GB were one of the main culprits for the slap filth lol Some stunning basses, but I generally stayed away on account of the noise....as thats all it was Si
Hey Si! Yeah, that's why we took refuge and grabbed a coffee for an hour! Certain stands were noted for their dreadful noise pollution heh! - but it was great to have a mo' away from the noise to have a natter with ya!

Check out the line 6 range of products, such as Toneport, POD GX, UX1, UX2 etc - Yes they do a whole lot more than just input your dry sound, but they really are great fun!
Result: over £1500 raised for the Samaritans and a local charity.
That's fantastic news! Well done to all those involved!
*cowers*
Heh heh! - When you go see Jon, take some choccy biccies along as well. Bless him, he works so hard I don't think he gets out much! - Oh and if he offers a viewing of the fine wood store, I'd highly recommend it (if you can resist the temptation of a new bass that is!!) ;o) Here's another +1 for Jon's immaculate work.

Look out for this ugly mug! ha ha! - I'll prob be bringing my Shuker with me too and hanging around the Hartke and Rotosound stands.
I'm with Dood on this one. Buckeye is a great choice IMO and if you don't mind I'll show you mine
Ahhh Pete! LOVE that bass!
Never knowingly mixed the two, I pretty much used Factory settings - there are a 100 on there ( I think), so a good sound wasn't hard to find! Each patch can be eq'd, so I never had any problem with getting bass....
Ahh cool! Sounds good - Thank you!
Would I be better off ditching Sonar and perhaps try using something a little less heavy on the system, maybe Reaper which I also have?
Reaper is fantastic. I love it and yes, it's nice and light on the system too.
First thing I'm going to do is install windows7, 64 bit version, after speaking to a few computer boffins, they seem to think it should make a big difference to the performance, and it would allow me to add another 2GB of RAM if needed.
A Dual Core Processor computer (for example Intel's Core 2 Duo) will benefit from running a 64bit OS and yes, - in my machine, having a mere 4Gb RAM installed - the 64bit OS can address all of it, whereas a 32bit version can not. One thing to take in to consideration is that to make full use of the benefits of a 64bit OS, you will need to make sure that your Interface is running 64bit drivers, your DAW is a 64bit version (Reaper is available in 64bit thankfully) - and then if you chose to run plugins in the DAW too - then 64bit is the way to go. However, you can still run 32 bit software, drivers and plugins on a 64bit OS. W7 has 'bridging' to enable it.

If you want a free version of Guitar Pro 5 - Google 'TUX'. They both are good, but riddled with head bashing frustrations I think - Guitar Pro 6 isn't perfect, but it's definitely an improvement in GUI in my opinion - though as Bob says, there's a few things that you have to do differently between versions which can be frustrating!
By the way, dood, you rock
Awwwww, that's a very nice thing to say! Thank you! - I do rock, but generally back and forth with my head resting on me knees he he he! It's the madness of this place

I'd just add that if anyone were planning on leaving the amp in a bag whilst in use, to make sure that the fan vents are not obstructed - as they can get pretty hot inside, even if the case doesn't feel like it's baking. Which could lead to component failure.
I was lucky enough to receive a Shuker Jazz for my wife for christmas which I love. After playing it for a while I noticed a buzzing/vibrating noise on playing an open E or A which I thought was coming from the nut. I took a samll peice of tin foil and put it in the nut slots and the vibrating disapeared. Yesterday I took the bass To a luthier in Cardiff called Dave Dearnaley who informed me that the noise is due to the set up and that it needs a fret dress as the top end frets are slightly raised (12+). Is ther anything that could have caused this or could it be a manifacturing defect?
Just to add to the comments already. I am supremely sure that Jon would not have let a Bass leave his workshop with 'top end frets slightly raised'. Jon wouldn't let me anywhere near my new Bass until he was totally sure that it was ready! I have never heard of buzzing on open strings being caused by 'slightly raised frets'. Sorry, that is rubbish! Especially when the noise went away when you put tin foil in the nut. Those frets would have to be out by a good couple of mm's. - I'm afraid your own diagnosis appears to be better than the 'repair man'. The amount of back bow you'd need on a bass neck to make the string bash against frets 12+ is incredible - the kinda back bow on a bass that had been set up by chucking it off the top of a multistorey! heh heh heh! To fix the problem the set up should cost no more than 30 quid by an independent luthier. - Something I could do with few tools and I wouldn't be touching the frets either! I'm not having a go at you and you haven't been foolish posting on here - if anything you could be saving yourself some money by going in armed with the information on this thread from some knowledgeable people! Good luck - If I were closer to you, I'd come take a look for you. Dan

Go buy a laptop bag mate!! - They're designed to give maximum protection - and because the F1 is so skinny, it will fit in practically any decent laptop bag. Speaking of which, I have a bag big enough to carry my laptop, F1, leads and recording interface all safely in one! - which means I can record pretty much anywhere and travel light too! Now if Hartke were to make a lil amp....
-
Yes, I definitely do and lose far too much time when I should be doing something else!! Very entertaining!

Recently I read a post about someone having trouble finding a bridge for their Jazz Bass Special. I know that Japan did fit some various style bridges to the basses throughout the ten years or so of production. I have what could be a bit of a rare one on my PJBS - it's a non standard 4 mounting screw type, fairly chunky too. I've found a guy selling them and have recently replaced my rather tired looking one. Drop me a line if it were you and you're still after one! Doooood
I used to have one of these, my first amp, ever! Brilliant sounding things, can do small pub gigs with this... and you have the DI out if you want more cabs. If this was closer to me id take it again just for the memories! Good luck with the sale
Did ya really Steve? I had the 200W Amp Head version! Pretty much the same controls - it was brilliant!

Congrats, looking forward to seeing which finish you go for! As Adam says, both my Shukers are finished in the Mystic Dream flip paint. It looks fantastic in bright daylight! I did think about the Gold/Red flip too - but Jon had enough paint left over from my 7 string to do the 6 string all over as well! (I wouldn't be surprised if there's more left! WOOO!! do it!)
MODS? Am I breaking any rules by recommending these? Just for the record I don't work for pixmania
Bless ya Morsefull - ya ok - thanks for the recommendation, I'd seen them advertised elsewhere too and were getting good reviews. I think I'll take another look then!
I should be attending thanks to niceguyhomer . I'll have a lanyard with Basschat business cards as 'ID', an avatar badge may be a bit much though ! Dood will need a badge as no-one will ever recognise him.
Ahh yeah, good point - I had a BC card in a lanyard at Manchester BassDay - I'll do the same! - oh.. and my ear plugs, thats for sure!!! It's gonna sound like shed building with a drum kit from every booth I envisage. I think rewards should go out for people NOT doing slap bass!! he he he he he! - I jest of course! Yup, infact not only am I gonna need a badge, I'm gonna have one of those big sign holding guys from Tottenham Court Road follow me with a banner with my name on it!

Yep, I'm happy to help - I did the same for GaryTheBassMan too - so may even end up sending the same info' to you to help.
