Unless I were to decouple with a capacitor? My other thought was to break the circuit at R009 (1M) and use a switch to feed a +ve dc to keep the fet engaged all the time using a simple toggle switch. Would this work?

ELECCY TECHIES! I WANT YOU! http://www.hobby-hour.com/electronics/s/schematics/boss-mt2-metal-zone-schematic.gif Hey guys! I've just taken delivery of a Boss Metal Zone pedal from that rather fine chap Mr Foxen. I really like it as I can dial in some really smooth middley distortion that I will mix with a clean signal - a bit like an MXR M80, but..well.. actually better due to the semi-parametric EQ. Now whilst I have been playing today I have started pondering! I *could* use an fx/looper pedal to mix in my clean signal with the output of the pedal OR I could see if there is an easy mod to do this in the pedal internally. I don't wanna wreck the pedal - it's a peach, but maybe an SPST switch and a couple of cables that could feed the clean signal to the output all the time. I've found a schematic and have been able to figure out the following: 1) Q003, top right of the diagram is essentially a mute switch that engages when you turn the pedal on. 2) Q009 (LHS) and Q002 (RHS) is also a mute switch that engages when you turn the pedal off. Thus in a flip flop kinda action you have state 2) when the pedal is in 'bypass' and state 1) when the pedal is on and you hear distortion. So here's my logic - there must be an easy way to ensure that no matter what state the pedal is in, you can bypass the action of Q003 so that with the pedal in bypass or activiated, the clean signal (bypass) is always present at the output. Now at the moment my feelings is that around Q003 there is signal with DC and thus bridging the FET is a bad idea. An easy way to do this?
One of my favourites like this is the Boss MT-2, it makes an absolutely LOVELY Fuzz. Liam
I've just taken delivery of one today! I can see it being very useful blended with a clean tone.
I use an X3 Live into a W-Audio 1U digital power amp and it's a great setup that at the moment I set and forget, but if my tastes change in future I've got an arsenal of amps and sounds to choose from. Definitely recommended.
My tastes seem to change on a regular basis... Oh deary me, why did i get rid of my X3 lol!
-
Yup, bin the presets annnnnnd make sure that you had the unit set up for running in to a power amp. There's a setting in one of the utility menus to specify what you are connecting the POD too, which changes all the amp sims to suit. Infact, I'd go as far as to say spend some time with the manual. It's actually pretty helpful because there's a lot of things going on under the bonnet lol! I have used a Bass Pod Pro and also the X3 for a number of years running straight in to a power amp too. Set up properly, it can sound great. Set up badly and it can sound muffled and indistinct!
The Tecamp Bad Cab. 2 tweeters, 4 tens, 2 twelves and 2 fifteens. 2400W power handling but if that's not enough it's available as a special order in 8ohms, so you can use 2 with most amps. Edited: forgot about the tweeters.
I actually think this cabinet is wonderful! - I mean it's the height of OTT! I know that the techies amongst us have a field day over the common-all-garden 4x10 and it's vertically aligned drivers - but this? Ahhhhhh it's enough to make their heads explode with frustration. This is a beast that wasn't designed with phase alignment in mind, rather levelling houses and I bet it sounds awesome!
Interested in your opinions- you tried the Puma 1000 or 500 (or I guess 900 now) what you think of them?
Sadly and it pains me, i've not had an opportunity to try out any of the Pumas myself, so I'm unable to answer! I understand that models *did* and maybe still do? Use Powersoft amp modules. I've owned a Powersoft power amplifier and it was fantastic. I'm not sure what it is that makes an amplifier deliver that weight or girth in sound. The ability to deliver high current? Driving a speaker with balls? Not sure, but the powersoft delivered lots of weighty punch. I wonder if the Puma does the same? -
Has anyone asked already about how will the octave tracks? how far down can I get a -1 octave? E string? D or below?
-
I'm a fan of singlecuts! Here's my beautiful Shuker 7 string tuned to low F#. The last few days had me thinking of selling it, but thankfully after a moment of complete stupidity I came to my senses as Jon and I designed it together. It's a very special instrument.

Hey mate! Thank you! It's so damn good I'm tempted to keep it, though downsizing to another in the XL range maybe appropriate. I really am gonna miss the ability of the cabinet though. More about the cabinet: The huge port as well as the midrange unit gives this monster the deepest lows and a great and very smooth top end. I do have a real hard time getting on with rubbish tweeters thrown in to bog standard cabinets! The 5" unit covers the sparkly top end of a tweeter but reaches down to meet the top end of the punchy 10"s. Something many tweeters fail to achieve if the woofer's high frequency roll off can't get up to the tweeter's low frequency roll off, leaving you with a gap in the response curve. That aside, these cabs rock a low B... Annnd a Low F#! and for 180 quid, it's gotta be worth it

Had to check out some clips of the jackhammer after seeing that response curve. Wow, sounds great on bass!
Don't underestimate how difficult and stressful it can be, even for established artists.
This x100. I feel very fortunate and lucky to be able to have my bass earn my living for me. It's bloody hard and you should treat every day like you're setting up your business for the first time. But the rewards are worth it. I'd say for anyone wanting to go down this route, do not place all your eggs in one basket. Use your talents and skills to form multiple streams of income so when one dries up (which it most definitely will) you have something else to fall back on whilst you fill that gap.
