Recently I read a post about someone having trouble finding a bridge for their Jazz Bass Special. I know that Japan did fit some various style bridges to the basses throughout the ten years or so of production. I have what could be a bit of a rare one on my PJBS - it's a non standard 4 mounting screw type, fairly chunky too. I've found a guy selling them and have recently replaced my rather tired looking one. Drop me a line if it were you and you're still after one! Doooood
I used to have one of these, my first amp, ever! Brilliant sounding things, can do small pub gigs with this... and you have the DI out if you want more cabs. If this was closer to me id take it again just for the memories! Good luck with the sale
Did ya really Steve? I had the 200W Amp Head version! Pretty much the same controls - it was brilliant!

Congrats, looking forward to seeing which finish you go for! As Adam says, both my Shukers are finished in the Mystic Dream flip paint. It looks fantastic in bright daylight! I did think about the Gold/Red flip too - but Jon had enough paint left over from my 7 string to do the 6 string all over as well! (I wouldn't be surprised if there's more left! WOOO!! do it!)
MODS? Am I breaking any rules by recommending these? Just for the record I don't work for pixmania
Bless ya Morsefull - ya ok - thanks for the recommendation, I'd seen them advertised elsewhere too and were getting good reviews. I think I'll take another look then!
I should be attending thanks to niceguyhomer . I'll have a lanyard with Basschat business cards as 'ID', an avatar badge may be a bit much though ! Dood will need a badge as no-one will ever recognise him.
Ahh yeah, good point - I had a BC card in a lanyard at Manchester BassDay - I'll do the same! - oh.. and my ear plugs, thats for sure!!! It's gonna sound like shed building with a drum kit from every booth I envisage. I think rewards should go out for people NOT doing slap bass!! he he he he he! - I jest of course! Yup, infact not only am I gonna need a badge, I'm gonna have one of those big sign holding guys from Tottenham Court Road follow me with a banner with my name on it!

Yep, I'm happy to help - I did the same for GaryTheBassMan too - so may even end up sending the same info' to you to help.
you won't be disappointed
Hell no! Mine is on practically every day now and I still keep finding new sounds I like in it - just off the three controls!

Eddy, if you go over to the Bass Gear Magazine website and view Issue 3 online there is a review of the LH1000. When you look at the graphs, it's actually quite hard to give a precise answer due to the interactivity between the passive tone stack. However, you'll see that the boost/cuts are really wide. Instead of me trying to describe it - it's probably best to read the review. Bass Gear Magazine is absolutely awesome and their attention to details in testing is more akin to automotive and audiophile magazines, which is brilliant! Hi Galaxy, Certainly the reviews for the LH500/1000 speak for themselves here on Basschat and talk bass (The 500 being the amp in the 5210C & 5410C) - 'bang for buck' they have been a resounding success. I own two Hartke 4x10 cabs and I think that the LH heads really compliment the cabinets well. I have to say that the 5410C will reward you with some great (and loud) sounds. The only thing that you might wanna take in to consideration is that for the modern bass player, it seems that anything over about 28Kg is heavy! You might just wanna opt for a separate head and cabinet if like me you have back issues!
This is my plan certainly. We could turn it into an unofficial BC bass bash Maybe we should also wear badges with our avatars on for quick recognition as was once suggested for another bash.
Hmmm good idea!

I'm going! - I'd love to meet up with any BassChatter going. I guess I'll wear my BassChat top to make myself known!
Thanks for the replies. Does anyone have any idea about Inner Ear Headphones? The larger ones is what he's got just now and he'd prefer more discrete (sp?) ones. Dave
Yup, the reputable brands all make really good IEMs both in 'moulded' or 'push in' types. I'd recommend looking at reviews for Shure, Etymotic Research and Ultimate Ears to start with.
Same here - I swear by mine. I have the molded ones with ER15 filters in them and I've rarely done a gig without them since 2000. Well worth the money - think of it as a few quid a year to protect your hearing for the rest of your life.
Another Plus The One here too. I also vary between 15dB and 25dB filters. The ER20's are great considering they are so cheap. Be sure to make sure you are wearing them properly though - as if they are not seated correctly, you may as well not be wearing 'em at all as you either won't be protecting yourself - or you won't be hearing music clearly. I would very much advise everyone to get moulded plugs - I've said this often, they may be more expensive than the cheap off the shelf types - but they sound better, are more comfortable to wear and protect your hearing far better. How much is your hearing worth?!

I'm afraid following clarification over acceptable items for sale in the 'Other Musically Related Stuff' forum - General music CD's and DVDs are no longer...errr acceptable! I feel I could have written that sentence better!! Have a look here for details Clarification Of Acceptable Items which is a sticky at the top of this forum.
The T-bird arrived today. A quick check to see that all is well with the pickups before complete dismantling. There will be some repair work to be done - the holes left by the posts for the three way bridge will need filling with mahogany dowel. That'll be the first job. Plus I'll get to work raising some project funds by selling the bits I don't need. I took a wee photo of the body with the bridge resting on it: Chunky
Chunky, but looks somehow right
Hey, thanks Dood. Wasn't sure about the berhinger unit tbh. would need a 15 metre mains lead! Otherwise I think my mind is made up - just need to save the pennies for a while. Mind you - had the smell of burning voice coils outta one of ma speakers last practice - hopefully I haven't completely fried it- will need to tone down the volume I think. Anyway - thanks to all for the advice :-)
No problem! There's actually a guy advertising an FCB on my FaceBook for £60 at the moment if it helps the finances a bit..

I adore Buckeye! My first Shuker was a Buckeye fest - and the thought of a maple board on a Buckeye body does things to me! heh heh! Here's my ole Shuker on the website. I sold it to a very fine gentleman by the name of 'Platypus' Maybe one day I'll get a headless with maple board and buckeye facings again!
-
Hmmm, it has just occurred to me that it could have been possible to copy the old Fender 'Photofinish' basses. (Or was it Yamaha??) Underneath the glossy clear lacquer top coat wasn't a beautiful bit of flame maple, it was a photograph of said wood placed on to the facings of the bass. Maybe it'd be possible to do a glossy print of a chequerboard pattern and lacquer over the top of it in the same way?

I've just been rambling on another thread about changing a 12AX& for a 5751. I've definitely noted differences which I think will be the kinda thing you need to tame your amp. You don't have to spend a fortune to grab a couple of 5751's to test the theory with either.
