121 likes when I last checked the page! Well done! (What does your pseudo-OCD think of that number? )
Ha ha! It was a nice surpise when I logged on this morning! Not bad for less than a day. Makes me sure that the community page is a good idea!
Three of my Facebook friends have joined already before I even noticed this thread. And one's a drummer too!
Excellent! Yes, although it's called East Anglian Bass Players, the idea is that all musicians can be part of the page too. However, i know how difficult it is to find available bass players around here, what with all the grass down the middle of the roads and that all forms of transport in Norfolk have straw bails attached to the boot i jest of course! It's hopefully going to make finding band mates easier in this area. I'd like to get as many BassChatters involved because I think it could also help to direct traffic to BassChat thus widening the audience and community here too.

ha ha! Like it! Having some good feedback about the page in messages already which is really good! I hope it can be a useful service for local musicians!

He he he!!! I overlooked how the name may look on other people's feeds! I'm only glad now that I didn't make an embarrassing typo!

Thanks fella! - It's growing steadily since lunch time which is great to see. I'd invite anyone - whatever the instrument or location to get involved. Feel free to add me on FB too, that's cool! www.facebook.com/DoodOnBass
TBH we've had far more success with the physical printed press pack than any of the EPKs that we've sent out. These days anyone can cobble together something in the virtual world and email it out. Having a printed kit with an actual CD attached that has been sent in the post shows an additional level of commitment which can make all the difference when dealing with promoters etc.
Point well made. The same as any job application, use the EPK in conjunction with physical media (even if it's just a letter) and telephone calls.

Hi all!! As a local bass player in the region (as I know many of you are too) I often get asked if I know 'such-n-such' or if I know of any available bass players for a dep gig or stand-in locally. I get 'phone calls in to my Bass Tuition business asking lots of bass and band related questions too which is cool and I like to help. So, I thought it'd be cool to get a community page together for the East Anglian region. The reason being that should a dep gig come up, it'd be say, within an hours drive or so - or for example, buying and selling kit in the local area, it'd make it easier to travel to the destination. Anyway, I want this page to be used in conjunction with BassChat of course! Please do head on over - it doesn't matter if you aren't local to East Anglia, everyone is welcome! https://www.facebook...lianBassPlayers and whilst I'm at it, here's the Bass Tuition bit too! The difference between your website, an artist press kit and an EPK is that the EPK should be short and to the point if it's going to promoters / labels etc but include a clear link to more details directly to your website. (a single click) I've got a couple of pre-release album EPK's here that are a zip file with selected album tracks in MP3 format, some press quality photos and a couple of PDFs. One has the general band blurb the otherhas the album release blurb. A press release with positive comments from publications / labels should be included as well as noted big gigs proving you have a huge fan base. Should also include a bit about the band too obviously. A little bit of hyping doesn't hurt but no BS lol. In short, the promoter wants to know if you're worth putting on. Much like a job CV, you can expect that they have tons of these press releases to get through. The EPK should be a short, clear yet detailed resume of all ya band best bits!

Excellent, i'll keep an eye out if one comes up, or something similar. Havent really decided yet!

What should be in the box of a new Hartke??
Dood replied to Will Farnell-Smith's topic in Amps and Cabs
Iv since been in touch with them again and they were hesitant to answer when I suggested it was an ex demo. They also tried to tell me that Hartke "do not provide manuals with their UK stock as it is too expensive to do so". Clearly they're BSing. They're taking it back tomorrow anyway, and I'll be sending a message to Larry with photos of how his new flagship is being presented by guitarguitar.
Yes, that is utter ball-hooks - As it has already been said, Larry prides himself on his customer service and that includes the packing of goods and the no-nonsense manuals supplied with all the kit. Definitely let him know - he'll probably be in touch with Hartke UK (Who are also very awesome too). - Infact, Hartke UK pop in on here from time to time! -
Excellent, thank you for the reply! - I'm thinking of keeping my eyes open for a second hand one to use with a lil covers band - ya know, for the odd synthy sound or bit of dirt & chorus. Just wanted to know how peeps were getting on with it. What's battery life like?

So guys, a couple months in use now, how are you getting on with your B3's?

