I've just installed the computer software 'Edit And Share' - I like it and works a treat. I've just backed up all my sounds I have created. I also like that when the B3 is attached it appears that parameter changes made in the software are instantly changed on the B3 too. Cool!

Is Jordan Rudess endorsing this yet? ;0) lol

This is making for very interesting reading! I was hoping to squeeze at least 10kg off the weight, but this might not be possible then? It just might not be worth the work. I could be better off going for a 410XL and maybe porting that 5" driver into the cab.. That will sort me out with a 32Kg box. Bass end will be different, but with the same soeakers in both the 4.5 and 410, hopefully that character will be retained, along with the 18mm birch ply!

What is your favourite brand of strings? (Survey)
Dood replied to davidmpires's topic in General Discussion
D'addario Pro Steels, though I've put coated bronzes on my acoustic guitar and coated strings on my electric guitar. My Shuker 6 headless has D'addario Nickels on and I am very impressed. Still zingy after a sweaty gig and they are smooth under the fingers too. (i've no quibble with the feel of Pro Steels). -
I like the Zoom B3 approach - I would like to see the equivalent of the Zoom G3 2.0 firmware for it for added oomph. The other multifx I've used have all constrained you to a particular signal chain with a limited number of options available at each step.
+1 I was always a massive fan of my TC G-Force until I sold it, like a fool! Ha! The B3 is a really cool idea and I hope it gets the G3 2.0 update. Zoom UK seem to think it's likely but could not say anymore at the moment.

Boss Metal Core ML-2 distortion pedal £55/Uk delivered
Dood replied to Dood's topic in Effects For Sale
Yes! It can easily do endless sustain, but even the lower gain settings are pretty cool! Sounds awesome on bass. Billy Sheehan fans will approve. It works really well with a blended signal, but the low end boost on the pedal alone is useable too. The only reason why I am letting this one go is that I have a metal zone too. It features a sweepable mid that i prefer. (in order to tame the top end of my bright sounding basses). Id recommend pulling the trebles down a bit or attenuating your tweeters on high bain settings for the full chunky effect! It's on eBay and the auction starts tomorrow I think .. Or even tonight at around 8pm, so if you want to bag a bargain, pm me now with a decent offer! Oh... And the black metallic finish looks ace! I even thought about rehousing my metal zone in the shell! -
Cheers Stevie! I'm expecting a change in tone, but that could be said of the likes of Tecamp / Barefaced / [insert lightweight cab manufacturer] if they'd opted to included an 18mm birch ply cabinet version too. Yup, it's a weight saving decision solely. Having looked at the 4.5xl vs the 410xl, even a change in cabinet dimensions but using the same materials saves aroiund 13kg! (both cabs use the same 10" drivers). I could even look at doing a lightweight version of the 410 xl; yes i think it couod suffer tonally, but i hope it'd still maintain the Hartke Alu character but at a substantial weight saving. It'd also be a fun project. It's funny, i was thinking - we spend so much time effing with our basses with new pickups, hardware and construction as well as modding amps - why not mess with a cabinet or two as well! I think if i get started, i'll merge these posts in to a build diary. Oh and i might just stick wheels on the cab too for a laugh!

Diamond, just what I wanted to hear. I need to do a cutting sheet with the details for them and then I'll ask for a quote. I think this could well be a 'do-er' as they say! An interesting project, but at the same time a way to test a theory. Can I make my favourite cabinet even better?

Actually, I take that back - P basses do offer a wide variety of tones and can cover any style of music.
-
I love my P bass - I love my Jazz Bass Special. I'd never gig with them by choice, only if it was specifically required for the job. i.e a tribute act or if I got the call from Brian May.. P basses - Nothing wrong with them at all - but they are a bit like a screwdriver. They do one thing really well. For me, I like to take a swiss army knife out to shows

Thanks again guys, this is looking promising!
Just out of interest Dood (and not to scupper any sales here on BC), what is it that makes you so interested in the BCB-60?
Partly laziness! ha ha - I like the option of having everything neat in the box with the PSU and 'in/out' sockets in the corner to just plug in to. I will be using two or three boss pedals in there too, so it seemed an obvious choice. I looked at the Behringer offering as well as even the Harley Benton boxes for a budget alternative, but the space 'front to back' seems a bit short in comparison to the BCB. It's a fast and dirty solution to carrying my pedals - and knowing me I swap things around often!
-
Excellent! Thanks for the posts guys! CM, did you take any pics of your modded BCB? I'd love to see them, it might give me some ideas! SD, brilliant! Thank you! - So all I could do with knowing is if the lid will fit on if I pop the B3 in, which I measure as 6.5cm in height including a gap for the pedal buttons. I've a Nova System too, but I really don't think that would go in! ha! I'd probably take the foam out and replace it with a custom mat if need be - should I need to shift things around a bit or include another non-boss pedal. All being well, I could be interested in your BCB, SD. I'd love some pics and mebbe a guide price PM'd? Cheers! Doooood

They'll CNC cut for me too? Now that's going to make things very helpful! Sadly, I don't own a tool shed or the necessary cutting tools. Construction of the parts would be a much easier job for me!

Does anyone have a Boss BCB-60 effects pedal case? I've a few boss pedals that I would like to mount in one (that's the easy bit) but I'd like to know what the H / W / L dimensions are in the pedal mounting area. I'd like to mount non-boss pedals on the board too and wondering if it's 'doable' before I go ahead and look for a second hand board. Ideally, there's enough room for a Zoom B3 in there!
-
I haven't tried an EXP pedal with my B3 yet - though I'm really impressed with the B3 on the whole. It's really easy and super fast to set up.
