1.
Yup - Had one myself. It isolates that one output of the Daisy Chain and then doubles the voltage to give you an 18v supply for just one pedal. Great little unit.
Thanks for the information Higgie! - I'd never thought about 'DC Pump' before and usually stuck with separate PSU's. That'll lighten the rack unit a bit!
  2.
Discount the fact that you can`t remember the specifics, and look at it from another point of view. Why had this supposed legitimate buyer not cashed £375 which was supposedly owed him? It`s a hell-of a sum of money to not cash, especially when you have sent an item back in good faith. My thoughts are that said bass that was returned was probably a fake, and that they kept the real one. Western Union Overeas Buyer (not an issue on its own, I might add, I`ve dealt with overseas buyers, and no problems, don`t want to offend anyone here) Supposed Issues - minor Asking for refund Forgets to cash £375 Item returned All of the above put together, in my view, stinks. And as others have said, check your bank account - £375 leaving yr account will be easy to identify. And, shot in the dark here, did you keep records of the serial numbers of the bass that was sent, and the one that was returned.
It does sound like a classic scam - the kinda thing 419 Eaters would go to town on. I agree with ensuring the first cheque is properly stopped and can not be cashed before entertaining the idea of sending another.
  3.
+1 I did around 6 years on and off from around 17 yrs old , and it was good grounding . It's pretty much all feel (as I found it) , especially the Western swing , or maybe the Outlaw stuff (Waylon Jennings etc) . If it's Country and Irish , it's unlikely to be of the Ricky Scaggs frantic pace . Just enjoy it , as if it's a proper Irish boozer , prepare for a great night . They'll love the band , forgive you for almost anything , and likely to be well hammered by the end . If they've got a switched on drummer , then you're set . Just enjoy it mate , I guarantee it by the 2nd set you'll be in full swing . You will let us know how it went I hope ?
The first 'proper' band I was in - age 13 or something was a Country and Western band! Yes, honestly! - But I learned a massive amount fast. The set list seemed a mile long and I have to admit that a few of those songs are in my guilty pleasures list! ha! Well, that's my prog metal reputation down the swanee!
  4. In Premium, I understand you can 'save' tracks for running locally and furthermore at 320k bit rate. Are they stored locally as MP3's or in Spotify's propriety file system?
  5. You are quite correct, Hartke do not make a 2x10 in the Hydrive range. I can't say I totally agree with it being an oversight on their part - It was more of a manufacturing decision; I know that Hartke were keen to keep the price of the range as affordable as possible. Larry himself received stacks of requests for all different configurations of cabs including 6x10's and 2x12's - but as I understand it, wanted to keep the range manageable. I think the Hydrive 410 is probably one of the most compact 4x10's on the market and thus making a 2x10 to fill the gap between the 1x12 was probably a bit pointless. I can understand your frustration, but probably a bit harsh to call the guys at the show brain dead - they were able to field my own questions and I'm a tech-head!
Would the 210XL be okay with my 115TP in the short term? Until I can upgrade the TP to an XL! Would I notice much difference in sound replacing my 410TP with the 210XL?
The speakers and cabinet design of the 210XL will give you a far better performance - however - the 410 has double the amount of speakers and can therefore move more air. I think the 210 will give you a better bigger sound, but I don't know how it will stump up against double the amount of speakers volume-wise. If it were the 2.5XL however, I reckon it'd chuck out more low end in comparison.

+1 on all of the above. The XL range is so much cheaper now that they have been discontinued, so a really great time to grab a bargain. My first 4.5XL, when they first came out I believe was nearer 700 quid! You can still pick them up from outlets and they are one of my all time favourite cabinets. The Hydrive range are brilliant too and I agree with the comments above - the 3500 is an all round winner - I'd say upgrade from the transporter range and reap the benefits of the 3500! D000000000d
  10.
So where does he advertise it,its not a bass, amp, effect other muso thingie? i suppose erm yes, rules are rules.......strange but rules all the same
We had to implement rules about what is allowed for sale in this forum as we found that we were getting all sorts of completely unrelated adverts appearing. This is a Bass forum after all - for everything else - there's Ebay and Gumtree. Here is the list of what is allowed for sale in this forum: http://basschat.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=129198
  11. Yeah, been using scrunchies for years - great for in the studio and for killing strings when doing all that tappy stuff!
  12. Heh heh ;o) Noooo not viscious! Rulez is rulez - have a looksie at the sticky at the top of the forum
  13.
What's with all the headless conversions of late?
I know!! But it's great! I love the embracing of headless basses - I only wish I'd done it ten years ago - best thing I've ever done I reckon! Lets see more ;o)

  19.
Does anyone know of a repairer for line6 constrictor? Looks a bit like one of robocops shoes! Bought from local cash convertor and lost the receipt. No power going to the unit from battery or psu. Help!
Line 6 have a UK repair centre - I found the address via the Line 6 website. I'm sure they'd be able to help.
  20. Yup and as Yorick says - you only need a couple of spots - as this will make removal easier should any remedial work be required in the future.
  21.
However if you want a Conklin 7 string bass then really only Conklin will be able to build it for you.
Good point well made - When I flip that around on my own circumstances - Yes, I'd probably have *still* had a Shuker even if he lived in the US. So I've learned something today!
  22. I went to the London Bass Guitar Show to go try these, as Hartke were there - but I spent all day talking I didn't plug a single Bass in for the duration. The switchable impedance is a great idea - I see Epifani have also used a similar system in some of their cabs. If these babies sound anything like the rest of the Hydrive range, they're gonna be great! Calling TinyViking! I believe he has a pair of HX112's. Now let me see - my LH1000 can drive down to 2 Ohms on each channel.. I believe that's 8 HX112's in 8Ohm mode! )
  23. I too have owned the GTBD-7 - mine was a nice red one and sold to a guy in Spain before I got my Shukers. - I'd certainly recommend keeping your eyes open for a secondhand one. You can pretty much expect to pay a good 25% extra on top of the UK equivalent of the US price when importing a bass due to all the various charges, tax and shipping - which for an £800 bass is probably more easy to swallow vs a £1500+ My personal opinion, taking the point made by skej21 is that I'm certainly more inclined to put that extra money toward after sales care / servicing of a complete custom instrument instead of losing it to Customs and Excise. I'd be less worried about driving my Bass up to Shuker than sending off back to the US too. That said - Conklin basses are great and I had really great comms with Bill (and TalkBass' John Turner who owns rather a large collection of Conklins!) when I was looking for mine - which incidently came from eBay USA!! - The GTBD-7 is a 'stock' signature instrument.
  24.
Pretty much got it sorted now Going for an SMX, cheers for the advise all
Oops - sorry - didn't see the lat post of the thread before mine - oh well - I'll leave it for the sake of information!
  25.
Again, it requires a bit of a budget-stretch (and I believe it's actually three-band), but the TC Electronic Nova Dynamics is rather lovely and it includes a gate too.
Yes - one of these! - I've owned several multiband compressors and found that the third mid band of the Nova is that extra bit of control that the Multicomp doesn't have. Oh - and the pedal is actually TWO pedals in one box. Each individual pedal gives you the option of a multiband Compressor, or a full band compressor or a noise gate. You can run both at the same time. Both halves alos feature 'Parallel compression' that will aloow you to mix a dry signal in too which will give you a nice big fat sound. Highly recommended. One of my students picked one up for £80 this week - I believe it's new too.