Choosing a Class D head with more than 500W at 4 ohms and no more than £700
Dood replied to Clarky's topic in Amps and Cabs
I haven't had a chance to get my mits on the GB kit yet, so I can't comment on those. The Streamliner looks dead sexy though! One of the nicest looking heads out at the moment i think. -

Speaking of amplifier ratings, i'm a big fan of Bass Gear Magazine who set up a special testing area to do real world ratings of amp heads compared to the manufacturers specs. Some very interesting results so far. I believe it was they who uncovered the odd output ratings of the RH450? My faves so far in terms of surprises being the Orange Terror 500 kicking out peaks easily of up to 900W and the Hartke LH1000 that should probably be renamed 1100 (Watts RMS) I'm such a geek, but i do like to know what figures are actually being produced. Tells you a little bit about a companies marketing department! -

Just checking in. I've been really pleased with the GK having done two gigs with it already. I've been suffering back problems again and my usual monster head has had to stay home. It makes for a great back up amp too. Just throw it in a gig bag and bring it shows as a spare. Mainly, in my iGuitar Mag video review, i was really impressed with it's low end punch, something i have found missing, or a lack of in other D Class heads. Annnnnd it's bloomin loud! Noticeably more so than my MarkBass F1 i've just sold, which in itself was no slouch. My other contender for tone that i have reviewed most recently is the EBS Reidmar. Sounds great, but i'm not sure how it would get on powering the ACME though. EBS believe it can match a 500w in terms of volume output, but i was unable to compare at the time of review. The Acme requiring a little more juice to get it fired up may mean the Reidmar would struggle to be heard. TC RH750 gets a thumbs up in terms of tonal options and is loud, but I felt i needed some deeper girth from it personally. It seems to favour a highe EQ centre even on the lowest bass setting. I'd love to see a Stacatto 750 in production as i think that might fill the gap that i feel the RH750 could do with being able to cover in tonal options. -
I was going to mention the PW too! I have one for my headed basses. It's brilliant! Haven't quite figure out how to attatch it to my headless bass though!!

What should be in the box of a new Hartke??
Dood replied to Will Farnell-Smith's topic in Amps and Cabs
Yup, a new Kilo comes in a sealed white box inside of a sealed brown packing box. You'll get a power lead and a manual in a sealed plastic bag. The amplifier should also be in a sealed plastic bag. The packing on Larry's kit is very substantial too. Epson GuitarGuitar i jave heard great things about and their staff at LBGS were friendly and helpful. (not sure if that store is involvedwith the webshop though??) But any shop selling ex-demo as has to advertise it as 'used'. I know eBay have come down pretty hard on companies that try to flog ex-demo as new on their site. Isn't in in contravention of consumer law? Oh and if you wanna talk to Larry Hartke personally, you'll find the man himself on Facebook! I chat to him often! -

A quick reminder to heed the advice above when using this forum. I would like people to use the report button if members are responding in a fashion 'contrary to the spirit of the forum'. Warnings and Bans I am happy to dish out. -
And I'm reminded of that little phrase that goes something like 'if you have nothing good to say, then it's best not to say at all.' This thread is for advertising for musicians for a band, not a request for critique over the band's music. If you don't like it, you don't need to apply for the job. You'd be better off trying to support your fellow musicians people, not having a cheap shot at them.

Let's not do things by half - here's my favourite power amp manufacturer! Loved my ole powersoft. What a beast! - I think a rack full of these might just do the job!!
I don't understand the reference to the transformer...?
I wasn't referring to the transformer having a fault, but as you know a transformer will have an impedance (or DC resistance when read with a multimeter) I simply wanted to know if the tester unit was meant to be used without anything plugged in to get a proper result or if the loading of the mains transformer on the circuit (if the amp is switched on of course) would interact with the tester? I mean, for example, you wouldn't try to measure the impedance of a speaker whilst it is connected to another speaker cabinet as the reading would not be true. I wanted to know if the tester simply measured open/short circuits or if it relied on resistance too. If it did, would loading on a mains socket cause the threshold for those readings (and alarm) to change. Make sense?

I have just watched the video for these. They look great and the toneprints are a great idea. That Octaver example by Uriah tracked all the way down to B. That's worth it in itself!
I don't see why you'd need to unplug everything else. Anyone? (LOL at Gust0o)
I wondered if the loading of the devices (such as transformer impedance) would have an affect on the gadget's ability to read certain fault conditions. Would love to hear from a PAT tester who knows these units inside and out. I guess there's only so many fault conditions that it can test anyway - but the most important ones, such as 'no earth' would be easy to detect.
