but don't want to take a big camera out all the time just to use the audio line out. Oh and the band won't turn down? If it's causing problems for your hearing, then it's most certainly doing the same for theirs too. Seems odd they aren't fussed about damaging the only set of ears they'll ever have!

Plus the one! I agree! Any 'modern' valve amplifier I have ever owned has been given the 'valve upgrade' treatment with an improvement either to tone or in just getting rid of a bit of noise. I've never particularly been a fan of *that* cheap stock valve that seems to end up in all manner of amplifiers. The JJ premium selected low-noise valves are really nice and I agree they add 'something' good for no money. The JJ ECC83S (I think) is my usual favourite. Thumbs up!
Chord BEQ-50 ? Great build quality 7 band bass eq. Good Prices.
The GLX / Harley Benton "Boss Clone" isn't bad and cheap as chips. I've a 'Red Sub' EQ in my cupboard - but it's not a Boss sized pedal.
I like the sound of that - could be what I'm looking for. Thank you!
No problem! I prefer the Deluxe version out of the two available models, it has a gain boost foot switch for extra sizzle should you need it part way through a song.

My 'go to' drive & clean pedal is the EBS Billy Sheehan Deluxe pedal. The beauty of this one is that it has two effects loops on it too and a compressor. You can say add octave and chorus on the clean side but have just envelope filter on the distortion side, then mix it all together for one big sound going in to a fat EQ section. That'd be my suggestion anyway!
I looked into this once. There was a lot of complicated form-filling and grey areas involved, so I decided against it. I hope you can make sense of it....
Yup, indeed! You need a Waybill Number from the original importing of the device to send the item back under a 'repair code' on the paperwork. When that has been done then the manufacturer needs the same information to send it back to you to ensure you don't pay twice. Of course the problem is always with getting the original details and then a courier who actually knows how to deal with the forms correctly. I had one enormous balls-up from one courier who I got so frustrated with, it was easier to cough up the extra. Never again!

I've reviewed said bass. Actually a nice piece of work from Cort. I'd liked to have played the 5 string version too but didn't have the opportunity.

The EBS Billy Sheehan Signature Drive has a drive circuit and the kind of compressor you are asking for built in. I'd recommend the Deluxe version too. I have one on my own board and use it mostly as a subtle enhancement rather than a full bore distortion - but it will do both. And no, it doesn't 'just' sound like Billy Sheehan, it is capable of way more. One of my very favourite drive pedals for bass. It also has the ability to blend the clean signal in but also an effects loop each for the dry signal path and distortion path - all in one pedal. I love the DarkGlass stuff too, but the Ultra models are beyond my reach right now.

My cheeky trick is to buy D'Addario Balanced Tension sets anyway as they are brilliant. The E string is a 107! So it's a little heavier as standard so no need to go out and buy separates. It Drops to D nicely on my 4 string 34"ers.
