Parker FLY USA 5 String - Graphite neck - Piezos - ***Sold***
Dood posted a topic in Basses For Sale
Hi everyone! Well, here's an interesting turn up! Recently I have been working at a rather prestigious venue with a team of musicians. One of our new friends who comes to help is a bass player. This is his rather fabulous and absolutely spotless Parker Fly Bass that he would like to sell. He said to me that he doesn't feel that he'd do it justice - but I think he's a rather cool bass player actually. A really lovely guy! - Anyway, he has asked if I knew of a good place he could advertise it for sale! Not surprisingly my answer was yes, I know just the place. I've agreed to sell it for him as a friend, so hopefully he'll be ok with my advertising skills! I'll get the pictures in first then attempt to take all the information from the 'Preliminary Owners Manual' and get it here for you to see. This instrument is spotless! The detail? Sexy! The price for this fine example is £1200, including the official very well padded Parker Fly gig bag. I don't really want to ship the instrument, however I could arrange to meet 'halfway' within reason to complete a purchase. (for Fuel, Coffee, Cake) It's not my bass and will be directed by my friend on how he'd like to send the instrument to it's new home. We can discuss price/OFFERS and I will send enquires direct to him. You are more than welcome of course to shoot me questions about the Bass! Ok, so Spec: -
Well, having compared the official specs between the two - there's a great deal from the 1006 that made it's way to the 36. I mean, I can't really see how the 1006 could have been 4 grand more than the 36 by viewing only. I have to say, it's a great bass. There's going to be very little I'm going to change (if at all). The 36 has medium frets, but having reviewed the Dingwall Afterburner 6 in iGuitar with banjo/mandolin sized frets, I'd really love to play the 1006 (with the same) to see how it compares. The Dingwall was a stunning instrument! You should be able to order the 36 through PMT as they carry a lot of Ibanez stock.

FYI: The GK MB800 fusion is set to be out first quarter 2013, but probably better to expect that early second quarter.
Ooh I like updates. How will that work... or are we talking about a new model?
Yup, it's a new model in the same shell with a new display i believe.
Loved your review Dood! Very tempted to nab one myself, and an Ibanez GVB36 haha!
The GVB36 is a fantastic Bass! I'm loving it! I wanted to review one in iGuitar, maybe now that they are finding their way in to the UK, we'll have a chance. Interestingly, I snapped up one of the only three in the country currently. People in the right places, ya see! ;0)

Ha ha, well, good news, the MB800 Fusion is being released for next year with tye valve preamplifier and features in! The review Of the head will be in Issue 10, the next issue of iGuitar, the current one is 9. Yup, I've flagged the issue re: Base and it should have been sorted already!! See, no one listens to the bass player!!

A couple of weeks ago I reviewed the GK MB800 head for Guitar Interactive Magazine's Bass department that I write ( http://www.iGuitarMag.com ) ready for the next issue. For smaller gigs, I need a 'gig bag' sized amp and had been using my MarkBass F1 when the full stack isn't appropriate. Well, the F1 is going up for sale as I've taken delivery of ...an MB800! it's a great little amp that will be useful for the gigs I can't take a rig with me (should i have to journey by train etc) https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=374635669255236&set=a.360995963952540.102977.132783403440465&type=3 Here's a pic of the review model on iGuitar's FB page. OMG is it loud!!

Thank you Umph!! Very kind! I'm just looking at the schematics now and seeing what features I need and what I won't, as the pedal will need to be a self contained unit but not needing many if the features that make the signal path a full blown preamp rack. It's looking more 'do-able' as i study it further.

I had an Epifani, but I sold it a while back. I'll get my coat then and leave with the epi-Faaaar-nie joke.

I reviewed the Gallien-Krueger MB800 with my Shuker bass a couple of weeks ago for Guitar Interactive Magazine. My Shuker has a similar tone to an American Spector owing to the choice of pickups and electronics. I have to say, they sounded great together. The MB800 is now my favourite 'lightweight D Class head'. It really is stonkingly good. A nice pairing!

I see the Snark is getting an update for added accuracy and tuning speed. I've got a PW on a headed bass, a snark for acoustic guitars and a Korg flip tuner for everything else. None fit on my headless bass!!

I'd also add that the Sansamp and M80 are two completely different beasts with their own characters. They actually sound really great if you run them in parallel, not series you'd need a way of mixing the two outputs though, such as a passive mixer / mixer pedal. I used to run mine like this: GTR > sansamp in - sansamp out > mixer in A> Sansamp Parallel out > M80 in - M80 out > mixer in B > Output of mixer to amp etc. This is cool as it does allow you to eq your clean sound via the sansamp. Then add more 'wet' on the M80 balance control and use it's 3 band eq to shape only the distortion part of the signal. Then when you're bored of all the faffing, acquire an Ampeg BSP

Are these product from tye same source as GLX pedals? I understand GLX, a budget pedal is made in the same factory as Boss pedals. They have the same controls and usually sound very similar to their Boss counterparts.
-
Hey all! I've been thinking about cutting down the features of my distortion preamp, then finding a way to have one built in to a pedal, because I love the sound of it. Then I saw the schematics... Ooooph! This one is going to need careful planning! I love seeing you guys DIY pedals though. They all look so cool - one of the reasons I wanna have a go. Something very cool about saying 'I made this', or 'ahh no sorry mate, i had this built for me, you can't buy something thisssssssss cool!'

I believe one or two gentlemen on this ere fine forum know my form only too well! The TechSoundsystem 410 cabs I owned were always dearly missed... And then I missed out on WH's 6x10 when it came up.. This one was too good an opportunity to miss. It pairs very well with the Kilo I'm a sh*t-bag. A sh*t-bag with a bad back who is enjoying this helium filled beast! This one you'll have to prise from my rigomorticed hands I reckon! It's is rather epic! Fankx Mick, lovely to meet you today!

Met Mick today for a lovely long chat in a service station to do a super purchase from him. Great guy, brilliant transaction and I look forward to meeting up for a cuppa next time!

Lovely job!! Here's a link to my 'John Deacon Fender P-Bass' tribute porn/build thread. Started life as a favoured Japanese non-export Fender reissue P bass and has been updated to match John's refinished instrument he used for pretty much all of his career. I adore this bass! http://basschat.co.uk/topic/87360-deacon-ification-fender-cij-non-export-70s-pbass/page__p__831763__hl__john%20deacon__fromsearch__1#entry831763
The Hellborg preamp is built with top quality components and some brilliant design, and as others have said...what you hear in a studio recording is more than the bass/rig used by the artist. There are so many more components to the recording process, as well as final production. The end result, in many cases, is that the sum may be greater than the parts. In my personal experience, the Hellborg gear offers a faithful reproduction of what you and your instrument are putting into it, warm yet defined, with a wide frequency response and little to no coloration of tone. The components are studio grade, etc....but in the end it boils down to this: Does the gear work for you? And, are you happy playing it? We are quite fortunate to have so many options available....its a great time to be a player/gear-head!
Indeed! I was very fortunate to have a full stack demo from JH himself with his signature Basses. It's a great sounding rig and he was more than happy to spend a considerable amount of time running through each of the components with me. Awesome player too!

Ashdown Lomenzo Hyperdrive Bass Distortion pedal. *sold*
Dood replied to Dood's topic in Effects For Sale
I'd say that the Hyperdrive can do moderate to high gain settings, but doesn't wander in to the outlandish 'cascaded pedals' kind of distortion. I wouldn't say it could do full on fat fuzz. Well, i didn't get that with my set up. It does a great low gain sound and it's possible to dial in a more chewy higher gain distortion sound setting with a wide freqency set low. -
